The President of Bolivia, Luis Arce, denounced on Tuesday through his Telegram account the
00:04
attempts aimed at undermining the process of the next general elections on August 17th.
00:10
The Bolivian President stated that the government denounces the political intentions to affect
00:15
the participation of movement for socialism and other political organizations in the upcoming
00:21
general elections with the presentation of complaints to the electoral regime and constitutional
00:27
actions.
00:28
Likewise, he stressed that they called for the state bodies to act in compliance with
00:32
their constitutional functions with full independence.
00:42
As of yesterday, a very important stage in the democratic life of our country has culminated,
00:49
which is the registration of candidacies to face, to be willing to face also many groups
00:56
that are trying to destabilize and do not want the elections to take place.
01:02
We regret this position and we are sure that with the understanding of the Bolivian people,
01:08
we are sure that with the collaboration and support of the Bolivian people, which we have
01:13
always felt in each of these stages of our government, we will once again move forward and we will
01:19
democratically consolidate the electoral solution next August.
01:27
In this context, the indigenous leader and Bolivian former President Evo Morales took to
01:31
social media to denounce the decision and stated, given the serious risk that diplomacy faces today and
01:38
the real threat of excluding the indigenous peasant and popular movements from the elections, I call
01:44
the Bolivian people to a great national reunion. It is time to unite to confront
01:49
the real enemies of the country, the economic crisis and the abuse of power.
02:01
On Monday, the Bolivian Supreme Electoral Tribunal registered nine candidates for the Presidency
02:06
and Vice Presidency of the State. At least six of them are already confirmed with their documentation.
02:12
Once the deadline is over, the Supreme Electoral Tribunal begins to review which of the candidates
02:17
fulfill all the requirements. It is expected that on June 6, the official list of the candidates
02:23
qualified for the presidential race will be known. The electoral body pointed out that
02:28
the organization of the leader Evo Pueblo nor the Bolivian National Action Party can register
02:35
candidates for not having an acronym with legal status. On the other hand, the popular alliance
02:41
of AndrĂłnico RodrĂguez and Mariana Prado must wait for the decision of the first constitutional
02:46
court of Bani, which instructed the tribunal not to enable the candidacies due to the problems
02:52
of the third system movement.
02:59
You will remember that afternoon we informed that the third system movement, and the alliance,
03:10
which was formed, the popular alliance has already registered candidates in the system,
03:16
and that the reception of documents was pending, which has been processed according to the procedure
03:23
established for this process of registration of candidacies. What has the full court determined?
03:30
To comply with the precautionary measure. Therefore, the receipt of lists, and documents, that has
03:38
been received is being held in abeyance, until the constitutional chamber of the Bani court, decides,
03:45
what, corresponds, at the hearing of May 21.
