Close Calls On Camera S10E02 (12th April 2022)
Transcript
00:00A close call, a moment of danger when life can hang in the balance.
00:05It was absolute panic and fear.
00:08A split second where the outcome could go either way.
00:11They'd have been lucky if they'd have stayed conscious.
00:13The difference between disaster and survival.
00:16It's literally, that's all it takes.
00:20These are the people that have been there and lived to tell the tale.
00:24I was terrified. I thought I was going to die.
00:27It's a day they'll never forget. The day they had a close call.
00:47Today on Close Calls.
00:50Two walkers photograph another hiker as he celebrates reaching the top of a rock stack in the peaks.
00:55Right now, I'm with someone in the Peak District National Park.
01:00I'm with the Lezova.
01:01But then...
01:04He slipped and then kind of regained his composure.
01:08We were like, whoa, be careful.
01:11Then he was gone.
01:14And two security guards on their way home from work at night
01:19witness a 4x4 hit a moped rider.
01:22The driver doesn't stop.
01:25He sped off straight down the road.
01:28They pull over to help the shocked biker.
01:31He kind of staggered to his feet.
01:34All his riding gear had been damaged.
01:36They've captured the entire incident on film.
01:40I got him on camera.
01:41Film the police.
01:42Yeah, I want it now.
01:43Nine, nine, nine, nine.
01:52Raven Stones, the Peak District.
01:56A hiker training for a Kilimanjaro charity climb
01:59uses his phone to broadcast live to his friends
02:03from the top of a spectacular stack known as the Trinical.
02:06Good afternoon, Shubhutupur.
02:10Right now, I'm somewhere in the Peak District National Park.
02:15I'm in Lezova.
02:16I'm watching.
02:18Two passers-by take pictures for it.
02:21But seconds later watch in horror
02:23as he suddenly topples over and vanishes from view.
02:28One calls nine, nine, nine
02:29while the other rushes down the steep slope to find him.
02:32And when you stood there and you see how far he fell,
02:37it was just like, how can anybody survive this?
02:48Imran works as a manager in his family's restaurant business.
02:52He's 37 and was born in Oldham, Lancashire,
02:55but spent much of his childhood in Bangladesh.
02:58He returned to the UK when he was 16.
03:02When I came back, I could not actually speak in English,
03:05so I had to go to a college there and do some English courses.
03:09Yeah, I've managed to learn and run, you know, carry on with my life.
03:14He settled down in the town where he was born
03:16and is now married to Effort and has his own family.
03:20She's a very caring person.
03:23Got, you know, three children now.
03:25Sometimes you do have a little bit of argument,
03:27but I think that's normal in every family.
03:30When he isn't working, Imran spends his time fundraising,
03:35including doing a parachute jump.
03:37I've been doing charity work here in the UK
03:40and I also try to do something in Bangladesh, you know, through my family.
03:45I have been doing a different kind of charity works.
03:50I've done treat evenings for people who are homeless
03:52or ex-force members with PTSD,
03:56so I approach those charities
03:57and I will treat them with free meal and free soft drink and free dessert.
04:04He enjoys keeping active
04:06and often goes walking in the nearby Peak District,
04:09combining it with his charity work,
04:11getting sponsorship for the more challenging hikes.
04:13In October last year, I did a charity work to Snow Runia.
04:20I was the first person to arrive in the peak
04:22and the first person to come down.
04:24But it's while training for his most challenging endeavour yet
04:27that Imran comes to grief.
04:29It's February and Imran is preparing for the experience of his life,
04:38climbing Mount Kilimanjaro in Africa
04:41to raise money for two charities close to his heart.
04:45One of them is my local hospital,
04:47which is Oldham, Royal Oldham Hospital,
04:50and another charity, Global Relief Trust.
04:52And they help people in countries
04:56where people are suffering because of the war.
04:58Imran is working hard to build up his stamina for the climb.
05:03He's amassed 45,000 followers on his fundraising pages,
05:07all donating to support his progress.
