Armed Forces Day in Eastbourne 2025

00:00In military when obviously people come away from service they tend to go in the background

00:08and they don't talk about their experiences so it's very important that we've got support

00:12of the public not only for things that are on forces day but a popular appeal as well which

00:17all raises money for the welfare of veterans serving personnel and their families and it's

00:23important that we get each public on board because in Eastbourne alone there is estimated

00:28between five and six thousand veterans in the community and we don't see them very often in

00:33this kind of event we'll pull them out of the woodwork it gives the public a chance to see who's

00:38actually served the country for where we are in the country we are now yeah we've been eight months

00:44in the planning and it's been a very busy couple of days getting here we're just about there now

00:50and once we see it all together both me and the team we're very proud of what we've achieved and

00:56hopefully everything goes well it really does pull on your heart strings if you're involved in

01:02organising it it's a lot of hard work and i've got a lot of thanks out to the team that made this

01:07possible and everyone that supported us including our sponsors which have been fantastic this year

01:12it's an honour to be here in five acre field celebrating armed forces day it's been happening

01:19now this celebration here in eastbourne for several years now getting bigger and better every year it is

01:26so important because our armed forces do so much putting their lives on the line to protect

01:34all of us and so i'm here to honour the sacrifices and the commitment that our armed forces have made

01:42and to stand right by them on behalf of our town and thank them for everything they do to keep us

01:48safe so thank you uh once again for inviting me here it's an honour to stand here on behalf of our town

01:54and thank you to every single group uh that's represented here showcasing the best of our armed

02:00forces and supporting today and thank you uh to alan leith uh daf genanaza and all of the volunteers

02:09involved with uh as well as the royal british legion and every other uh military association that's

02:17here who have helped to make this an event that eastbourne can be proud of thank you so much
