00:00This is what, like, this is the absolute hell that is making videos based on video games.
00:11Hmm.
00:13Farming sims have always been my jam, something of a side effect from growing up with two people
00:24who were weirdly into Harvest Moon. However, modern offerings like Star-
00:27I'm not actually giving the DS games some attention too, because with newer consoles coming up all the time,
00:47DS games and Wii games get shunted off to the side as some shovelware.
00:52City Builders are a favourite of mine. Uh, really, City? Like, City Builders?
01:00Hey, I could have hidden depths, you don't know me. City Builders are a favourite of mine,
01:03and 11-Bit Studios' Frostpunk is everything I love about City Builders-
01:06Honestly, I really hate the word shovelware. Like, yes, there are games that are, like, literally just, you know-
01:12Some games that literally are just, um, clearly like a cash grab, but like, some cash grab games are really freaking good.
01:20Shovelware is like filler, where the intention behind it is kind of meant to just be-
01:25meant to point out the actual development process or the, uh, uh, development process,
01:30but people use it as a dirty word so many times to the point that even if you try and point out that
01:35it's actually a neutral qualifier, it doesn't really matter anymore.
01:39Yeah.
01:40It's one of those phrases people need to stop using.
01:42Like, these days, shovelware doesn't really exist, games can't.
01:48Yeah.
01:50The shovelware I've made back in, like, in the early 2000s on fucking Wii and DS games are, like, the same shovelware you get-
01:57Shovelware you can also get on, like, Steam as well.
02:01Much faster.
02:03Steam accepts anything.
02:06...are crucial, and it's all set-
02:08...are crucial, and it's all set-
02:10...are crucial, and it's all set-
02:13...are crucial, and it's all set-
02:16...and it's all set in a frigid winter apocalypse.
02:18The winter apocalypse is so underutilized, man, fuck zombies and nuclear fallout.
02:22The sheer indifference of Mother Nature is truly terrifying.
02:24It's not just about me-
02:46Could you stop, uh-
02:47Could you stop, uh, right here?
02:50Oh, sorry.
02:54We're coming up
02:56Yeah...
02:57Uh-
03:06Huh...
04:07Oh, it's a factory building game on here.
04:14No.
04:15Ah.
04:16So I remember you playing it a bunch on streams, and that looked really fun.
04:22What?
04:23I remember you playing it a bunch on streams, and it looked really fun.
04:27Just because I play a game a lot doesn't automatically make it one of my favorites.
04:32I mean, I've been playing games since I was three years old.
04:35There are a lot of games, and I'm not like a lot of people who just like, who has like
04:41a memory of a goldfish and only likes the most lavishly expensive looking games.
04:47Yeah, fair enough.
04:48Yeah, fair enough.
04:49God, I remember my first game was called, so I didn't get in until I was, um...
04:56Um, eight or nine, and I didn't know what to do with it.
04:57Because I didn't know what kind of games console was.
04:58But if you do take them, then they effectively...
04:59Yeah.
05:00Yeah.
05:01Yeah.
05:02Yeah.
05:03Yeah.
05:04Yeah.
05:05Yeah.
05:06Yeah.
05:07Yeah.
05:08Yeah.
05:09Yeah.
05:10Yeah.
05:11Yeah.
05:12Yeah.
05:13Mm-hmm.
05:14Yeah.
05:15Yeah.
05:16until I was 8 or 9, and I didn't know what to do with it, because I didn't know what
05:24kind of games console was.
05:28I remember I got for Christmas that pink fat DS, like the original DS, and
05:46for like an entire year, I didn't know what it was, so I just kind of left it in my room
05:52somewhere until my mother explained to me what a DS is, and then I was like, oh great,
06:03oh, okay. So I was just explaining how I remember the first games console I got was a DS,
06:11and for an entire year of owning it, I did not know what it was. I thought it was a tool or something,
06:16and I just did not use it for an entire year until my mother explained to me what a DS is,
06:22and then I played it non-stop.
06:24I just did not use it non-stop.
06:30Back to City Builders, RimWorld is a full-on colony sim that I'm almost good at. You take control of a
06:42group of crash-landed sad sacks with random skills and try to make a functioning colony out of them.