05:10And I had a lot of encouragement
05:12and a lot of people were, you know,
05:15saying good stuff about the thing that I was doing.
05:18Today he sets off before his family is up
05:20to walk to the local landmark known as the Trinical in the Peak District.
05:25It was a kind of windy day,
05:26but I did not feel it was very windy
05:29that it would stop me climbing to the peak.
05:32So I started walking to go to Trinical Stones
05:36and then in the middle I stopped and I had plenty of water.
05:40I don't know why, but I felt a bit tired that morning.
05:43He has a snack to raise his energy level
05:45and takes some photographs on his phone to upload to his social media
05:49before continuing on.
05:52The area is very remote.
05:54You've got to walk quite a long way to go to the Trinical.
05:58And I think I walked about an hour.
06:00Also approaching the Trinical today are Nadine and Carly.
06:04They met working at a mental health hospital
06:06where Nadine is a student nurse
06:08and Carly was a healthcare support worker.
06:11The weather wasn't great,
06:13but we figured that we'd be fine
06:15because it was just a hill walk.
06:17We were laughing, we were joking, we were having a good time.
06:20Two other local walkers are climbing up behind them,
06:23Paul and Caroline.
06:25The walk firstly takes us along the bottom of the valley.
06:29It's quite windy in places down there.
06:31We get sort of spray ripped off the reservoir.
06:33Imran is the first to reach the Trinical,
06:36a three-pronged stack more than 100 feet tall.
06:40He takes some more selfies.
06:42The top is a popular spot for photo opportunities,
06:45but his decision to climb up is one he'll come to regret.
06:49It's a straightforward climb, really.
06:52Even though I realised it was quite windy,
06:56on the top of the Trinical,
06:57I did a live video on my Facebook.
07:01He speaks to his online followers
07:03in both English and Bangla.
07:05Good afternoon.
07:07Shubhudupur.
07:08Right now,
07:09somewhere in the Peak District National Park.
07:13At the end of the video,
07:18I actually said,
07:19someone had a fall from here.
07:22That's going to be the end of the story for this person.
07:25It's really windy today.
07:32As he's about to climb down,
07:34he sees Nadine and Carly walking up to the rocks.
07:38As we approached it,
07:39Imran was stood on top of it,
07:41so we spoke for a little bit.
07:42He was in training to go to Mount Kilimanjaro.
07:45So I said,
07:45if I throw my phone to you,
07:47would you be able to take a couple of pictures for me?
07:49Carly suggests she takes the pictures with her phone
07:52and gives them to him once he's back on the ground.
07:55You know,
07:56I did a few paws and they took the pictures.
07:58And then I started to climb down.
08:01I remember two or three steps.
08:04I don't remember anything else.
08:06But Nadine and Carly do.
08:08He slipped
08:09and then kind of regained his composure.
08:13We were like,
08:14whoa,
08:15be careful.
08:16Then he was gone.
08:17Imran falls from the far side of the stone pillar,
08:21plummeting 100 feet down the crag face towards the valley below.
08:26He hits the ground and rolls another 70 feet down the steep slope.
08:31Nadine and Carly screams for help are heard by Paul and Caroline.
08:34It's clearly in front of us.
08:37But we can't tell what it is.
08:39All we hear is the shouting.
08:41It was really silent and eerie.
08:44Me and Nadine just looked at each other
08:45and it was like,
08:47what do we do next?
08:49When you stood there
08:50and you see
08:50how far he fell,
08:53it was just like,
08:53how can anybody survive this?
08:56They scour the heathland below
08:58for any sign of him.
08:59Because of the wind and the rain,
09:01it was quite dark
09:02and he was wearing all black.
09:03Eventually they spot him
09:05on the side of the slope
09:06lying in the heather.
09:09Nadine calls 999
09:10as Carly makes her way
09:12down the steep slope
09:13towards Imran.
09:15This is Nadine's call.
09:18Hi, is the patient breathing?
09:20I don't know, he's just fell.
