00:00Madam President, Medicaid is a lifeline for seniors.
00:05More than 7 million seniors get care through Medicaid.
00:09And two in three nursing homes residents pay for that care with Medicaid.
00:16The bill we are voting today takes away key revenue sources for states and nursing homes.
00:24Brown University School of Public Health has estimated that 579 nursing homes nationwide
00:31would be at risk of closing because of this bill.
00:36And even if nursing homes do not close, then they will have to reduce their beds.
00:44This motion would simply prevent any cuts in Medicaid that could lead to nursing home closures,
00:50something I think, I believe we all can agree upon.
00:54And I would urge my colleagues to support this motion.
00:57The President's Office of Parliament, Madam President.
01:01Idaho.
01:02Madam President, Republicans are restoring integrity to the Medicaid program by closing loopholes
01:09and preventing states from exploiting Medicaid federal match rates.
01:14Medicaid's provider taxes for nursing homes and immediate care facilities are not phased
01:20down under this bill.
01:23Additionally, the bill repeals the harmful Biden Administration's nursing home staffing rule
01:28that would have forced the closure of nursing homes and long-term care facilities.
01:34I urge my colleagues to vote against this amendment.
