00:00all right let's take a check on the team starting then with Sweden and their
00:05manager Tommy Svensson in fact calls this the toughest challenge ever for the
00:08Swedish football side they're without their midfielder Stefan Schwartz of
00:12course who's suspended so it's vital then that their captain Jonas turn his
00:16back and indeed he is he missed the quarter-final because of injury although
00:20my understanding is that he's still not a hundred percent fit Martin Dahlin who
00:24missed the earlier game against Brazil he's certainly there in the line-up as
00:28well
00:31so much then for the Swedes Brazil field an unchanged side the one that thrillingly
00:35got past Holland in the quarter-finals still no place for Rai the captain in
00:38midfield Dunga becomes the captain again that dynamic partnership up front though
00:43Babeto and Romario between them they've scored seven of the ten goals Brazil to
00:47their credit so far in this tournament and it was Romario who scored Brazil's
00:51goal in the 1-1 draw with Sweden earlier in the tournament in Detroit
00:58the referee comes from Colombia 41 year old salesman Jose Torres in fact it's his
01:06fourth game in this World Cup and in the previous three he's issued no fewer than
01:1218 yellow cards and Babeto really plays his part too it's it's rumored that they
01:19don't get on but they keep denying that and certainly on the field they have a
01:24terrific telepathy they both go hunting goals they're totally different
01:29characters Romario himself says that Babeto is a sort of lad who likes to go
01:32home and he said I'm much more of a street cat on the field my goodness they
01:39color the edge of Gailwell well Martin darling there having a last
01:51few private thoughts 90 minutes away maybe from our place in the World Cup final
01:53sides of change strips the Brazilians never somehow put quite so imposing as I've said
01:55before outside their yellow strips in all blue the Swedes in all white
01:59All white.
02:03Mazzino over here on the right-hand side.
02:06Jorginho.
02:09This is turn, the captain.
02:11Hitting a ball long, but Darlene is surrounded by three blue shirts there.
02:17And it was Moro Silva who got it away.
02:20Branco on the far side, and then Zinho.
02:26Moro Silva.
02:29Ball allowed to go out of play there by Mazzino.
02:35It'll be a throw to Sweden.
02:38As I say, they've never beaten the Brazilians six times they've met in the World Cup.
02:42Once, of course, in the final of 1958.
02:49But it's always a first time.
02:51Oh, there's a bit of shoving there by Darlene.
02:53Quite right, the referee spotted that quickly.
02:55Cut it out, he said.
02:56Three players from each side on yellow cards.
03:00Another yellow card in this game, of course.
03:03Would mean missing the final for the eventual winners here.
03:06The ball played up to Darlene again.
03:09He, in fact, missed that first game in Detroit.
03:11He was suspended.
03:12A man who turned down Everton.
03:13Darlene again to stay playing his football in Germany with Mönchengladbach.
03:20Jung with the throw for Sweden.
03:22Ingersen.
03:23These tall men.
03:24There's so many six-footers there.
03:25Brolin has stolen in there.
03:28In fact, that first half of that game in Detroit,
03:31the Brazilians were really rattled.
03:33The Swedes turned on the style in the most wonderful way.
03:36Here's Brolin.
03:37They were leading with a goal to nil.
03:38Scored by Kenneth Anderson.
03:41And then they just slept for a moment at the start of the second half
03:45and in stole Romario.
03:46And it finished 1-1.
03:48Here's Jorginho.
03:49That wonderful right back look for Bayern Munich.
03:52Old Ayer.
03:56I think it long to Branko.
03:59It's come into the side now that Leonardo is suspended.
04:02But Branko certainly adds a lot of power down that left hand.
04:05And of course, he's got a terrific free kick on him.
04:07Here he is again.
04:09Cutting the ball inside to Dunga.
04:11A little touch again here.
04:13And a shot by Romario and a cane.
04:17Oh.
04:18She criticized him the other day, Ravelli,
04:20for that strange goalkeeping style
04:22when he punches rather than catches.
04:24But at least he got a bit more distance on that one.
04:27But again, a curious bit of goalkeeping, Ron.
04:29Yes, I think when Romario was struck the ball,
04:31the ball's doing plenty through the air.
