00:00What a relief to have Matt
00:03Chapman back in the Giants
00:04lineup.
00:05He has been the centerpiece of
00:06this lineup and but you really
00:07realize what he means to the
00:08lineup when he's gone from the
00:10lineup.
00:10Well he's back tonight but this
00:12is a two horse race tonight.
00:13You've got Luis Severino and
00:15Logan Webb locking horns this
00:17evening and for Luis Severino
00:19coming off a bit of a rough
00:20start against the Yankees the
00:22web slinger Logan Webb who has
00:24been rocklin and rollin all
00:26season long.
00:27He throws and it is outside
00:30ball for not by much but call
00:33the ball and Mike Yastrzemski
00:34has a leadoff walk got him on
00:40the hand it looked like it
00:41knocked the padding off of his
00:43back of his hand.
00:44So for the Giants two on nobody
00:47out to start this game a walk
00:48and a hit batter and now Devers
00:50against Luis Severino that comes
00:52set here it is endeavors the
00:54ground but of the whole fart it
00:55was left a second go off throws
00:56the second inside for the force
00:58of the Giants.
01:00Listen to the ovation probably
01:00from both sides here.
01:02Matt Chapman comes to the plate
01:03and Giants fans I think are
01:04particularly excited that he's
01:06back he's missed almost a month
01:07but a beloved A's player for many
01:10years gets the sign he wants from
01:11Langoliers and throws and he hits
01:14Chapman.
01:14Oh my goodness and Bob Melvin just
01:18took his hand and slammed it down
01:20on the railing in front of the
01:22Giants dugout it's ridiculous how
01:25many Giants hitters are getting hit
01:27lately but I think when you're an
01:29offensive team when this keeps
01:30happening to you you don't care it's
01:32there comes a point where you don't
01:33care whether it's on purpose or not.
01:35Severino fires the pitchers the
01:36ground ball to third play at the
01:37plate Muncy fires that's one and
01:40that's all they get but they cut
01:42down the lead runner 5-2 on the
01:44play at the plate on Yastrzemski.
01:46Giants now need a big at bat from
01:48Adama so they're going to let
01:50Severino off the hook here.
01:51up the middle in a base hit one run
01:55scores two runs scored and a big
01:58hit for Adama a two out two strike
02:01two run hit the Giants take a two
02:04nothing lead the pitch little
02:07squibber off the mound Webb Fields
02:09flips to first underhand style and
02:11he retires the first batter that he
02:13faces of the game Butler is out
02:15number one swings here and it's a
02:17fly ball shallow right Yastrzemski
02:19coming in and he'll catch it two
02:21down 3-2 Rooker ground ball softly
02:24hit to third Matt Chapman has it
02:27throws across in time he's back
02:30over at third base Logan Webb has a
02:32big smile on his face probably has
02:34something to say about Logan
02:35pitching here in his hometown to be
02:38tough foe for the for the
02:39athletics tonight for sure and he
02:41delivers and Nick it's a high drive
02:43right center field way back Jung
02:46Huli at the track right to the wall
02:48and he has to play it off the wall
02:49and going to second with a double is
02:51Nick Kurtz and he almost got it out
02:53one of these have a big-time start in
02:55the bottom of the second the scoreboard
02:59grounder from Langoliers to third Nick
03:02Kurtz was already there Chapman picks
03:03it up doesn't have a play infield
03:05single for Langoliers and the ASF
03:08runners at the corner Soderstrom swings at the
03:11first pitch grounder to second Brett
03:13wisely on to short and Adamas over to
03:16first run comes home it is two to one with the double play
03:20three-two Muncie strikes out swinging he got him on the changeup so Webb gets his first
03:26strikeout A's with the leadoff double do turn that into a run wanted to the count on the former athletic Matt Chapman
03:34missed about a month one two pitch is hit on the ground to third over to backhanded Muncie long throw not in time
03:42Chapman fast enough to beat it out that's an infield hit for Matt Chapman I missed that speed going down the line
03:50and he looked a little over anxious his first time up with the bases loaded now hitting with two down on the runner at first
03:561-0 pitch Lee drives one out towards left center field coming in Clark it's gonna fall in front of him
04:01Chapman's gonna test him heading for third the throw is late and Lee right behind him into second
04:08well there you go again Matt Chapman just forcing the issue with his speed with his hustle he got two extra bases for the Giants there
04:17himself to third and Lee to second so aggressive base running but smart base running now Willie Adamas
04:23has a chance to add to the lead one two he rips this one into left field base hit Chapman scores around third Lee
