00:00First and foremost, the Boston Red Sox hand the New York Mets a 3-1 defeat.
00:06The Red Sox plating three runs against the Mets starter in Kodai Senga.
00:10The most he has allowed, that being three in a single start so far this year.
00:16Had never allowed, of course, more than two in his previous eight starts this season
00:21on the bump for the Mets.
00:23New York was a slight road favorite at minus 130.
00:26Total of nine does stay under.
00:29Big moment in the game, though, DRS, with the New York Mets trailing.
00:33Juan Soto blasts one off the left field wall, of course, the Green Monster.
00:37Because of the Green Monster, it did not sail out of the park.
00:41Juan Soto noticed he hit it hard, so he did not exactly sprint to first
00:46to try to get it maybe to be an extra base knock.
00:50Here was Carlos Mendoza, Mets manager after the game,
00:54on if he will say something to Juan Soto in Soto's response himself.
00:58Soto didn't bust it out of the box on that ball off the wall.
01:02Last night he had a play where he was a little slow getting out of it.
01:04Do you have to talk to him about any of that?
01:08Yeah.
01:08I mean, we'll talk to him about it.
01:10Tonight, obviously, if someone gets a hold of Juan and knows when he gets it,
01:18he's Juan, you know.
01:19And he thought he had it, you know, with the wind and all that.
01:23And in this ballpark or, you know, anywhere, but in particular in this one,
01:27with that wall right there, you've got to get out of the box.
01:30So, yeah, we'll discuss that.
01:32The last couple of nights you've had a couple of plays where you were slow
01:36getting out of the box.
01:37Is that something you have to be more aware of?
01:40No.
01:41I think being hustling me pretty hard.
01:44If you see it today, you can tell.
01:47All right.
01:48So, some contradictory statements there between Mets manager Carlos Mendoza
01:53and Juan Soto, the guy there who was, you know,
01:57not maybe hustling all that hard out of the batter's box last night
02:01or the night prior.
02:02DRS, what is your reaction to what we saw between the Mets
02:05and the Red Sox last night?
02:07Getting a lot of Robbins and Cano vibes there, right?
02:09Like, ah, if we give them all this money,
02:11is he going to hustle all that much at this point?
02:12But here's where the issue comes down to.
02:14Everybody makes mistakes in baseball, and you see it sometimes,
02:17where I thought I got one.
02:18I'm going to pimp it a little bit.
02:19Oh, no, it didn't leave the ballpark.
02:21Ended up at first base.
02:22Here's the difference.
02:23When you're at first base after that happens,
02:25most players are disgusted with themselves.
02:28Probably looking right into the dugout and, like,
02:29mouthing to the manager, I know I'm wrong.
02:32I am so wrong right now.
02:33I should have been on second base, and I'm not.
02:35But did you watch this play out?
02:37Round's first base goes back.
02:38Ready, Ben?
02:39Look at this.
02:39Ready?
02:42Boom.
02:43Boom.
02:44Loved it.
02:44That is base hit.
02:45Like, I got a base hit.
02:46Let me thank the Lord at this point.
02:48That's not the time for that, Juan.
02:49Like, you should be like, I can't believe I just did that.
02:52But you know what he did do?
02:53He did steal second base, which made me laugh.
02:55Like, I know I'm supposed to be on second, so let me steal second base.
02:58So, it sort of was like, hey, look, I made up for my error.
03:00But when everybody watched that, they know, the announcers know, the fans know for the Mets.
03:05You should have been on second base.
03:06But the fact that Cano just did his celebration as if he got a normal base hit,
03:10that's probably fired everybody up.
03:11But I understand where you're taking a look here and saying to yourself here for Soto
03:15and saying, you know what?
03:17I get it.
03:17And the manager, what is he supposed to do in the postgame?
03:19Like, you know what?
03:20That's 15-game suspension.
03:22Like, he's like, look, I'll talk to the guy.
03:23He probably knows.
03:24And then you see the postgame press conference here with Soto.
03:27And Soto's, like, sitting there going, like, I hustle, man.
03:29Like, that's not that.
03:30Like, it's just a, hey, look, man.
03:32I made a bonehead mistake.
03:33I should have been on second.
03:34I knew I was wrong.
03:36I stole second base to try to make up for it.
03:38I'm going to make sure it doesn't happen again, even Ben, if it happens again.
03:41That's what people get upset with, not acknowledging whatever just happened
03:44when you know you're in the wrong, which I do a lot, but hey.