04:33I mean, there's been a lot made of this new ball
04:36that makes more movement in the air.
04:38And I think Ravelli has said to himself,
04:40I'm down the line of it.
04:40I'm not going to run the risk of doing what maybe Bonner did
04:43or something like that.
04:44I'm just going to make sure I get it clear.
04:48A yellow card.
04:50For Zinho.
04:52They're putting a three-man wall up
04:54and that must be fully, what, around 40?
04:55He's got to be 40 yards out.
04:57He's going to have a pop without any doubt.
05:01That ball will fly through this Californian air.
05:05And Ravelli knows,
05:06who was such a hero, of course,
05:08in that penalty shootout.
05:10It's a much longer range than that.
05:12But here he comes.
05:13Franco's shot.
05:15And Ravelli got it.
05:16Spilled it for a moment.
05:17Got it again.
05:18I fancy that is too much of a distance,
05:28but he's still an ugly ball
05:29and look who's right on top of him.
05:32Deportiva, La Coruña, in Spain.
05:33And Tafferil got down.
05:46And...
05:47Franco, Zinho, Romario.
06:01Made it to Bebeto.
06:02Oh, this is some great play!
06:04Oh!
06:05Oh, that was a great chance there for Zinho.
06:08And they sliced through that Swedish defence
06:12as though it was non-existent.
06:13Wonderful play.
06:16But in the end, not the finish Brazil wanted.
06:18Well, that might be just one of the misses of the tournament.
06:21Look at that slick play.
06:22Cannot really miss.
06:23Doesn't even make the keeper work.
06:25But that all starts again, Brian,
06:27by Romario dropping off the front
06:28and dropping into that little position.
06:30It's a lovely little skill.
06:33He's looking for offside.
06:33He wasn't offside.
06:35And really, that is...
06:38Porto Silva getting it forward.
06:40Dunga, here they come again.
06:41Setting about their business once more.
06:43Playing it wide for Jorginho.
06:44A superb attacking fullback.
06:47Driving his cross here.
06:49Dunga hoping to get on the end of it,
06:50but the pace and the bounce being here.
06:53And they play it carefully wide again for Franco.
06:56Terrific left foot he's got.
06:58Will he come through to Romario?
06:59That's a goal.
07:02No!
07:02Saved on the line.
07:03That's in you.
07:04No!
07:05My goodness me.
07:10Oh.
07:12Now, if you could have stopped the action
07:14when Romario had gone round Ravelli,
07:18you would have put a million pounds on him scoring.
07:21Well, this is some brilliant little dummies.
07:23And there he attacks the heart of the defence.
07:25Could have scored him.
07:26Gone round him.
07:26Could score now.
07:27There's a million pounds on that, isn't there?
07:28Yeah, he's turned round now.
07:30He's counted that.
07:31As far as he's concerned,
07:32that's another one in the back.
07:34Patrick Anderson saved on the line.
07:38Yeah, full marks.
07:38Look at the defender.
07:39The defenders make good ground
07:40to make the recovery there, Patrick Anderson.
07:43And I suppose you would say,
07:45how's that missed?
07:47How did Mazzino miss the second one?
07:49I don't know.
07:52They get it all the way up to Zinho.
07:55But Broline takes possession.
07:57Here's Ingersson.
07:58Class Ingersson.
07:59And away goes Bebeto.
08:05Only Bjorkman is back.
08:07It's with Romario.
08:08It must be now, surely.
08:11No.
08:16Brazilian commentators in France have got their arms in the air.
08:19They can't believe it.
08:20And probably you at home either.
08:22Can't believe it.
08:23Bebeto on a wonderful break.
08:26An inch perfect ball in for Romario.
08:29Oh, he's laid that right into it.
08:30Oh, it's a replica of the goal against Holland.
08:32Just gets caught up under his feet.
08:35Full marks to Ravelli, though.
08:36He stays with him all the while.
08:37He stays with him and still forces him wide.
08:39That's right.
08:40Not the better of him.
08:40Bebeto playing it wide here for Franco.
08:42Franco.
08:47Franco again.
08:49Cross coming in.
08:52Will they get a 1-2 going?
08:53It's Bebeto.
08:56A flag up, in fact, for an offside.
