Akon is assuring TMZ Hip Hop that reports of his beloved "Akon City" project being canceled are grossly overblown -- but he says there are a few haters who want to see it that way!!!

00:55What I can tell you is the Aikon City Project is under attack.

01:08And I would advise that you know that it's untrue.

01:11But for the most part, the project is a city, so it's not going to stop. It's continuing.
