00:00Russian hull, Indian soul
00:02BrahMos missile
00:04Don't forget the BrahMos
00:06Bang, there it goes
00:08And wait for this
00:10Like a bullet
00:12The Indian Navy just commissioned its 8th Krivak class stealth frigate
00:15The INS TAMAL
00:17Now this is the last Indian warship that will be built overseas
00:21The TAMAL was built in the Russian Federation
00:23It is one of two ships
00:25The Tushil and the TAMAL
00:27That were bought from the Russian Federation
00:30AK-190
00:32One of the most dependable 100mm guns in the Navy
00:35RBU-6000
00:37Been there for hundreds of years
00:39Very very capable, robust anti-submarine rockets
00:43That's a MR SAM
00:46Surface to air missile
00:48A knockout aircraft at 40km away
00:50Fabulous, what can I say
00:52What is it about the TAMAL and Krivak class that makes them so formidable?
00:56They have the BrahMos supersonic cruise missile
00:59They carry 8 BrahMos cruise missiles
01:01They have surface to air missiles
01:03Medium range surface to air missiles SA-7s
01:05Which can shoot down aircraft
01:07They have close in CIWS weapons
01:10The AK-630 to tackle missiles
01:12They have torpedoes to attack submarines
01:15And also they have anti-submarine rockets
01:18The RBU-6000
01:19That's what makes these Krivak class frigates
01:23Such powerful, potent weapons for the Indian Navy
01:26In fact, I'd go so far as to call them pocket destroyers
01:29Pocket destroyers were a concept of the Second World War
01:32But clearly with ships like the TAMAL
01:34And the Krivak class ships that the Indian Navy already operates
01:37These are pocket destroyers
01:39The TAMAL is named for the sword of Lord Indra
01:42It signifies the ability of the ship to be used in all three dimensions
01:47Surface, under the sea surface and in the air
01:51It can tackle incoming drones, cruise missiles, anti-ship missiles and of course attack aircraft
02:01The Indian Navy needs warships
02:07It needs a lot more warships like the TAMAL
02:10These destroyers are extremely important to achieve what is called sea control
02:15Which is to control large areas of the sea
02:17They can not only act as independent surface combatants
02:20But they can also escort other warships including carrier battle groups
02:25They can form a part of the carrier battle group's screens
02:28That is they protect the carrier from incoming threats
02:31Aircraft, submarines, other warships and so on