09:01Well, if you're staying up late in Britain watching this,
09:05I'm sure you'll feel it's worthwhile.
09:06I hope it's a goal or two to keep you happy as well.
09:10I thought we were going to see an absolute replica of Baggio's goal there, didn't we?
09:14Obviously, he can't use his left foot,
09:16so he turns back in play and then just hoists a long run in.
09:18Usually just to Darlene, who's on his own and very much outnumbered.
09:22Here's Romario again.
09:25Feel a quiver running down Swedish spines whenever he gets possession like that.
09:29Oh, goodness.
09:30Whipped that cross in, Jorginho.
09:32Massini over the shot.
09:34Spilled again by Ravelli, but...
09:37Patrick Anderson was very quickly there to support him.
09:40Falls very tamedly to Jorginho.
09:45You don't get the impression, there's the belief with Darlene and Kenneth Anderson.
09:48Oh, my goodness.
09:50That was Patrick Anderson making a terrific interception there as the halftime whistle goes.
09:55Well, Brazil have had the chances.
09:57They've had, I would figure, maybe 75, 80% of the play.
10:01Romario, of all people, has missed the chances that you would have thought
10:04could have made the game safer, Brazil.
10:06It hasn't.
10:07The Swedes are still in there fighting.
10:09And it's Brazil nil, Sweden nil.
10:11Welcome back.
10:14It's Brazil nil, Sweden nil in Pasadena.
10:16Brazil, Jakob had all the chances.
10:18Surely a goal has got to come sometime soon.
10:20Well, you would think so, but I think once the coach gets at the Swedish lads a little bit
10:26and tells them when, I mean, they've got to come off and feed away
10:30when Romario goes into midfield, turns on a ball.
10:33The centre-backs are standing in a straight line
10:35and they're feeding balls through them or running through them.
10:38They've got to go with him and make him keep going.
10:41And the whole Swedish game is about playing like the Brazilians are in midfield.
10:46That's not the way they should be approaching this.
10:47You should be turning them, pushing them out
10:49and getting the crosses in for their own big lads.
10:52But they're not getting enough people into the box either, the Swedes.
10:55And it's only a matter of time before Brazil score.
10:58It's not been bad luck either, has it, really?
11:00They've just misplaced their chances
11:03because the first one, we can have a look at Zinho,
11:05straight into the side, Nessie, when the goal surely was easy as a hit.
11:09Yeah, it's not, it's bad finishing, you've got to say that.
11:12But probably the wrong people getting in in this instance.
11:14He's on his left foot. I don't think he's his strongest,
11:17but he must hit the target.
11:18He must make the goalkeeper make a save.
11:20And he'd be disappointed with that.
11:22And I think they're making a big mistake, the Swedes,
11:24because they're, as Jack says, they're allowing them to play through them.
11:27And what Brazil want to do is play through them.
11:30They haven't really got any pace.
11:31I mean, Romario's got fair pace and Bebeto a little bit.
11:33But the others from midfield, Dunger and people like that,
11:36are not going to get through them, other than passing through.
11:39And if you look at Romario, he's doing what Peter Beardsley does a lot.
11:42Yes.
11:42Just dropping off.
11:43And he's asking a question of the defenders, and they can't do it.
11:47This is probably an even better chance.
11:49It's a lovely build-up, a lovely...
11:50I thought there was a little bit of a foul on Ingersoll,
11:52but once he goes through, the defenders don't touch him.
11:54He's in the box.
11:55He goes round, he should be hammering this,
11:58but I don't think he was aware of the fact that Anderson was getting back.
12:01But what about this?
12:02I mean, that's got to be the miss of the tournament.
12:06I mean, are they overconfident, Jack?
12:08Is that the problem?
12:09I don't think so.
12:10That's the way they win the games.
12:12I mean, there's very little other chances.
12:13They're not crossing any balls and getting headers in for the score goals.
12:16That is the way they play.
12:17Now, if the Swedes are going to get a chance in this game,
12:20they've got to stop them playing the way they're best at.
12:23On this one, it's a great early ball from Babaito.
12:26Now, he's bought the time for Romario.
12:28Unfortunately, his first touch lets him down.
