00:00We thought we would get a ton of runs yesterday in Boston in the start of a four-game set
00:05over the weekend between divisional mates, the Tampa Bay Rays and the Boston Red Sox.
00:10Total nine and a half DRS, we only finished with seven.
00:15But the Red Sox rallied to win their seventh consecutive game, a 4-3 win over the Rays
00:22because the Mariners were swept by the Yankees this week, and the Red Sox have won seven in a row.
00:28So Boston now occupies the third and final wildcard spot in the American League.
00:33The Sox playing really good baseball as you need to entering that all-star break.
00:38Yeah, Tampa Bay needed three runs out of them.
00:40What did I get?
00:41Exactly three runs.
00:42So sometimes you just thread that needle and it works to perfection.
00:44But we also talked about, Ben, yesterday, the previous couple days playing the Colorado Rockies
00:48with 80-degree temperatures and winds blowing out.
00:51It was an offensive explosion.
00:53Yesterday we said in the 60s with a light wind blowing in, and that sort of held the bats down.
00:57You take a look at Tampa Bay, only had two runners in scoring position, 0-2 with those guys there.
01:03And you take a look at three of eight for the Boston Red Sox.
01:05Good win for the Sox because Walker Bueller, you got to start somewhere.
01:09Six innings pitch, three earned runs.
01:10That's a quality start.
01:11But by the way, Taj Bradley, who was the better pitcher on the mound yesterday,
01:14six innings pitch, one earned run, and you don't come away with a victory,
01:17that's always tough to live because you had the better pitcher,
01:20you had the better performance out of your starting pitcher,
01:22and you still lost that baseball game because your bullpen came in and gave that up.
01:25Junior Caminero, by the way, since being named a participant for Monday's Home Run Derby,
01:31I think is in a homer in back-to-back games as he did yesterday in the sixth.
01:36To extend the Rays' lead to 3-1, the Red Sox rallied with three in the home half of the seventh.
01:42The Rooks and the young guys performing well for Boston.
01:45Roman Anthony, the RBI single to open it up.
01:48Sedan Raffaella scored that run.
01:50Sedan Raffaella, the two-run RBI single that ended up being the game winner.
01:56And Marcelo Meyer, an RBI double to get the scoring started in the seventh.
02:00Again, the Sox have won seven straight.
02:03Boston playing really good baseball entering the break.
02:07I've been saying an 11-game slate.
02:09That's what was scheduled.
02:10We only got 10.
02:12The opener of a four-game set in Chicago between the White Sox and the Guardians.
02:16Another divisional duel ahead of the All-Star break.
02:20Rained out and postponed yesterday.
02:22Hoping to play a doubleheader this weekend.
02:25But DRS elsewhere for Chicago teams, albeit in Minneapolis.
02:30Pete Crow Armstrong, the youngster for the Cubs.
02:34The All-Star for Chicago continues to tear it up this season.
02:39The Cubbies take the rubber match and the series against the Twins, winning 8-1, courtesy of PCA.
02:46Two home runs, three RBIs.
02:49Pete Crow Armstrong this year now, DRS.
02:5125 homers, 27 stolen bases, 70 ribbies.
02:56He becomes the first player in MLB history.
03:00A long history of Major League Baseball.
03:03Ahead of the All-Star break with at least 25 home runs, 25 stolen bases, and 70 RBIs before that All-Star break.
03:12Have a day, PCA.
03:14He certainly did.
03:14If you play in Oklahoma City, you'll be getting a five-year, $250 million-plus rookie extension contract.
03:21But thank goodness in Major League Baseball, he's not going to make any money for probably five more years at this point.
03:25And, boy, is he putting out right now?
03:26And you're right about that.
03:27He doesn't have any chance to catch Otani in the MVP race.
03:30But he's having his own MVP season in the Windy City.
03:33This game had nine total runs.
03:34It was one of those yesterday.
03:35Remember we talked about, hey, we don't know if Byron Buxton's going to be in that lineup for the Twins
03:39and why that makes a deal because he's the best overall hitter in that situation yesterday.
03:42He doesn't play in that game.
03:44They only score one run.
03:45But how about this?
03:45Colin Ray, seven innings pitch, one earned run, man.
03:48That's a really good performance out of a not-so-good pitcher to try to help you out.
03:52Not the rubber match, by the way.
03:55My apologies.
03:55The Cubs avoid the sweep.
03:57Taking the only game in Minnesota.