04:30here comes the throw Lee slides he is safe he was called out but Langoliers dropped the ball so Lee scores
04:39into second Adamas another two-run hit for Willie Adamas it's four to one Giants
04:46Elliott Ramos against Severino still in the game and Ramos swings at the first pitch drives one to deep center field
04:52Denzel Clark back at the wall and it's gone Elliott Ramos first pitch of the fifth inning
04:59five to one Giants and all these Giants fans in Sacramento there are so many of them they got something to cheer
05:07cheer about tonight that's the way you answer getting hit by a pitch straightaway center field that had to feel great
05:13Devers takes ball four off the inside Rafi Devers draws a walk you talk about those at bats from the Giants in the
05:20third inning Ramos with the seven or eight pitch at bat hard ground out Devers same thing they're starting to pay off here in the
05:26fifth he hits this one shot on the ground is short Wilson bobbled it picked it up throws to second in time to get Devers
05:36Mark Kotze standing on the mound now with the baseball in his hand and no he's not available it's going to be Sean Newcomb
05:42out of the bullpens he's going to take over for Severino earlier this year
05:49we talked a lot about trying to maintain and or create a level of unpredictability about himself
05:58stop it stop it right now that is fantastic here it is
06:05the deflection I mean
06:08yes that was that was Johnny Dasko-esque
06:13clean catch in my opinion yeah that is incredible and you know what she's like ah I'm fine
06:19ah I didn't rub it why are you rubbing it
06:222-2 swing and a miss strike three Clark goes down Webb gets the strike out and the A's do not score
06:30it's a double for Patrick Bailey and the Giants have second and third with nobody out looking to add to their
06:375-1 lead now a liner into right center field that's a base hit for Wisely and it's going to go all the
06:43way out to the warning track Smith is in Bailey right behind him he scores into second Wisely with a double
06:517-1 Giants and Brett Wisely smoked that thing
06:57inevitably even in a game like this
06:59at 7-1 there's that one point where with one big swing you can get back in it
07:04yes maybe sensing that the pitching coach of the Giants JP Martinez heads out to the mound
07:10there is Kurtz one out runners at first and third bottom of the sixth on the way to Kurtz
07:15and Nick it's a drive right center up the alley and a long run from right Jastrzemski won't get it
07:20one hops the wall one run is in here's Rooker to third they're going to hold him
07:25and the second double denied by Nick Kurtz and he makes this a 7-2 game
07:30Rooker at third Kurtz at second Langelier is at first Soderstrom is 0 for 2 Muncie on deck
07:36right hander plants his back foot 2-2 pitch Soderstrom bounces it to second Wisely flip to
07:42second one Adamas to first got him double play Webb gets a ground ball just in time
07:49and limits the damage just the one run bottom seven against Logan Webb giant starter
07:5688 pitches in six innings he's given up a couple of runs
07:59here's the 0-2 pitch that's chased and missed on a changeup down he goes so
08:04Muncie strikes out for the second time and for Webb that's his fifth strikeout
08:082-2 swing and a miss strike three Webb gets Zach Geloff with another changeup
08:14two down got that jam feeling frisky might do his best pitch of the night
08:19Denzel to center field Jung-Hoo Lee pause now he'll have to hop on his horse
08:24this one's gonna hop off the wall Denzel has a chance for three but he's gonna
08:28hold up at two five of the seven hits for the A's have been doubles
08:33Lawrence has one of those tonight
08:35this is outside and Webb wanted it but it missed away ball for good at bat for
08:41Butler that's gonna be all for the right-hander to all those fans standing up
08:45and giving him that big ovation maybe just a little unhappy with the way those
08:49last two hitters went he really wanted to finish off that seventh inning instead
08:53he's gonna lean on Randy Rodriguez Rodriguez one-two pitch is popped up to shortstop
09:00Adamas underneath it he'll catch it Randy Rodriguez does what he has done all year
09:06long against a really good hitter gets the Giants through a jam two down
09:12the A's are down to their final out here in the ninth inning
09:15here's the 0-2 Gelof strikes out swinging
09:19Bivens gets a couple strikeouts retires the A's one-two-three in the bottom of the ninth
09:26and all the Giants fans who came here tonight in Sacramento have something to cheer about
09:31at the very end the Giants with an impressive all-around performance
09:35and they beat the A's by the final score of seven to two