12:30He stumbles.
12:31And from this point on, I thought the goalkeeper did excellent.
12:33It's been down once, got up, and he's done enough.
12:36It's one of those, that's almost a direct, like the first goal against the Dutch,
12:41where he broke down the left, squared it, and Romario's run onto it, and he's buried it.
12:45But in that case, instead of just doing what he should have done when he came to the ball and hit it,
12:49he's taken it and taken it, and he's allowed people to cut him off and to force him a little bit wider.
12:54And once you're forced wide, it becomes more and more difficult to know where the goals are.
12:58But, I mean, he's had some great chances.
13:00It's most unlikely him to miss them.
13:02But I'll tell you, if they let the Swedes in, if the Swedes can pick up and do it,
13:07they've got to steal him with a chance.
13:09I mean, I've never seen an international side yet where somebody didn't have one great chance.
13:13I was going to say that, are the Swedes going to get back into it?
13:15Because at the moment, their best chance is penalties.
13:17I think Tommy Svensson at half-time, he's got to look at two things.
13:21Certainly, darling, I mean, if any Everton fans watching him today,
13:24will be glad that they didn't sign him.
13:26Because, honestly, he is poor.
13:27Not just his use of the ball, but his work rate is very, very poor for an international player.
13:34And Brolin, who I think is an excellent player, because he's playing on the right side,
13:38he just can't get in the game.
13:39Oh, well, that's the view from the studio.
13:41We can have the view now from the stadium and join Tony Francis.
13:46Yes, before we get into that, let me just tell you the latest on Eric Cantona.
13:49What's going on here is that he's ensconced in his hotel bedroom watching this match on television,
13:54which is not exactly what he was paid to come here and do.
13:56But there's no news of any charges against him.
13:59So let's hope that's the last we hear of it.
14:02The feeling here, Alexei, is that if Brazil don't score soon, Sweden could make them pay for it.
14:07Yeah, I think that Sweden right now is in a very good position.
14:11They've defended a whole lot this first half, and they've had some scary chances.
14:15But if they can hold on for another 15 minutes or so in the second half,
14:18it's going to make it very difficult for Brazil to come back.
14:21Brazil is very confident that they're going to win the game,
14:22but if they don't score, you never know what's going to happen.
14:25Yeah, I mean, you were in the situation when they played against the USA
14:27where it took a long time for them to get on top of you, didn't it?
14:30Exactly, and the longer it goes, it's more of an advantage for Sweden
14:33because they can get that counter-attack goal.
14:35They're defending the whole game right now.
14:37They've only had maybe one chance, and Brazil has had most of the play,
14:40and quite frankly, many chances that they should have scored.
14:43But the longer that they don't score, the more difficult it is for them
14:46to come out with a win here.
14:47OK, well, you'll be joining us, I'm happy to say, on Sunday for the final.
14:51Welcome back. It's goalless in Pasadena between Brazil and Sweden,
14:55but if it stays that way, then we'll miss out on the chance
14:57to see perhaps the most interesting celebration of a goal
15:01you can see anywhere in this World Cup.
15:03I'm talking about Babeto, what he scores, and what he does.
15:08Curious motion, isn't it?
15:09And it's not just him that does it.
15:12Well, the explanation is fairly simple.
15:14There you are, there's Mrs Babeto with his new son, Mateo,
15:18who was born last week.
15:21He was rocking the infant, and the chant is now three men and a baby.
15:27Bad jokes out of the way now, chaps.
15:29Moving on to the serious business of the match ahead.
15:32Do you get the feeling that if Brazil continue to miss chances
15:35like they have done, that they could get caught?
15:37Definitely. I get the feeling it's a bit like watching a boxing match
15:41where one boxer is totally on top, but the danger is one punch, knock him out.
15:47And I feel the only person I can see getting it for Sweden is Andersen,
15:50who I think if they knock in some more simpler balls,
15:53he's won his fair share, hasn't he?
15:54Yeah. You've got strengths in your team.
15:57Andersen up front is one of the strengths in the air.
15:59He's got to get the far push. He's got to challenge for a few things.
16:02They've got big lads, but they're only getting them in the box one at a time.
16:05I mean, Brolin is a great getter forward, but he hasn't got forward in this game.