06:45You have full control of the layout, work assignments, and priority, and digging really deep into the
06:49weeds opens up the option to diddle with your DNA. Okay, technically you can diddle with your DNA from
06:53the start, but you actually unlock the ability to gain positive effects from it. From there,
06:56you can craft your colony and whatever you see fit. Advance up the tech tree enough to build a ship to
07:07escape. Create a new home and try to coexist with the neighbors. Start a matriarchal dictatorship where
07:11every man is forced to wear a silly hat and has to sleep on the floor. Enslave all your enemies and
07:15send them on caravan missions for resources with not enough food and see who breaks first.
07:30Just wholesome frontier things. Next game
07:44I'm going to start a human meat business and see how long it takes the traders to notice.
08:14when I'm feeding them. Number five, Elite Dangerous. Hey, do you remember... Have fun though.
08:31What? I'm just saying that, another pride month come and gone. Oh, yeah.
08:38I managed to get my demisexual flag up on my wall today. A couple days ago, but still.
08:48One second. Okay.
08:55Meantime, how are you all in chat?
09:08Meantime, how are you all in chat?
09:26Slightly eepy. Yeah, I literally just woke up.
09:29This is so...
09:30Meantime, how are you all in chat?
09:32Meantime, how are you all in chat?
09:34Meantime, how are you all in chat?
09:36Meantime, how are you all in chat?
10:00It's not good.
10:30Okay, I'm back
10:47Hey
10:49And she has returned
10:55I'm just gonna steal this footage
11:00Lazy
11:25Hey, do you remember Star Citizen?
11:37You know, that game that cost almost a billion dollars
11:39And is gonna come out and absolutely change the world
11:41With its real-time galactic simulation
11:43And immersive sim elements and its strong
11:44Billion trailers for Star Citizen
11:51And I bet half of them were the same footage
12:01Just slightly edited different
12:03Be funny
12:21You know, before we were at Salem
12:30Yeah, well, I got him
12:31And they're like, okay
12:32see you next time
12:33And who knows
12:38Still week
12:39And we'll be right back
12:40And one thing
12:42Down
12:44We'll be right back
12:44And one thing
12:45Does it
12:47Do you?
15:18We may actually get ship interiors at some point.
15:20Come on, Frontier!
15:21It's the one thing we're missing!
15:22Number four, Dust and...
15:23Dust!
15:29Oh, I remember you playing me this.
15:31Is that I still love Fidget.
15:36Everybody loves Fidget.
15:38He's a...
15:39What a...
15:40It's adorable design.
15:43It's the kind of character I would make.
15:46Honestly.
15:46It was still impressive that that game was entirely made by one guy.
15:55Having been out for 11 years, Elite Dangerous is a game I'm constantly coming back to because
16:00the constant evolving galaxy always has new things to do.
16:03The Thargoid War passed by recently and that was a brutal disruption of the game.
16:06There's still...
16:07There's still...
16:08Yeah.
16:18It was still...
16:19Yeah.
16:22It's...
16:28Yeah.
16:29You've missed the six.
16:59Coming back to City Builders, RimWorld is a full-on colony sim that I'm almost good at.
17:13You take control of a group of crash-landed sad sacks with random skills and try to make a functioning colony out of them.
17:18You have full control of the layout, work assignments, and priority, and digging really deep into the weeds opens up the option to diddle with your DNA.
17:23Okay, technically you can diddle with your DNA from the start, but you actually unlock the ability to gain positive effects from.
17:28Well, there is!
17:30Syrup...
17:30...more...
17:33...in...
17:34...in one.
17:38Happy New Year!
17:42Alright, I just need the...
17:51I just need the puppets now.
17:56Oh yeah!
17:58Shit, man.
18:06Shit, man.
18:26Shit.
18:27Man.
18:35Man.
18:35Do...
18:35What?
18:36What?
18:40Do...
18:41You...
18:46...
18:47Hi, I'm CD Call, and these are my top 20 favorite games.
19:08Go!
19:17Let's see, it's six.
19:31Kind of want to do something as like a 15-year anniversary.
