00:00Isn't it that some of the people on that leaked list were applying to come here
00:04when perhaps they hadn't done anything to support British forces
00:08or fight against the Taliban?
00:11Now their names are on that list and at some sort of a risk.
00:15Does that give them automatic right to then come here and claim asylum?
00:20No, it's not just feasible.
00:23Most of those names on the list were people who didn't work alongside our forces,
00:28didn't serve with our forces, aren't eligible for the special scheme
00:33that Britain put in place quite rightly to recognise that duty
00:36we owe those brave Afghans who supported our forces.
00:40No, they're not eligible for that.
00:42Their name is on the data set and there was never the plan,
00:47never the plan to bring everyone in on that data set into this country and nor should we.
00:53It doesn't make them eligible for the special scheme that Britain put in place
00:57for those who'd worked alongside or served with our forces.
01:01And there is no justification, in my view, which is why I took the policy decision,
01:06based on this updated assessment of what's going on in Afghanistan
01:10four years on from the Taliban taking over.
