7 arrested after two Dalit men brutally assaulted in Odisha’s Ganjam, forced to drink drain water

Ganjam (Odisha), June 24, 2025 (ANI): Talking to ANI on Dalit torture incident happened on June 22, Ganjam SP, Suvendhu Kumar Patra, shared that from 9 detained, the 7 accused have been already arrested and the rest are about to get arrested. Two Dalit men were allegedly tonsured, assaulted and forced to crawl on their knees and consume grass and drain water on suspicion of cattle smuggling in Odisha's Ganjam district.He said, "It is very unfortunate. A case was registered immediately. Nine people were detained in connection with the case, and after interrogation, seven have been arrested. Others involved have also been identified. We have assured the victims that a chargesheet will be filed promptly, and the necessary compensation will be provided to them."
