Gavin Newsom has gone scorched earth on Fox News, claiming host Jesse Watters intentionally lied to make the California Governor look like a liar in his battle with Donald Trump over activating the military in Los Angeles to quell immigration protests.

00:00California's governor, Gavin Newsom, is really upset about a report about his conversation,

00:06his phone call with President Trump earlier this month.

00:09Upset to the tune of 200 and some odd million dollars.

00:13700.

00:14Oh, 700.

00:15$787 million is the defamation lawsuit he has filed against Fox News, not President Trump.

00:23We'll get to that in a moment.

00:24But what he's suing over, this was when President Trump mobilized the National Guard and the Marines, sent them here to L.A.

00:34So let me try this.

00:35So on June 7th, that's an important date.

00:38On June 7th, Donald Trump did speak with Gavin Newsom.

00:43And Gavin Newsom said, I object strongly to you nationalizing, activating the National Guard.

00:50The next day, on June 8th, Trump did it.

00:55He activated the Guard.

00:56Newsom was pissed.

00:58On June 10th, two days later, Trump had a news conference in the Oval Office.

01:03And he told reporters, do we have the sound on this?

01:06Yes.

01:07This is what the president said June 10th in the Oval Office.

01:11Mr. President, when is the last time you spoke with Governor Newsom?

01:14A day ago.

01:18Called him up to tell him, got to do a better job.

01:21He's doing a bad job.

01:23Causing a lot of death and a lot of potential death.

01:26So Newsom says that was a bold-faced lie that Donald Trump told there.

01:33That he never spoke with him the day before.

01:35That would have been June 9th.

01:37Never spoke with him.

01:38They never had that conversation.

01:42And Newsom was pissed.

01:45Now, fast forward to Fox News.

01:47Right.

01:47So, on Jesse Waters' show, in the lawsuit, what Gavin Newsom points out is that he's accusing

01:55Fox News and Jesse Waters' producers, I guess, of deceptively editing that soundbite from President

02:03Trump and making it seem like he didn't ever say yesterday or a day ago that he had spoken

02:12to Gavin Newsom.

02:12What Jesse Waters did show during his show was a call log that Fox News reporter John

02:21Roberts got from the president, and that's his call log showing that he spoke to Gavin

02:27Newsom on June 7th, as you mentioned, Harvey.

02:29Which was an actual call.

02:31Right.

02:31And that call did happen.

02:33Gavin Newsom even acknowledges that call happened.

02:34So I guess then the issue that I think Gavin Newsom is raising is, well, look at the log.

02:39The log does not support what Donald Trump says, because the log says that it was June

02:447th, and Trump's talking about June 9th, and he never had a talk with him then.

02:48Here's what Jesse Waters said in the air.

02:49Trump's not waiting around this time.

02:52He says if it wasn't for him, L.A. would be up in smoke.

02:56Called him up to tell him, got to do a better job, he's doing a bad job, causing a lot of

03:04Newsom responded, and he said there wasn't a phone call.

03:07He said Trump never called him, not even a voicemail.

03:09He said, but John Roberts got Trump's call logs, and it shows Trump called him late

03:14Friday night, and they talked for 16 minutes.

03:17Why would Newsom lie and claim Trump never called him?

03:20Why would he do that?

03:21So Newsom's saying-

03:22So this is really all over.

03:24When was that they made it seem like Gavin Newsom was lying when he said he didn't speak

03:30to Donald Trump on June 9th?

03:32But-

03:32There's no proof that he-

03:33And by the way, other than Donald Trump saying it, there's no proof he did.

03:36And as a matter of fact, I think you can infer he didn't speak to him on June 9th, because

03:41if Trump sent the call log on June 7th, if there really was a call on June 9th, he would

03:47have sent that one.

03:48It would have, obviously.

03:49So it does seem like the call only happened on the 7th, not on the 9th.

03:54And that Newsom wasn't lying, and when Newsom said Trump was lying, so far we haven't seen

05:40But, Mike, you're saying, like, oh, he's just taking a shot.

05:44But that's what Trump does all the time, and that's fine, I guess, if you're fine with that.

05:49But you can't now say to the other side, go like, oh, look at what he's taking cheap shots.

06:10in this move because we, as citizens of this country, no longer trust traditional media.

06:15And we can see a president whose mental facilities are in decline because he is our elderly commander-in-chief.

06:22Therefore, the media has twice as much responsibility in reporting the facts and not the feelings of our president.
