00:04And then when your pitching staff is really kind of one guy,

00:07or your rotation anyway is really kind of one guy,

00:10you can't give up outs in the field or on the bases.

00:13And we've been saying this about this team all year long.

00:16It felt like there was a time where they had kind of solved

00:19a lot of their defensive issues, and then that has come flying back.

00:22Even in some of these games that they win, they're like,

00:24oh, you got away with that, or you got away with this one.

00:26And then that combination of that and running into outs,

00:29you're like, all right, you're not good enough to win that.

00:32You can't do that and then be like, all right,

00:34we're going to stock a couple of three-run homers and win the game.

00:36It's like, I don't think so.

00:38And without Devers, too, it's like you're without him.

00:41You already didn't have this great margin for error.

00:44Yesterday, the defense was so bad.

00:45I blame Duran on that fly ball more so than Eaton.

00:49He's the veteran. He's the outfielder coming in.

00:51He's got to call him off and make it known that it's his ball

00:54and call Eaton off of it.

00:56The Romy Gonzalez play was brutal.

00:59I mean, that's a line drive, like kind of a soft line drive, right at him.

01:03The game snowballed on him from there.

01:04So, no, I agree.

01:05Without Devers, I think they can be better.

01:09I don't think they've waved the white towel on the season and given up.

01:14Your margin for error is just even less without Devers.

01:24Because I think right now there's a group of fans that are really pissed

01:27about the trade and the return.

01:30There's a group of fans that are probably like, all right,

01:31especially the way the weekend unfolded, screw Devers, like,

01:34let's kind of move on.

01:35And then there's probably a group that's saying,

01:36let's see what you do in the next month.

01:38And if you add to the team, great.

01:41I even like the Devers deal more.

01:42If you don't, I'm going to hate it even more.

01:45And you're going to say, all right, you're just saving money.

01:47And you took a team that was, as much as they were up and down in 500,

01:52they were in the playoffs the day after you traded Devers.

01:54They were a playoff team.

01:56And if you replace him with Jordan Hicks,

01:58you can't say you're trying to win this year.

02:01No, you just can't.

02:02Now, I, maybe it's my own naivete.

02:06I think they bring in another player that is at least an everyday player

02:12and or one of five guys that starts.