09:22Oh, OK.
09:22Is he conscious?
09:24We can't get to him.
09:25We're on a walk
09:26and he just fell off the side of the hill.
09:28Right, bear in a second.
09:29Just tell me exactly what's happened.
09:31We're in Dove Stone
09:33having a walk
09:34and he was on the top
09:35of this peak thing
09:37and he turned around
09:38and he just fell off.
09:39He rolled down the hill
09:40and he won't respond.
09:41He's shouting at him.
09:42What's the address
09:43of the emergency, please?
09:45It's Dove Stone.
09:47It's a critical point.
09:48I don't know the address.
09:50All right.
09:50I need some sort of
09:52roughly where you are.
09:54Former Territorial Army Officer
09:56Paul arrives
09:57and is able to help.
09:59I get the map out
10:00and come up
10:01with the grid reference.
10:03Right, we are above
10:04Greenfield Reservoir.
10:06Yeah.
10:07On Saddleworth Moor.
10:09Paul gives the call handler
10:11their exact location.
10:12It's passed on
10:13to Oldham Mountain Rescue
10:15and the Yorkshire Air Ambulance.
10:17Adam Knight
10:18is one of around
10:1820 rescue volunteers
10:20who respond to the call.
10:23The trinical
10:23is in a very rugged area.
10:26The main concern
10:27for that day
10:27was the wind.
10:28We might need
10:29a search and rescue
10:30helicopter
10:30with winching capabilities
10:32and the wind speeds
10:33affect whether
10:34the helicopter can do that.
10:38Later,
10:39Air Ambulance,
10:40Mountain Rescue
10:41and a Coast Guard
10:42helicopter crew
10:43reach Imran
10:44on the remote moor
10:45and discover
10:46he has multiple
10:47complex injuries.
10:49We were
10:49splinting his leg
10:50but I wasn't convinced
10:52they'd be able
10:52to save his leg.
10:53He looked like
10:54he might not survive.
11:05Barry,
11:06South Wales.
11:07A car closes in
11:09on a moped rider.
11:10The driver cuts
11:11inside the rider
11:12hitting him
11:13and sweeping
11:14the bike
11:15from under him.
11:16I thought
11:18I was dead.
11:19My life flashed
11:20before my eyes.
11:21Two men
11:22in a vehicle
11:22behind
11:23see it happen.
11:24We look up
11:24to see if the driver
11:25has stopped
11:26and he hasn't.
11:27But they have
11:28the incident
11:29on film.
11:30From the police.
11:31Yeah,
11:31on it now.
11:32999.
11:32Recycling operative
11:43Aaron is 27
11:44and from Cardiff
11:45but enjoys spending
11:46the majority
11:47of his time
11:48in the nearby
11:48seaside town
11:49of Barry.
11:51He's a dad
11:52of four.
11:54My oldest
11:54two are
11:559,
11:568
11:56and
11:585 and
11:592.
12:00Aaron works
12:01shifts at a
12:01recycling centre
12:02in the Vale
12:03of Glamorgan.
12:04It's a lot
12:05of hard
12:05like heavy lifting
12:07but it's a job
12:09like at the end
12:09of the day.
12:11The depot
12:11is an hour's
12:12drive away
12:12so a set
12:13of wheels
12:14is essential.
12:15A while ago
12:16he invested
12:16in a moped
12:17to cut down
12:18the commute.
12:19My dad
12:20did help me
12:21out to buy it
12:21and then I just
12:22basically paid
12:23the insurance
12:23and the tax
12:24and everything.
12:25I don't own
12:26leathers.
12:28They are quite
12:28expensive to buy
12:30so I basically
12:31wear jeans
12:31on the bike
12:32which is
12:32a lot more
12:33safer than
12:34wearing joggers
12:34and stuff.
12:35I wear steel
12:36toe caps
12:36for work anyway.
12:37I wear them
12:38when I'm on
12:38the bike
12:39constantly
12:39and then
12:40I wear my
12:40helmet
12:40and my gloves.