19:40Coming up in the bottom.
19:42Oh shit, 15 years!
19:44Well, technically my channel's been around since like 2009, but I started making videos
19:49in time.
19:53Oh my god, that's...
19:58What to even do there?
20:01Because since you're a general media channel, you cover so much stuff.
20:14Oh my god, seeing that really old version of your puppet.
20:28Oh my god.
20:28Oh, this one?
20:29And it's still in the...
20:30Yeah.
20:31Well, you see, it's...
20:34I had an interesting idea, so I kind of thought of doing like...
20:38I guess something similar to what like Jayden did, of just kind of reflecting on the last
20:4215 years.
20:43But, here's the kicker.
20:46Because I still have all the puppets.
20:52The one, two, four, five, six is around.
20:59Oh my god.
21:00And...
21:01I also still have this old thing.
21:08Why are they weird?
21:09Why are they weirdly?
21:10I also still have this old thing.
21:12I had the idea.
21:14I had the idea.
21:16What if, as the video goes on, the puppet shit changes?
21:21Oh, that is brilliant!
21:24Oh...
21:25Like, it ends on your current one.
21:29Oh, that's brilliant!
21:32All you need is some Fatboy Slims right here, right now.
21:35And then you...
21:36Just like an acoustic version of Fatboy Slims right here, right now, in the background.
21:45As your characters evolve.
21:55Across the CD-verse.
22:05Except with this one, you don't have Animator Crunch.
22:25Just like an aperture, like a photo, right now, in the background.
22:27Don't say anything.
22:27Once, let's take that.
22:27Drop the CD-verse.
22:29Take the CD-verse.
22:30Give it up.
22:46In the background.
22:47Yeah, my puppets pretty much stayed the same, except with slight changes.
23:05Like, I remember when I first started out, um...
23:07That doesn't work, that's backwards.
23:13Mom's flat, uh...
23:16Wait.
23:46Wait.
23:47Wait.
23:48Wait.
23:49Wait.
23:50Wait.
23:51Wait.
23:52Wait.
23:53Wait.
23:54Wait.
23:55Wait.
23:56Wait.
23:57Wait.
23:58Wait.
23:59Wait.
24:00Wait.
24:01Wait.
24:02Wait.
24:03Wait.
24:04Wait.
24:05Wait.
24:06Wait.
24:07Wait.
24:08Wait.
24:09Wait.
24:10Wait.
24:11Wait.
24:12Wait.
24:13Wait.
25:44Oh, I have managed to find, I found, I have managed to find the second worst genre of YouTube video.
25:58Oh, I won't, what was it?
26:03Um, what's that?
26:04Well, the name I gave it is Moral Panic Talk, but the whole thing is, like, Zoomer pretending, like, the last three TikToks they watched is some kind of horrible trend, and they all look like this.
26:16Oh, yeah, I think I saw you talking about that. Yeah, oh my god.
26:22On, like, outside of just straight up drama videos that are just, like, pretending to be documentaries, like, if that didn't exist, this would be the worst fucking garbage ever put on YouTube.
26:35Oh, kids are too addicted to their iPads. They can't raid.
26:40Skibbity Toilet is, like, a global catastrophe.
26:45And you know what's gonna happen? Kids are gonna reach, like, fucking 10th grade, they're gonna be reading fine.
26:52Yeah.
26:53You know what I, you know what I find to be a bigger, okay, first, first of all, and to make this clear, this guy looks AI-generated.
27:05Like, his face looks AI-generated.
27:08Yeah, it does.
27:12It's sorrow.png.
27:16I've seen a few videos by, by this one here, and...
27:23And, I'm gonna show, I'm gonna show you this, and you, you, you're gonna, you're gonna hate me for reminding you this clip exists, but...
27:39So, this one here, I've actually seen a few of her videos, and her whole shtick is,
27:45people in a TikTok video are mildly shitty.
27:48And her reaction, and her reaction is always...
27:54That's it, that's, that's the whole thing.
28:05God, like, just, just, just, just, just, like, fucking throw the whole genre away.
28:10God, like, just, just, people will never stop finding things to, to complain about.