16:11Darlene has got to move a lot more.
16:13All sorts of things have got to put right.
16:14We shall see if it happens.
16:16And rejoin now our commentations.
16:18Ron Atkinson and first, Brian Moore.
16:22Andersen, number 19, who scored a terrific goal against Brazil.
16:27In Detroit.
16:30With some help from Brolin.
16:33So away we go.
16:35Nielsen now to Brolin.
16:36Nielsen now to Brolin.
16:42Nielsen, Young.
16:43Nielsen, Young.
16:50Rye with his first touch.
16:51A little chest down to Jorginho.
16:53You're saying that if, in fact, the Swedes do make a change and turn might be struggling for pace and so on,
17:03they might take him out and put Nielsen in and who would enter the midfield and who would you have replacing?
17:08Yeah, looking at the players he's got available.
17:11Let's have a look at this first, Ron.
17:13Ross coming in from the right there.
17:15The players he's got available, yeah.
17:16Yeah, if the players he's got available, I mean, Nielsen is far happier in a more central area where he can use his power and his pace.
17:22And I just wonder whether it might be Anders Limpers time.
17:26Certainly, I think Jonas Tern is struggling for his life, you know, with the fitness thing.
17:31He can't get close to the game and he's having to use all the experience he's got to sort of stay in the game.
17:40Rye now in possession.
17:43Romario, back to Rye!
17:45Is it chance here?
17:46No.
17:47Ravelli has done extremely well.
17:49And he throws the ball in the touch so that he can get some treatment.
17:57First thing that strikes me here, Brian, is Rye.
18:00That's the second attack they've had and he's already been the most advanced player in that.
18:04So, lovely slip to the ball from Romario.
18:06It's a little bit tight, in all fairness, to Rye, particularly as a guy that's just come on.
18:10But look at that, little slip ball through the hole.
18:13Can't quite gather it.
18:14And I'd get full marks to the goalkeeper there.
18:16I think that's great goalkeeping.
18:18I'm not happy with Rye's challenge there, but Sweden very happy with that.
18:21Little back heel from Brolin to Darlene.
18:24And suddenly Kenneth Anderson.
18:26Can Brolin get on the end of this one?
18:28No, Taperel's there.
18:31And the throwout finds Jorginho.
18:37Dunga.
18:38I know this has retained the captain's armband, even though Rye's on the field.
18:46Oh, a great save!
18:48By Remy!
18:48Zinho gave that everything he's got.
18:55It took a wicked little deflection on the way.
19:00From Patrick Anderson, who was falling.
19:02And that was a super save.
19:05Tried to feed it through to Bebeto.
19:09And now they get it through to Branco on the left-hand side.
19:12Again, some sharp defending there.
19:15By Roland Nilsson.
19:18Turn battling away.
19:20Captain against captain.
19:21Oh, that was a silly challenge.
19:23And that's a red card!
19:27For Jönes Turn, the Swedish captain.
19:33Sweden down to ten men.
19:36Turn was already on a yellow card.
19:38And for that challenge, he gets a red.
19:51Ladies and gentlemen, the red card has been issued to number nine.
19:57I'll tell you what, it was a silly challenge.
19:58And you could see the Colombian referee absolutely standing three yards away,
20:04looking very closely at it.
20:05He just wonders, well, you know, when a player's not completely fit,
20:08whether he has to sort of manipulate himself somehow to get to a challenge.
20:14Well, to remember what Sweden did with ten men against Romania.
20:18Maybe ten men against Romania and ten men against Brazil is a different thing.
20:22But we know their spirit is high.
20:25And it needs to be at the highest level now.
20:28And that's a little position he likes, but he's got a full whack on that.
20:57And there's Ravalli stopping the ball going in again.
21:03How many votes will he get for the keeper of the tournament?
21:07A heavy challenge.
21:10Rolium with the free kick for Sweden.
21:15Terrific free kick, wasn't it?
21:16Have they produced the first goal against Romania?
21:21So they were much closer in then.
21:22Here's Wren, the substitute.
21:24That's a long-range shot.
21:25Well, it asks just a little question, not a serious one, of Tapparel.
21:31Franco will, rather Xenio brings it forward.