12:42Moped riders
12:43can't use
12:43motorways
12:44so Aaron
12:45uses alternative
12:46routes to work.
12:48It's just
12:48B roads,
12:49back roads,
12:49country lanes,
12:50anything like
12:51any way I need
12:52to get there.
12:54They're mostly
12:55fairly quiet roads
12:56with limited traffic
12:57particularly at night
12:59but one evening
13:00on his way home
13:01a collision
13:02with a car
13:02puts Aaron's
13:03life on the line.
13:11It's just gone
13:12ten on a Monday
13:12night in September.
13:14Aaron's finished
13:15his late shift
13:16and is heading
13:17back to Barry.
13:18It's just my
13:19normal route
13:19straight down.
13:21I've been doing
13:21that route for
13:22just over two years
13:23on a daily basis.
13:25Also on the road
13:27to Barry that night
13:27is security guard
13:29Dan.
13:30He's accepted a lift
13:31from one of his
13:31work colleagues
13:32Scott as part
13:33of a carpooling
13:34scheme.
13:36We both live
13:36in the same area.
13:37It's very convenient
13:38for us.
13:39For safety reasons
13:41and for insurance
13:42reasons he has
13:43forward and
13:44rear-facing dash
13:44cams to make sure
13:46if anything does
13:46happen he's able
13:47to record it.
13:49But none of the
13:49men are anticipating
13:50problems tonight.
13:52I was behind
13:53three other cars
13:55Dan and Scott
13:56are in the middle
13:57one.
13:58We're going to
13:59catch up as well
13:59and then chat in the
14:00car about work
14:01about anything else.
14:02The rear dash
14:03cam in their vehicle
14:04shows the lights
14:05of the car following.
14:06Behind it is Aaron
14:07on his moped.
14:10When I got to the
14:11roundabout as I
14:12come out of the
14:12country lane I went
14:13on the outside lane
14:15to him and then
14:16overtook him.
14:18The dash cam
14:18shows him passing
14:19the car and
14:20approaching Dan and
14:21Scott.
14:22It was quite a
14:23loud moped.
14:23While alongside us
14:25it slowly overtook us.
14:26Aaron indicates
14:27left to move to
14:28the inside lane.
14:30I was watching
14:31to make sure it
14:32was safe for me
14:32to pull in.
14:34But the car
14:34behind suddenly
14:35speeds up.
14:37Dan and Scott's
14:38front dash cam
14:39picks him up
14:40passing them
14:40and gaining on
14:41Aaron's moped.
14:43I didn't even
14:43realise that he
14:44had overtook the
14:46other two cars.
14:47But Scott and
14:48Dan have.
14:49Don't keep
14:49doing it.
14:53All of a sudden
14:54he undertakes
14:55the moped.
14:56We didn't even
14:57notice it until
14:58we see the
14:58moped go down.
15:01As soon as I
15:02hit the floor I
15:02thought I was
15:03dead.
15:04My life flashed
15:05before my eyes.
15:06Aaron rolls into
15:07the path of the
15:07oncoming traffic.
15:09I didn't know
15:09whether the car
15:10had seen me or
15:10anything behind me.
15:12I was worried
15:12about my kids
15:13mostly.
15:14It was like my
15:14kids are going
15:15out of no dad.
15:16Dan and Scott
15:17can't believe
15:18what they've
15:18just witnessed.
15:20When they
15:20hit the floor
15:21it skidded
15:22a good distance
15:23away from
15:24down the road
15:24so it was
15:25quite a strong
15:26impact for it
15:26to slide
15:27that far.
15:28We look up
15:29to see if the
15:29driver has stopped
15:30because he
15:31realised what
15:31he's done
15:31and here he
15:32hasn't.
15:33He's sped
15:33off straight
15:34down the road.
15:35As they
15:36approach
15:36Aaron's momentum
15:37stops and he
15:38leaps to his
15:39feet in shock.
15:40The bike
15:41several feet
15:42in front of him.
