00:01Now, for the new manager of Bristol City, Gerard Struber,
00:05he obviously begins his first summer in charge.
00:08Now, obviously, we spoke about the appointment
00:10and with foreign managers,
00:11Bristol City haven't had the best track record as of recent as well.
00:16So this is something that they have to get right.
00:18Obviously, Liam Manning took them to the playoffs
00:19for the first time in 17 years last season.
00:23And then suddenly he's now the Norwich City manager.
00:26So a lot to go on this summer in terms of Bristol City.
00:30Maybe Manning did leave because of the sort of lack of investment
00:33behind the ownership at Bristol City.
00:36So it is something that they have to get right
00:38in terms of moving forward
00:39and making them more sustainable in the second tier
00:42and, you know, trying to really, really push on
00:45and get top six again.
00:47It's obviously, you know, the fans have now got a taste for it.
00:49They're going to want to return there as well.
00:53There has been a few signings going in.
00:55There's been a few outgoings as well for Bristol.
00:59So obviously, you know, Schruber's first summer in charge as well.
01:01He wants to make sure the spine of the team is kept,
01:05the core of the team is kept,
01:07who did obviously manage to get Bristol all that way to the top six.
01:10But he also wants to improve on it as well.
01:13There'll be, you know, likely mainly undisclosed fees.
01:15You know, focus will remain on balancing the budget and, you know,
01:21promoting from within, as Bristol City have done so well
01:24over the last, you know, 10, you know, to a decade really in the championship.
01:29So our correspondent, Dan, Dan, just let us know about where Bristol City are
01:34in this summer window, how they are planning to go ahead of it
01:38and where Gerard Struber sits in terms of the decision-making at Ashton Gate
01:43because it's obviously going to be a big summer
01:45and they want to make sure they are still competitive in the championship.
01:49Well, Charles, firstly, Bristol City have given a good few new contracts out
01:53to some of their players.
01:55George Tanner, Cameron Pring, Rob Atkinson have all signed new deals
01:58at Ashton Gate that will keep them there for at least the next season.
02:01And then, of course, you've had Adam Randall come into the club as well,
02:06so bolstering their ranks in that regard.
02:08You've had the goalkeeper, Joe Lumley, now signing to the club as well.
02:11But I think their most important transfer of the summer so far
02:15has been Gerhard Struber replacing Liam Manning as the head coach.
02:20I know this has been mentioned an awful lot
02:22and certainly it will only be discovered whether it's a good transfer
02:27when things get going in August.
02:29But certainly the way things are being talked about right now at the club,
02:32they believe it to be a very good transfer.
02:35John Lansdowne, the chairman, could not speak highly enough of Gerhard Struber
02:39saying he was the perfect fit for the club at Ashton Gate
02:42when he was announced as the head coach.
02:45So that probably is their biggest transfer of the sort that they're going to do
02:48because, of course, without their head coach, then they'd be nowhere, obviously.
02:53They had to replace Liam Manning after it was clear that he was going off to Norwich City
02:56to take up their vacant position.
02:59Obviously, that was a big blow for Bristol City losing Liam Manning
03:01given the fact that he'd achieved the playoffs with the Robins
03:05just last season in the championship.
03:07So a lot of people would have probably been forgiven for thinking,
03:10yes, he'll stay and try and build on that achievement
03:11and try and get Bristol City even higher up the table,
03:15at least be secure in the playoffs next season,
03:16if not higher up in the championship.
03:18But no, he wanted to go to Norwich.
03:20Yes, he's left with good regard at Bristol City
03:23and he's wished everyone well at the club.
03:26He had to be replaced and Gerhard Struber is that man.
03:29And obviously, the new contracts that have been given out as well,
03:32they signal intent that Bristol City wants to keep this core together
03:35that they've got currently,
03:38with the likes of Cameron Pring and George Tanner.
03:40Of course, Rob Atkinson coming back from a loan spell as well.
03:42Apparently, Gerhard Struber has made it clear
03:44that he wants him involved in the first team's activities next season,
03:47which will be positive news for Rob Atkinson.
03:50And then bringing in Joe Lumley,
03:52who has Premier League experience as well with Southampton.
03:55So you've got an experience there playing at a higher level
03:58and certainly Joe Lumley himself has talked about wanting to be
04:01in the Premier League with Bristol City.
04:03So that sets out their objectives right there.
04:06And then, of course, you've got Adam Randall coming in as well
04:08from Plymouth Argyle.
04:09So it's been a busy summer so far for Bristol City,
04:14but I can only imagine it getting more busy as well.
04:16Bristol City will not want to rest on their laurels.
04:18They want to keep developing their squad,
04:20keep strengthening the depth of their squad.
04:23They won't want to lose what they built last season.
04:26They'll want to build on that instead
04:28and look towards the playoffs once again.
04:30And if not higher, certainly it's a hive of activity at the moment
04:34at Ashton Gate and one where supporters can look forward
04:38to perhaps what is coming next season
04:40if things go right then on the pitch.
04:43You're welcome!
04:49Come on!