28:19Yeah, and it just gets more and more trivial this time.
28:24It's, I guess, the whole thing of, like, oh, Gen Alpha, uh, students are absolutely horrible.
28:30Like, you're always hearing this from Zoomer teachers who are fucking making drama videos about their own students, and it's like...
28:38Dickhead, what the fuck do you think school is for?
28:41What the fuck do you think you're there for?
28:43Yeah.
28:44Ain't that your fucking job?
28:46Oh my god, I'm terrible at my job, so I'm gonna blame it on my students for making it difficult for me.
28:52Ooh, ooh, ooh.
28:55It's like, oh, a bunch of, like, a bunch of five-year-olds can tell you who Mr. It's like, I remember one, one version of this Moral Panic.
29:03It's somebody just saying, oh yeah, I have a kindergarten class, and all of them know who Mr. Beast is.
29:08And I've just, in my head, it just went, oh no!
29:12Anyway.
29:15Oh no, kids know what a popular YouTuber is?
29:18I thought that only happened to the movies.
29:20Oh shit.
29:24That's my favorite Superstore quote.
29:27Tell me you're too young to remember Smosh without telling me you're too young to remember Smosh.
29:38Or PewDiePie when he still did Let's Plays.
29:43Or hell, Markiplier.
29:46Yeah.
29:47Markipliers.
29:52God, I remember the absolute, um, do you remember, like, um, Liza Koshy got so much hate?
29:59Because she was, like, um, you know, just like a, just like a YouTuber who, um, a Vine style who, you know, like, became a YouTuber.
30:07Oh, I think, I think she was a Vine style?
30:09Yeah, because I remember seeing her Vine style.
30:11Anyway, and the fact that because, you know, woman, and because, um, she was successful and, and, and seen everywhere.
30:19Like, people saying that, oh, she's like, oh, she's such a, like, an attention whore.
30:23She's like, you know, she's everywhere, and, you know, and I'm just like, oh no, how dare a woman be successful and know her thing?
30:33And there's, like, so much, like, I remember there's, like, so much drama videos about her as well.
30:37And it's just.
30:38Hi, I'm CD Call, and he's, hi, I'm CD Call, and he's, hi, I'm CD Call, and he's my top 20 favorite games.
30:44Go!
30:47Ah, look at it with a weave.
30:53Yeah, I'm glad that I stopped watching, like, drama YouTube, um, YouTube, um, ages ago, and just went on to watching media essays and then.
31:00Go!
31:03Go!
31:04Go!
31:04Where the fuck is it?
31:06Go!
31:07There it is.
31:15For games, go!
31:22Go!
31:27Go!
31:27Well, I mean, well, I figured out, well, I'm great, I found out the, uh, I found out that I can make the puppets snap her fingers.
31:37Oh.
31:39Go!
31:40Go!
31:45CD, how did you even do that on such an old laptop?
31:48It rendered for seven years.
31:49Just imagine you doing the objection.
31:52Objection!
31:53Look at the fucking Phoenix Wright game.
32:06I am going to be lazy.
32:14Which is basically all I do here.
32:16Oh, don't say that.
32:22You put a lot of work in your living videos.
32:23A little laziness, as well.
32:25CD, how did you even do that on such an old laptop?
32:28It rendered...
32:29it rendered for seven it rendered for seven days
32:56it rendered for seven days i think that legally qualifies for seven days
33:01wait is that real did it actually render for seven days hold on a second like the uh
33:08i think that legally qualifies i think that legally qualifies as fermenting a video
33:25my gaming habits during
33:26the theft truly is one of those games i call only port in the storm games you remember being a kid
33:35and having only like two or three games so you kind of have to play them even if they have
33:38mechanics that bother you well when i was in high school i had an ibm thinkpad 380 laptop you know
33:43how much ram this thing had 64 megabytes this was released in the early 90s it was 2009 when i was
33:48using this thing windows 7 came out that year i made the grave mistake of installing windows xp on
33:53that thing i made my first youtube video on this thing do you remember the lavender town creepypasta
33:57video i made it on windows movie maker cd how did you even do that on such an old laptop it rendered
34:02for seven days i think that legally qualifies as fermenting a video my gaming habits during
34:07this period oh my god just seeing that really old laptop that's adorable look how tiny it is
34:18oh no no that thing was a brick oh really cd how did you think sorry for that perspective it looked
34:27tiny it looked tiny days i think that uh really cd like city builders
34:32yeah remember laptops being chunky as shit
34:51i lost mck's hair and um
35:09Oh, that's McKay's hair
35:21and her puppet is longer.
