Middlesbrough developing “cohesion” says Rob Edwards

00:00Middlesbrough head coach Rob Edwards has made clear that his side are developing cohesion during their pre-season so far.

00:07Borough have been away on a pre-season training camp ahead of the start of the championship campaign

00:12and Edwards has been pleased with the progress they've made.

00:16Pre-season is about building fitness, building more organisation and understanding

00:21and building a spirit as well and cohesion and I think we've ticked all of those boxes over the week

00:27so I've really enjoyed it, culminating obviously a really good competitive game as well today.

00:32The game overall, how satisfied were you with the way the lads applied themselves?

00:36Yeah, I mean everyone will look at the result and we want to build a winning environment and culture straight away

00:41so disappointed with the result but with the performance that we had it shouldn't have been the result.

00:50Really pleased with the first half, disappointed with how we conceded the goal brother and that

00:54I thought it was loads of good control, lots of good threat in behind, it was feisty

00:59and I liked how we showed some real fight and stuck together when we needed to as well.

01:02I loved that, it was a proper battle.

01:05And the second half, it was probably a little less rhythm, changed the shape a bit,

01:08you see different personnel, a little less rhythm, loads of effort, loads of effort which was great, really aggressive.

01:14And one of Sunderland's new attacking options, Chemsdean Talby, has said that he will bring a wealth of experience to Wearside

01:23including having played in the Champions League.

01:26Yeah for sure, I play Champions League, one of the biggest leagues in the world

01:31so I will try to do my best to show the player I need to adapt to a difficult game or a really stressful game.

01:42Speaking of what kind of player you are, tell the fans a little bit about what you'll bring to the team.

01:48I'm a player who likes to get the one against one, to score goals and also to give assists.

01:55I'm really excited to play.

01:57You've now got a couple of weeks to do some training, to meet the players, but come August you'll be playing in the Premier League.

02:06How exciting is that?

02:07It's really top, it's like the best league in the world so I'm really looking forward to playing in the Premier League.