21:35Dunga.
21:36See, if you talk about bringing them out, they can play it about at the back, across the back all match, Brazil now.
21:43The Swedes won't come and try and hunt the ball.
21:46That one of the scoreline stays as it is.
21:48Right.
21:49Moro Silva playing it wide.
21:51Jorginho.
21:52Romario.
21:52Moro Silva.
21:53There's the cross coming in.
21:57Rye was trying a bicycle kick.
22:02But in fact, his foot must have just caught a Swedish defender.
22:05It was regarded as dangerous play.
22:08They're looking actually very, very comfortable, I must say that.
22:12Far more comfortable than they were first half.
22:14Because they're not overstretching now.
22:19Jorginho gets it back for Bebeto.
22:21It's dropped very deep there.
22:22Rye just playing it in.
22:24Moro Silva with a shot.
22:27Thought that had gone in for a moment.
22:35It's the first time for some minutes that they've actually been able to pick them up.
22:39I must say, I go along with you.
22:40And I thought that was, pick that one out.
22:45Bren going in there, charging with a few elbows flailing, it seemed to me, there.
22:49Free kick.
22:53Brolin claiming, I think that there was an elbow there.
22:57Yes, Brolin definitely claiming that Branco elbowed him.
23:01But the Colombian referee has given a free kick to Brazil.
23:04And away we go again.
23:09More of a stiff arm, wasn't it?
23:10Stiff arm.
23:11Here's Bebeto.
23:14Jorginho, there's the cross coming in.
23:16And it's at last there with Romario.
23:26The one way you thought they would not be able to score against Sweden was a ball lifted to the back post.
23:32You would have thought, with all the big defenders Sweden has, the number of bodies that are in there.
23:38I mean, that would have been a great ball you would have thought for Kenneth Anderson, but not for Romario.
23:43What a late goal.
23:44He was hanging there waiting for it.
23:46And his aim was absolutely pinpoint.
23:50Here's a cross.
23:52Up goes Romario.
23:54And there's the sight that all Brazil have waited to see.
23:57The number three, Patrick Anderson, will be kicking himself when he sees that.
24:01His ball watched, he's let Romario just drift off him.
24:04Too much for Roland Nielsen to get round and cover.
24:06But, I mean, your first thought is, if there's one of the leading goal scorers in the world,
24:11he may have been a bit distracted by, I think it was, the other Brazilian striker running in.
24:15But, that's a tragedy, I think, for Sweden.
24:18Particularly that way.
24:21Now they're going to have to push out.
24:23As we've said before, there's no medals for losing just 1-0.
24:31You can lose 2-0 or 3-0.
24:32But what you've got to do now is to throw everything at Brazil
24:35and hope that you can get back on level terms.
24:38So you can expect to see Brazil shoving those tired legs forward now.
24:43Or rather, Sweden shoving those tired legs forward now.
24:46Hoping to get back on level terms.
24:49Kenneth Anderson.
24:52Well, you have to say, without the firepower, it seems, to make that happen.
24:57And now you might well see Brazil explode.
25:00Because there's suddenly much more space as Sweden have pulled out.
25:05And the ball is taken off here by Xenio.
25:12Brazil know that they are maybe eight minutes away from the World Cup final.
25:16They haven't won it since 1970.
25:19A World Cup final here on Sunday against Italy.
25:21The rhythm is beating out here now in Pasadena.
25:36From Mario.
25:45Here he goes again.
25:47Here he goes again.
25:49Babetto.
25:49Oh, just over the top.
25:53A wicked curling shot there from Babetto.
25:58They're playing the Sampa again now, aren't they?
26:01Confidence is high.
26:02I mean, I mean, that's a mark of a confident striker, that.
26:07He tried one in the first half, that.
26:08It's almost a replica for that.
26:11Sweden at full stretch.
26:18Romario coming at them again.
26:21Just wide.
26:33It reads ahead as sprints onto it there, off-ride.
26:36Actually, Babetto's in a great position, but he's got one thought in his mind there.
26:40Not on his best side.
26:41Here's Romario.
26:52Is he going to finish with a flourish?
26:53Is he going to finish?
26:54No.
26:54The Swedes denied in that.