35:23Nice.
35:24Oh, yeah, she
35:24redid some parts of her...
35:28Question is,
35:31can it run Doom?
35:32Yeah, it could.
35:39What the fuck is scary?
36:09Yeah, it could.
36:39What the fuck?
37:09What the fuck?
37:39I love the look of apprehension and dread
37:57like your puppet has
37:59before Phoebe even...
38:01Pixie even speaks.
38:27Like, permission to speak with a case of exhaustion and dread?
38:40He's like, Pixie, who let you back in the house?
38:58Why did you replace Billy with this croc-wearing lady?
39:13Because Billy was gone a while ago.
39:15I've got...
39:17I've got...
39:18Yeah, Jesus Christ.
39:19How long have you been around that you remember Billy?
39:22Uh, really, CD?
39:23Like, City Builders?
39:24Hey, I can have...
39:25God, I don't believe that was...
39:27That's so bad when you did MLP videos.
39:31Yeah.
39:31I couldn't really insult Billy the way I do it with a way I can Pixie.
39:40Hey, I can have...
39:41Hey, I can have hidden depths.
39:42You don't...
39:43I think Pixie and Phoenix are just much more funny anyway.
39:49Here we go.
40:17Perfect.
40:19See what Orton said.
40:24Imagine what Pixie must think of her existence, near constant state of unbeing, a mere concept,
40:29only being brought out to ask dumb questions for the sake of bits.
40:32It just reminded me of that bit from Cat in the Hair.
40:34I'm your host, the guy in the sweater who asks all the obvious questions.
40:44Oh, yeah, I gotta change that.
40:45Number 20, Jedi...
40:47Number 20, Jedi Power Battles.
40:49I'll get you, and it looked like a bloody accident.
40:54I was gonna put music from each one in here,
40:57but getting this, getting the footage itself was already enough of a pain in the past that I'm just gonna...
41:03Yeah.
41:03Recently ported to PC, miraculously, Jedi Power Battles was a PS1-era hack-and-slash game based on the Phantom Menace.
41:25It was the blueprint for almost every Jedi combat game Star Wars ever had, and arguably the blueprint for the hack-and-slash genre as a whole.
41:30It's one of the early pioneers of the way hack-and-slash games approach combos, the idea of motion-sensitive actions, using modifier keys, and perfect parrying.
41:37It's like the proto-grandparent for every third-person action game to ever come after it.
41:40Hell, the Revenge of the Sith PS2 game is practically a more advanced version of Jedi Power Battles.
41:44It's a truly groundbreaking game, complete with all the warts that come from being groundbreaking, like the Re-Cyclops to Revenge of the Sith Tassius.
41:50Now, there's a reference nobody will get.
41:52Sure, it may be janky and weird, but I adore it for its janky weirdness.
41:55Number 19, Coffee Talk.
41:56I played Coffee Talk on stream a few years ago, and it made for one of the most mellow and relaxing streams I've ever had.
42:01The premise is that you are a barista at a coffee shop in a world that's like Dungeons & Dragons was designed by those people who draw the Rugrats kids grown up and wrong.
42:07You make coffee for the people who come by and listen to their problems, the writers having apparently mixed up a barista with a bartender.
42:13These problems range from work, to relationship troubles, to an alien coming down looking to breed.
42:17The entire experience is pretty mellow, although for as much as I like it, you spend far less time making coffee or offering advice to people than you do simply listening to them talk at you.
42:24Always the inevitable mood killer for any game, right next to endless resource shuffling.
42:28However, the game is still fun.
42:30I said the same thing about Star Trek.
