00:00Hoping to deliver care where it's needed.
00:05Labor is proposing to activate Tasmania's 18 regional hospitals by starting nurse practitioner-led clinics at each of them.
00:13They have an expanded scope of practice.
00:15It means they're able to do multiple medical tasks and will genuinely increase access to acute medical services across the state.
00:23Also backing allied health and prenatal outreach programs.
00:27Everywhere from Dover to the east coast to the west coast and here in Scottsdale in the northeast.
00:32As the campaign rolls on, the major parties keep revealing more of their health platforms.
00:37But there's a cloud over one regional health service.
00:40Luna is one of two breast screen buses, delivering 1,300 screening appointments a year across the states south and east.
00:48To extend its life, it's been carted on the back of a truck, but has been off the road fully since February.
00:54The government only said that a breast screen bus is coming soon.
00:57That is simply not good enough now for women in the community who desperately need this life-saving intervention.
01:03While funds have been committed for a replacement, the Department of Health withdrew a tender last February and is yet to re-advertise.
01:11It says the work is ongoing and the process is likely to be completed by 2026.
01:17The new van is on its way, is my understanding.
01:21The Liberals have previously committed to four new permanent screening sites around the state.
01:26The party was today spruiking its plans for education.
01:29So by the beginning of 2027, across all of our primary schools, we will see added to the one hour of the structured teaching of literacy, that one hour of the structured teaching of numeracy.