15:43I didn't see
15:43it all happened
15:44too quick.
15:45It made me
15:46physically sick.
15:47I could have
15:48died from it
15:49and then your
15:50adrenaline kicks
15:51in and then
15:51you just jump
15:52straight up.
15:53He kind of
15:54staggered to
15:55his feet
15:56and we were
15:56like oh
15:57okay he's
15:58good and
15:58then we
15:59noticed a bit
15:59of a sway
16:00and we're
16:00like oh
16:00okay is he
16:01good?
16:02We pull up
16:02alongside
16:03my colleague
16:03informs the
16:06moped owner
16:06that he's
16:08got the
16:08footage.
16:09I got him
16:09on camera
16:10mate.
16:11I got him
16:12on camera.
16:13Do you know
16:13where he was?
16:14Do you know
16:15what that
16:15was?
16:16It's on the
16:16police.
16:17Yeah I want it
16:18now.
16:18999.
16:19Yeah yeah yeah.
16:20Scott pulls over
16:21as Dan makes
16:22the call.
16:23Yeah can we
16:24have the police
16:24please.
16:27The men
16:28here next to
16:28McDonald's in
16:29Barrie.
16:30Both men get
16:32out to check on
16:32Aaron.
16:33So he cut
16:34across his arms
16:34all his riding
16:35gear had been
16:36damaged.
16:36The hammer did
16:37his job and
16:38he seemed pretty
16:38steady and
16:39OK.
16:41But Aaron's
16:41in shock.
16:43The adrenaline
16:44just cut out
16:45and then I
16:45felt all the
16:46pain.
16:47I was limping
16:47I couldn't
16:48move my arm
16:49at all.
16:50The police
16:50take details
16:51of the accident
16:52over the phone
16:53but are unable
16:54to send a
16:55traffic unit.
16:56They advise
16:57Aaron to get
16:57himself checked
16:58out at hospital.
17:00He gets
17:00left home and
17:01goes the next
17:02day when
17:02x-rays reveal
17:04soft tissue
17:05damage to his
17:05left shoulder.
17:06I was quite
17:08relieved that
17:09I hadn't
17:09broken any
17:10bones or
17:11anything.
17:12After viewing
17:13the dash cam
17:14footage back
17:14Dan and
17:15Scott put
17:16it online.
17:18The C1
17:18actually
17:19recognises
17:19this 4x4.
17:20People were
17:21coming forward
17:22and we were
17:23able to find
17:23not only the
17:24vehicle but
17:25the driver.
17:25The driver
17:26actually did
17:27turn himself
17:28in.
17:28In an
17:29official
17:29statement
17:30South Wales
17:30police said
17:31the driver
17:31wasn't aware
17:32he'd hit
17:33the moped
17:33and was
17:34apologetic.
17:35He was
17:35given words
17:36of advice
17:36by officers.
17:38Aaron was
17:38off work
17:39for a month.
17:40He's still
17:40waiting for
17:41an insurance
17:41payout and
17:42has had to
17:43repair the
17:43bike himself.
17:45I found
17:45a guy on
17:47Facebook that
17:48was breaking
17:48the same
17:49bike.
17:49He'd done
17:50me quite a
17:50good deal
17:51for the
17:52parts I
17:52needed.
17:53It's just
17:53the frame
17:54is going
17:54to cost me
17:55quite a bit.
17:56Two months
17:56after the
17:57incident he's
17:57still having
17:58physio but
17:59has almost
17:59recovered.
18:00Getting back
18:01on his bike
18:01wasn't easy.
18:04I was having
18:05flashbacks
18:05every time
18:06I hit
18:06that road
18:06I'm always
18:08wary a lot
18:09more than
18:10what I used
18:10to be.
18:11He knows
18:12he had a
18:12very lucky
18:13escape.
18:14I've had
18:15some close
18:15calls in
18:16my time
18:16but this
18:17was one
18:17of the
18:18closest calls
18:18I could
18:19ever have.