42:32Given that I'm streaming this on YouTube, it would be a bad idea to just let people watch the entire video.
42:40Yeah.
42:43It was weird.
43:06Some decrepit Nazi tried to call my rebrand my rebrand Cope.
43:20There's always something interesting about like just the sheer unrelenting delusion at play with my stalkers.
43:27Yep.
43:27Just a few, hell, just a few days ago, like just a few months ago, they were back on that whole fucking, they were back on that whole anyone who speaks positively about, about me as a sock puppet bit.
43:45And they just straight up just harassed the shit out of some random Redditor.
43:49Oh my god.
43:51And all they did was make the grave mistake of like commenting on fucking Gamer Gazi years ago.
43:57Oh, poor Redditor.
44:09Oh, they're okay.
44:10Well, I checked, they appear like they ended up just deleting their accounts and using Redact to delete all their comments.
44:19I bet it was really different to decide whether to have Kingdom Hearts or Baldur's Gate on the number one spot.
44:36I bet it was really different to decide whether to have Kingdom Hearts or Baldur's Gate on the number one spot.
44:48Nope.
44:49Baldur's Gate, no contest.
44:50Right.
44:51Oh.
44:52I just thought, because how much of an emotional ki- how much of a strong emotional connection you had to Kingdom Hearts, I thought it'll be higher.
45:02Yeah.
45:03I wonder how many of your stalkers and harassers secretly dress up as you behind locked doors just to feel pretty.
45:08Oh, you guys have- oh, you guys don't remember Doritos, Pove.
45:16Oh, no.
45:18I know that's meant to be Xbox One, but like, X1 just sounds-
45:44It looks like Elon asks some shitty, um, alternate Twitter server.
45:54Support Soho?
45:56Who is that?
45:59Inlock Country in South-East.
46:04By Albania, South-West.
46:10Uh-huh.
46:11Go to Easton, North Macedonia to the center.
46:13It covers an area of-
46:15Hmm.

46:42I have a question.

49:52I think for me, if I was making a list like this, I would just put all the games that
50:11are either really emotionally raw for me or just fun to play because I'm a casual gamer.
50:18What do you think I did?
50:25Oh, I just thought that you put ones that are objectively very good from Blybobo gameplay
50:29and a thematic standpoint.
50:31The title is favorite.
50:35Oh, I see.
50:36I just need a thumbnail.
50:56Oh, I see.
51:02Oh, I see.
51:04Oh, I see.
51:06I missed a glass of water, the song.
51:29Get over it.
51:30Okay.
51:31Okay.
51:32Okay.
51:33Okay.
51:35One of those, one of those response, response slop channels gonna end up going, oh my God,
52:02who cares?
52:03Well, clearly you do a lot because I know you made a video about it.
52:09So clearly you do care.
52:10I like when people try and call me irrelevant.
52:14You know, if I'm irrelevant, why, why are you, uh, why are you, uh, why are you, uh, why are you,
52:19uh, why are you, uh, why are you making fucking, why are you content?
52:26Yeah.
52:27If I'm getting you attention then clearly I'm relevant.
52:28Just one of those holdovers.
52:29Total biscuit would call me.
52:30Oh my God.
52:31Oh my God.
52:32No one cares.
52:33Oh my God.
52:34No one cares.
52:35And I'm like, well, you made a video about it.
52:36So clearly you do care.
52:37Like when people try and call me irrelevant, you know, if I'm irrelevant, why, why are you,
52:42uh, why are you, uh, fucking, why are you making fucking, why are you content?
52:47Yeah.
52:48Yeah.
52:49I'm getting you attention.
52:50Then clearly I'm relevant.
52:55That's one of those holdovers and total biscuit would call me.
53:18hell yeah.
53:25Yeah.
53:28Yeah.
53:37So that's what you fear.
53:43I usually don't say it to the face of the person they don't care about.
53:52As a general rule of thumb, in like 90% of cases, if somebody on the internet says that something doesn't bother them, then they're a big fat liar.
54:00Because if it really didn't bother them, they wouldn't have brought it.
54:13. . .
54:43Actually, you know what, I'm going to render this, I will see you all later, bye-bye.
