Day four of Taiwan's annual Han Kuang military exercises saw a drill to repulse an invasion of the capital region to the deployment of some of Taiwan's newest U.S.-made HIMARS rocket systems in the central part of the country.

00:11In the north, troops rehearsed placing obstacles in the Danxuan River to stop an enemy invasion.

00:17The river flows right through Taipei, making it a possible landing point in a real Chinese hack.

00:23And in central Taiwan, the military brought out new HIMARS rocket systems.

00:27These U.S.-made launches are easily movable, and they can even hit Chinese ports across the Taiwan Strait.

00:34The deployment is meant as a strong signal that Taiwan is determined to defend itself.