18:19It's the
18:20only time
18:20I've ever
18:21thought I
18:21was dead.
18:21luck.
18:32Well done
18:33to Dan
18:33and Scott
18:34for stopping
18:34to help
18:35that night.
18:36Now back
18:37to somebody
18:37else also
18:38in need
18:39of assistance
18:39from passers-by
18:40and this
18:41time it's
18:42absolutely
18:42crucial.
18:43Without
18:44them
18:44he has
18:45no hope
18:46of survival.
18:53Restaurant
18:54manager Imran
18:55has plunged
18:55from a 100
18:56foot crag
18:57in the
18:57peak district
18:58plummeting
18:59into the
18:59valley below.
19:01Hikers
19:01Nadine and
19:02Carly saw
19:03him fall
19:03and have
19:04called
19:04999.
19:14Oldham
19:15Mountain
19:15Rescue
19:15and Yorkshire
19:16Air
19:16Ambulance
19:17have been
19:17scrambled
19:18and at
19:18the scene
19:19Carly is
19:20descending
19:20the steep
19:21slope
19:21towards
19:22the fallen
19:23hiker.
19:27She reaches
19:28Imran's
19:29side to
19:29find he
19:30is alive
19:31but has
19:31catastrophic
19:32injuries to
19:33his head
19:33and leg.
19:35He seemed
19:35very confused.
19:36He managed
19:37to tell me
19:37his name
19:38but he was
19:39just slipping
19:40in and out
19:40of consciousness.
19:41Two other
19:42hikers,
19:43former
19:43territorial
19:44army officer
19:44Paul and
19:45his friend
19:45Caroline,
19:46have responded
19:47to the
19:47women's calls
19:48for help.
19:49Paul provided
19:50a grid reference
19:51for the
19:51emergency services
19:52before making
19:53his way down
19:54to join
19:55Carly.
19:56And a shout
19:56down to her
19:57is he
19:57conscious?
19:59And she
20:00shouts
20:00yeah,
20:01yeah,
20:01yeah,
20:01and then
20:02she shouts
20:03it's his
20:04leg.
20:06Paul relays
20:06the information
20:07up to Caroline
20:08who has taken
20:09over the call
20:09to the emergency
20:10services.
20:11She said she
20:12thinks he's
20:12moving.
20:14She's talking to her
20:15because it looks
20:15like she's moving.
20:17Is he definitely
20:17awake?
20:18Does he look
20:19awake?
20:20He's awake.
20:21He's awake.
20:22Paul, who has
20:23first aid training,
20:25reaches Carly
20:25and Imran.
20:26he's there
20:27on this
20:2745 degree
20:28slope in
20:29effect.
20:30As it was
20:30coming around
20:31him,
20:31you could
20:32see that
20:33he had a
20:33very significant
20:34head injury,
20:35his skull
20:35had been
20:36stoving at
20:36the top,
20:37but not a
20:38lot of blood
20:38was coming
20:39out of that.
20:40Next thing
20:40you notice
20:40is that
20:41his leg,
20:43his right
20:43leg,
20:44is essentially
20:44virtually detached
20:46and parallel
20:47to the rest
20:47of his leg
20:48and it's just
20:48held on by
20:49a thin amount
20:49of skin,
20:50but no obvious
20:51bleeding coming
20:52from there.
20:52And he's
20:54writhing and
20:55he's moaning
20:55a bit.
20:55I felt very
20:56relieved when
20:57Paul made
20:58his way down
20:58the hill.
20:59He was very
21:00calm and he
21:02immediately made
21:02me feel a lot
21:03better.
21:05You've got to
21:05stop him going
21:06any further,
21:06so I put
21:07myself underneath
21:07him,
21:08I kick in a
21:09bit,
21:10he's supported
21:11then and then
21:11you start to
21:12deal with
21:13what's going
21:13on.
21:14Despite
21:15their medical
21:16training,
21:17Carly and
21:17Paul realise
21:18Imran's injuries
21:19are so severe
21:20they can't
21:21treat him.
