00:00It's all eyes to the lights and foot to the floor as we go racing in Austria and it's a good start for Lando Norris immediately coming over to the inside and balks up Leclerc who then is taken round the outside by Piastri, the McLarens lead out of turn 1 heading towards uphill, turn 3 George Russell in the Mercedes also under pressure now but Piastri can he ever go with his teammate, Norris defends up the hill into the right hand, lock up from George Russell, he hits Max Verstappen,
00:29out of the race for George Russell, no it's Antonelli Harry, Antonelli, it's Antonelli who's locked up, there's Russell alongside his old teammate Lewis Hamilton and out in front though, Lando Norris holding on to the lead.
00:42It was Antonelli who just locked up there as the safety car unsurprisingly has been deployed, so really bad news for Max Verstappen and that enormous Dutch grandstand on the inside of turn 6, they didn't even get to see his hero come past at racing speed once today.
01:02First retirement of the season for Max Verstappen, a five-time winner here and you can see the damage that's been caused, Kimi Antonelli was the Mercedes locking up and the damage to the front left, we see this happen on lap 1 of the Red Bull ring but to take out really the home driver as the Red Bull is hoisted up rather aggressively there, straight away though Verstappen waving to the fans but that is it.
01:29Now Antonelli and Verstappen on the left-hand side of the grid there, Antonelli doesn't get a great getaway, he gets overtaken as does Charles Leclerc of course, further up at the front.
01:42Now we'll see the run to turn 3, looking back from Lando Norris, decent launch and actually the top 3 got a pretty good launch but Norris chose to cover off the inside there with Leclerc and that opened up the door for Piastri to come around the outside.
01:58Oscar's now got the slipstream, he got a great toe so look to the left of your screen, that is Oscar having a go around Norris, Norris covered it off nicely.
02:05Further back Antonelli completely there in a lunge and Lawson getting caught up in that melee as well as Bortoletto, those two lucky to carry on, on board with Max's snap-in so he's on the outside, minding his own business on the outside of Lewis Hamilton there and whack, gets the big hit from Mercedes.
02:25It's the end of a 31 race point streak for Max Verstappen, here we are on board with Kimi Antonelli, he knows already, he's got caught out, he's got caught out by how early they've slowed down for that corner, then he's gone, oh there's a gap.
02:46Sorry about that, lock the rear, sorry.
02:49Here comes Oscar Piastri, Lando Norris moves to the inside, side by side for the two McLarens, Piastri through, Norris will try and fight back and get the undercut, can he get on the throttle earlier?
03:00It's line of stand for the two McLarens, now Norris will get the DRS and blasts back past Piastri, but Piastri keeps his foot in it, who's going to break later?
03:11Lock up from Piastri, Norris back through and into the lead, what racing in these early stages, Piastri coming in.
03:19Yeah, he's going for it!
03:20Down the inside, not a turn six surely, for Oscar Piastri, no, tried it though, but these two having a brilliant battle as Norris just a little bit twitchy on the exit.
03:33Oli Behrman having a look around the outside here, Harry.
03:35This was a little earlier, this, oh no it wasn't actually, I think this is most recently, the incident between Behrman and Colopinto was noted that's not being investigated any further, and then against the other Alpine of Pierre Gasly, Oli Behrman making his way up the order.
03:50We need Leico, all corners Charles, every lap.
03:53That's what I am doing, Brian, that is what I'm doing.
03:58Leico, lift and coast for Charles Leclerc, that's what he's trying to do.
04:03This, Orlando Norris did run wide there, he's been flirting with it, coming through the final corner, that really slowed him down.
04:11McLaren have a buffer, and, you know, good on them to let the cars race, as Yuki Tsunoda throws it up the inside of the Aston Martin, bit of wheelbanging, with Lance Stroll there, stun some front wing damage to the Red Bull.
04:25And that has been noted.
04:27Oh sorry Ted, Piastri's trying to down the inside at four, locks up that front right, almost into the back of him.
04:33Norris manages to hold on to the lead, but Piastri pushing there, he knows that now is the time, with pit stops imminent, and sliding out of the corner for Norris.
