00:00In Bolivia, the government and the Supreme Electoral Tribunal rejected threats from followers of former President Evo Morales,
00:06who announced that if their leader is not qualified as a candidate, there will be no election.
00:11Our correspondent, Freddy Morales, with the details.
00:16Former President Evo Morales, in an assembly with his leaders in the Chapa region,
00:20insisted that without his candidacy for the presidency, there will be no elections next August.
00:30If there is no democracy, we are going to see if the elections are held on August 17,
00:34if we are not on the lists, there are no elections.
00:36We are not afraid, they will see.
00:42Ruth Nina offered her party's acronym for Morales to participate in the elections,
00:49but the Electoral Tribunal annulled that party for not exceeding 3% support in the last elections.
00:54We have decided that on August 17, we prefer to give our lives before allowing them to come
01:04and force us to elect their right-wing candidates.
01:13On that day, brothers, the Electoral Tribunal and the government, instead of counting votes,
01:18will count the dead.
01:19That is what will happen if they attack our indigenous communities,
01:22if they force us to want to vote for them.
01:24The Ministry of Government warned that these threats constitute a crime,
01:32and requested that other institutions, such as the Public Prosecutor's Office and the Judiciary,
01:37join in prosecuting MRs.
01:39Nina.
01:40Our commitment as national government, as Ministry of Government,
01:46and as Bolivian police is to safeguard the entire electoral process in our country.
01:50Evidently, there is a competition of crimes from these statements that have been issued
01:56from public incitement to commit a crime, through electoral crimes, and ending in the
02:00crime of terrorism.
02:01The Supreme Court also announced actions to stop threats against the imminent national elections.
02:13The Supreme Electoral Court will not allow any citizen to actually threaten the democratic
02:21right of the more than 7,500,000 citizens who are eligible to vote.
02:25Tomorrow, we will have the full court to make this determination, and we will announce the
02:29determinations made by the full court.
02:31However, we must be categorical.
02:33This has been a public expression, and we understand that the authorities called by law have to act
02:37immediately in this regard.
02:42Participan nueve frentes en las elecciones de agosto.
02:44Nine fronts are participating in the August elections.
02:47Six represent the right, and three represent the left, made up of an equal number of factions
02:51of the socialist movement.
02:52That a former president, Morales, is a fourth faction of the Movement for Socialism, that is
02:57fighting to participate in the elections.
02:59Polls show that the right wing has a clear chance of winning.