26:56Zinho playing it wide.
26:58Rai with a little foot.
27:01And Auckland for Sweden.
27:05The final whistle.
27:06Brazil go into the World Cup final to face Italy here in the Pasadena Rose.
27:11football on Sunday.
27:15Early evening your time, lunchtime here.
27:17Romario's goal puts Carlos Adelta Pereira's team into the final again.
27:26The Sambas, the drums, the celebrations, music, laughter, the smiles.
27:35Brazil are here to contribute so much again for the World Cup final here on Sunday.
27:41And as you can see, a terrific atmosphere.
27:43The two coaches, Tommy Svensson and Pereira.
27:46You saw the players embracing as well.
27:48And this is togetherness again with the Brazilians.
27:51They're joyful in their victory.
27:53And the fans, they're enjoying it too.
27:56And if you're in Pasadena tonight and you're expecting to sleep, I think you'd better forget it.
28:02Goalkeeper Taffarel, who really, I suppose in this World Cup all the way through, has not had a lot to do.
28:09Let's just wonder if the Italians can do something about that on Sunday.
28:12The prospect is a fantastic one, really.
28:17So, Romario has done it again for Brazil.
28:20It's Brazil 1, Sweden 0.
28:22As we say goodbye to you from Pasadena.
28:24Brian, thanks very much.
28:27Before it all began, Jack, you said there'd only be a goal in it.
28:30And you were right.
28:32I like to be right.
28:33I would rather have been wrong.
28:34I wish there'd been a few goals in it.
28:35I think Brazil have pushed the game and tried to score goals.
28:38That was a bit disappointing in Sweden.
28:40I thought, well, the strengths they've got up front and the height and advantage,
28:44that they would have got the ball forward a lot quicker.
28:47People would have chased into positions and got crosses in a little bit
28:50and put the Brazilians under a bit more pressure.
28:53But they didn't.
28:54They just said it's a certain weight and keep the pattern and not come forward at all.
28:59I mean, they had what?
29:01They had one shot in the second half.
29:03Well, as Big Ron said, you would have thought it's extremely unlikely that Brazil score their goal
29:07with a header against a back four like the Swedes have got.
29:11It's incredible, really.
29:12But, you know, this is the first time from good possession out wide
29:15they've delivered anything with quality.
29:17And it is a real good cross.
29:19It's got to be for a Mario to beat, what, three six-footers in there.
29:22And you can look around and question, could the goalkeeper have come, maybe?
29:26You could also question Roland Nielsen's position and the centre-arve got in between them.
29:30But it's whipped away, as you see.
29:32And the finish, edit down, it's absolute copybook stuff.
29:35Any kids watching, that's the way to head a ball.
29:36It was the old Pelé header, wasn't it?
29:38Only Banksy saved that one.
29:40I mean, it was exactly like that.
29:44That's where you head them.
29:45In the corridors around here at the International Broadcasting Centre,
29:48there are drums going off.
29:49We know where they're coming from.
29:50But will the Brazilian fans be celebrating on Sunday night?
29:54I think so.
29:55I think so as well.
29:56I think that the team, everybody really wants to win it.
29:58I think they are the most exciting side.
30:01They haven't played well today, but they've done enough to win it
30:04because Sweden didn't really come out and do enough for me
30:07to deserve to go into the final.
30:08I think a justifiable result.
30:10We'll have to leave it there, I'm afraid, Jack,
30:11because we're fast running out of time.
30:12We'll have to leave it there, I'm afraid, Jack.
30:13We'll have to leave it there, I'm afraid, Jack.
30:13We'll have to leave it there, I'm afraid, Jack.
30:14We'll have to leave it there, I'm afraid, Jack.
30:14We'll have to leave it there, I'm afraid, Jack.
30:15We'll have to leave it there, I'm afraid, Jack.
30:15We'll have to leave it there, I'm afraid, Jack.
30:16We'll have to leave it there, I'm afraid, Jack.
30:17We'll have to leave it there, I'm afraid, Jack.
30:18We'll have to leave it there, I'm afraid, Jack.
30:19We'll have to leave it there, I'm afraid, Jack.
30:20We'll have to leave it there, I'm afraid, Jack.