04:43So close for the two McLarens, and there, on cue, the lead car, Lando Norris, told to box-box, come in for his first pit.
04:51They've extended what they thought was possible.
04:53Oh, on the grass there, and Lewis Hamilton, flying his way round the outside of Liam Lawson, through turn six, and then again through turn seven.
05:03Hamilton having to work hard there, to get through on the young Kiwi.
05:08I have no grip, crazy.
05:11I'm about to spin every corner.
05:13The two Haas cars are still going toe-to-toe, down the inside, for Tsunoda, can they keep it clean?
05:19No, and they come together, Tsunoda with a touch to Colopinto, round he goes, and he's quick to get back on his way.
05:27And while they were battling, just in front, we had the two Haas cars as well.
05:30Simple touch to the right rear, and round goes Colopinto.
05:34We've seen a lot of incidents in the past, haven't we?
05:36Down at turn four, Colopinto will say, I gave him enough racing room, and Tsunoda will say, I was taking the line, and he turned in on me.
05:46This is Oscar Piastri, first of all, coming into turn one.
05:52The rear of the car started to just step out of line as he got under braking there, and this is the look that you wanted, Harry, bang on cue.
06:01Lewis Hamilton turns in and gets a snap of oversteer at the apex, just corrects the wheel, and bounces over that little sausage curb there.
06:11No major high, he's sort of in a race by himself, isn't he, Lewis? He's too far away from Charles Leclerc.
06:16Is my pastry bad? Because the tyres are fine.
06:18And we box now, for fastest race, optimal race.
06:21Yeah, but tyres are OK, can I extend?
06:23How many more laps left?
06:25And box, 20 laps.
06:28I don't want to stop.
06:3020 laps left.
06:31Box.
06:32Well, the radio messages are delayed. He didn't want to stop, but he's come in. 2.2 seconds, and he is released.
06:40The gap between Norris and Piastri, Harry. 3.3 seconds, Colopinto.
06:46He had darted down the inside and locks up the brakes. Tsunoda bites back, and there is Oscar Piastri, and Colopinto is moving over on the championship leader.
06:55Forces Emil McGrath. Does he realise that he's not racing him? Makes his mate through. Piastri, heart in his mouth.
07:04He's gone for the move. He's locked up. He's gone wide. Tsunoda's come back past him. Fine.
07:08But at this stage, he's thinking about trying to get into the slipstream behind Tsunoda.
07:13The team, I presume, and maybe I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and say they hadn't told him, but normally the team would say you've got Piastri coming behind to Lafbue.
07:24Oscar Piastri has taken 1.2 seconds out of Lando Norris.
07:29If I need some pace, please help.
07:32Lando, the main pace difference right now is high speed. Hopefully linked just to traffic.
07:36To see your prey right in front of you, and Piastri now, he's got a clean line of sight as Norris went wide over the kerb at Turn 3.
07:45Piastri's going to have a clean line of sight with no lap cars between him, and he'll be just trying to close that gap down.
07:53This is Portoleto's chance. He's got to make it count.
07:57Yeah, let's see how he fares in the run-up towards Turn 3.
08:01Tsunoda gets nicely out of the way of Norris. Portoleto, does he dive down the inside of Fernando Alonso?
08:07He does. Nice clean move, but Alonso will try and bite back with the undercut side by side.
08:13And one of them, well, there's Alonso with the DRS.
08:16McLaren have not won around the Red Bull ring since 2001.
08:21Lando Norris puts that right today.
08:24Norris wins the Austrian Grand Prix.
08:27McLaren won two at the Red Bull ring.
08:31Piastri tried all his might, but in the end, has to settle for second place.
08:38But the McLaren team, letting their cars fight on track, giving them both every possible chance in this race.
08:46And that led us to enjoy a brilliant Austrian battle.
08:50Norris wins. Piastri, Charles Leclerc takes home the final spot on the podium for Ferrari, the top ten.
08:56Well done, mate. Well done. Great job.
08:59Yeah, well done, everyone. Beautiful one, two.
09:03That was great.
09:04Thanks, everyone. Amazing work. Just keep it up.