21:21All they can
21:22do is make
21:23him comfortable
21:23until help
21:24arrives.
21:26They place
21:26Paul's survival
21:27bag over him
21:28to keep him
21:29warm.
21:30I found his
21:31coat on the
21:31way down
21:32when I'd
21:32been walking
21:32down so we
21:33put that
21:33over him
21:34as well.
21:35Carly ties
21:36Paul's
21:37luminous
21:37orange
21:37survival
21:38shelter
21:38to the
21:39heather,
21:40making it
21:40easier for
21:41them to
21:41be spotted.
21:42I was
21:43also very
21:43conscious
21:43that we
21:43got to
21:44talk to
21:44Imran.
21:45You want
21:45to keep
21:45his
21:45spirits up.
21:47Nadine
21:48comes down
21:49to join
21:49them.
21:50Further up
21:50the slope
21:51still on
21:51the phone
21:52to the
21:52emergency
21:52services,
21:53Caroline starts
21:54to document
21:55the scene
21:56as they
21:56wait.
21:57I felt like
21:57we were
21:58there a
21:59lifetime on
21:59the side
21:59of that
22:00hill.
22:02Eventually
22:02they hear the
22:03sound they've
22:03been waiting
22:04for.
22:04I think I
22:06can hear a
22:06helicopter.
22:06Oh can
22:07you,
22:07brilliant.
22:08Yeah,
22:08yeah,
22:09I can,
22:09I can.
22:10They're here,
22:11I can hang
22:11up now.
22:11Have they
22:12definitely
22:12got you?
22:13Yeah,
22:14it's a
22:14yellow one.
22:15Oh yeah,
22:16okay.
22:16Thank you,
22:17bye.
22:17Bye bye.
22:18He was
22:19struggling to
22:19land because
22:20of how
22:21bad the
22:21weather was.
22:22The
22:23Yorkshire
22:23Air
22:23Ambulance
22:24helicopter
22:25sits down
22:25on a
22:26flatter area
22:26above them
22:27and two
22:28paramedics
22:29and a
22:29surgeon make
22:30their way
22:30down the
22:31steep slope.
22:32We're talking
22:32through what
22:33we know
22:33about
22:33Imran's
22:34injuries
22:35kept me
22:35in position
22:36simply because
22:37it freed up
22:38them.
22:38It was just
22:39such a relief
22:40that he was
22:41going to get
22:41help.
22:42They were
22:43thinking of
22:43carrying him
22:44up to the
22:45helicopter on
22:46the hill or
22:46down but
22:47they decided
22:48between
22:48themselves that
22:48it was too
22:49risky.
22:50The medics
22:51immediately
22:52called for a
22:52Coast Guard
22:53helicopter hoping
22:54the wind won't
22:55be too strong
22:56to prevent
22:56Imran being
22:57winched off
22:58the mountain.
22:59They administer
23:00a strong
23:01painkiller which
23:02makes Imran
23:03less responsive
23:04but Paul does
23:05his best to
23:06keep him
23:06conscious.
23:07We were
23:07talking about
23:08he was
23:08planning a trip
23:09to climb
23:09Kilimanjaro
23:10so don't
23:11worry
23:11you'll be
23:12up and
23:12running
23:12next year
23:13anything
23:14just to
23:15build that
23:16there's
23:16something
23:16outside
23:17this world
23:17of pain
23:18that you're
23:18inhabiting
23:19now.
23:20Next to
23:20arrive are

23:22leader
23:23Adam
23:23and the
23:24team's
23:24doctor.
23:25From
23:25the fall
23:26we could
23:27assume
23:27that he
23:27had more
23:28injuries
23:28and
23:28definitely
23:29internal
23:29injuries
23:30as well.
23:31He looked
23:31like he
23:32might not
23:32survive.
23:34We knew
23:34that we
23:34were going
23:34to have
23:35to work
23:35quickly
23:35to get

23:51they'd

23:52able
23:52to
