00:01Tonight from San Francisco California Oracle Park the home of the San

00:06Francisco Giants it is the Cleveland Guardians and San Francisco Giants in

00:10game two of this three-game series. On the hill tonight for the Giants will be

00:15the veteran right-hander Justin Verlander. Verlander in his 20th year he's pitched

00:19very well he has not had much luck in getting his first win as a Giant perhaps

00:23tonight he will get one for the win column. Kyle Manzardo the batters. Wide

00:27drive right field. Yastrzemski on the movement. I think he got caught by the Sun

00:32and that gets by him and goes to the fence and in the second base is Kyle

00:36Manzardo with a double. Yeah that Sun complete havoc right now for the right

00:41fielders. You can see this is a hanging breaking ball. Kyle Manzardo did not miss

00:45this pitch. You can see it looks definitely like he lost that pitch.

00:48So Cleveland looking to take an early lead with Jose Ramirez stepping in.

00:53Ramirez with a base hit right center field. They're gonna wave Manzardo home.

00:57Yastrzemski up with the throw towards second base and Manzo score standing to

01:03give the Guardians a 1-0 lead. RBI number 35 for Jose Ramirez.

01:09Well you heard it earlier we talked about that breaking ball. Another breaking ball

01:13left up in the strike zone. Jose is way too good of a hitter to not execute your pitch.

01:17You cannot try to do too much. Just getting the barrel of bat to the baseball. Did a fantastic job right there.

01:23And the runner goes and Bailey's gonna get it and throw. And they got him.

01:27Welcome back. Patrick Bailey got one of the quickest pop times in all of baseball.

01:31And a strike. And William Davis putting down the tag.

01:34Well challenge. Two outs.

01:36Oh the way that I think that the Guardians the Ramirez has 20 steals.

01:40He's gonna walk back into the Guardians dugout. He's gonna say I thought I had that.

01:45Yeah. Logan Allen looked pretty good his last time out. Worked with a little extra rest.

01:49We'll see what he can do against this Giants lineup.

01:51And two down. And here comes Raphael Devers. 3-2 pitch.

01:55The 3-2 is swung on and missed. Strike three. And a quick first inning for Logan Allen. Sets him down in order.

02:02Lane Thomas leads off the second for the Guardians. Got him.

02:0694 miles an hour. He blew it right by Lane Thomas. First strikeout of the game for Justin Verlander.

02:11Now the pitch is swung on and missed. Changeup strikes him out.

02:15First base runner for the Giants as Casey Schmidt steps in.

02:19Swing and a miss. Elevated the fastball. And Schmidt could not catch up to it. Couldn't even spoil it.

02:25Second strikeout for Logan Allen. Swing and a miss. Strike three. Tied him up inside.

02:30Chased this ball that looked like it was about 6-7 inches inside off the plate.

02:34All hands are safe on an infield single by Bailey. And Elliott Ramos steps in.

02:40Swung on. Ground ball to short. Arias to the back for one. Schneeman to first. Double play.

02:46Two down. Runner at third now is Yastrzemski. But a huge double play turn by the Guardians.

02:52Now Willie Adamas. He goes to right center. And Nolan Jones runs it down to retire the side.

02:59So Logan Allen with three scoreless under his belt.

03:02Here's Carlos Santana. Line to center his first time up.

03:05And a hard hit ground ball to second. It's booted by Fitzgerald and Santana beats it out.

03:11That looked like that might have come up on Fitzgerald there just at the last second.

03:15Had to kind of play it a little bit deeper route there in the short right center field.

03:19The error means a base runner for the Guardians.

03:22And Thomas lines it into center field. A base hit.

03:25Moving up 90 feet is Santana. And the Guardians now have runners at first and second with only one away.

03:31That's his first career hit against Berlander.

03:34So Daniel Schneeman will step in. Swung on. And there's a high fly ball. Deep left center field.

03:39This has hit a ton. And that ball is gone. A home run. Daniel Schneeman to the opposite field.

03:47A three run blast. And Cleveland is now up 4-0.

03:52Another center cut fastball by Berlander.

03:56Who throwing at 94. Can't over power hitters right there like he used to. And Schneeman made him pay.

04:03Down low. Ball 4. Santana draws the walk. And the Guardians now have runners on the corners.

04:10And it looks like that's it. As Bob Melvin makes his way to the mound.

04:14The night is done for Justin Verlander at 83 pitches.

04:18So Bivens comes in. His job is to get the Giants off the field without giving up a run here.

04:23In there. Strike three caught on the outside corner. Fastball. Got him looking.

04:28Logan Allen working with that four run lead. Back to it for the Guardians.

04:32Struck him out. That changeup has been really good for Logan Allen.

04:36Bloop into shallow right center. And it falls. Base hit. On a changeup. Bailey dunks it in.

04:42And he is two for two in his first game back from the injured list. And now here comes Elliott Ramos.

04:47Elliott Ramos. There's a high drive into deep left center field. Way way back there.

04:52Adios. Palota. A laser beam into the bleachers and way up into the bleachers.

05:00For the Giants first two runs of the night. Man what a smash by Elliott Ramos.

05:06Elliott with his 12th home run of the year.

05:09Logan Allen comes back out for the sixth inning with a 4-2 lead facing Rafael Devers to lead things off.

05:16He has a 4-2 lead here in the bottom of the sixth inning. He pops Rafael Devers up.

05:21And the shortstop Gabriel Arias reels it in for out number one.

05:25A pitching change will be made. Good work again by Logan Allen.

05:29Another solid effort. He will leave with a lead.

05:32Kate Smith on in relief for his second straight night. Pitched a scoreless inning last night.

05:37And it's a one out base runner for the Giants. With the Guardians in front 4-2 here in the seventh.

05:43Their number nine hitter Patrick Bailey will come to the plate.

05:46Swing and a miss. Strike three by Bailey. Looked like the splitter that time. There's two down in the inning.

05:52Swing and a miss. Strike three. He got him with the heat.

05:56Ramos down on strike. Side retired. We're headed to the eighth.

05:59New pitcher on for the Guardians. Bottom of the eighth.

06:02It's Tim Heron, the lefty, protecting a two-run lead. 4-2 Cleveland.

06:07Adamas first into the game. And now here is Rafael Devers, the possible tying run of the game.

06:13He has struck out, walked, and popped out to shore.

06:16It's swung on and lifted high in the air to left, but not deep.

06:20Coming in is Kwon, circling. Makes the catch. Retreating to first is Adamas.

06:26Center field. And Lane Thomas calls off Kwon. He makes the catch for out number two.

06:33Don't assume your partner's got it. Absolutely. Everybody converged.

06:38And that swung on. Popped him up. Foul territory on the infield.

06:42First base side. Manzardo puts it away. And Heron does the job.

06:48We are headed to the ninth. Emmanuel Classe on to pitch the ninth with a 4-2 lead.

06:54The 2-2. Swung on. Lined on a short hop. Grabbed by Schneeman.

06:59And he'll throw on the first in time for the out. Nice play by the Guardian's second baseman.

07:05Now Dom Smith out of the dugout to pinch it for Tyler Fitzgerald.

07:09Swings at the first pitch. Left field. Kwon makes the catch. Two down.

07:16And the Giants' last hope is Mike Jastrzewski. The grandson of the great Carl Jastrzewski.

07:22Yes. And this is flipped into center field. And he does his job.

07:27What does Dusty Baker say? Die hard. Die hard. Getting the finish.

07:32Well he's been red hot. Let Classe provide the power.

07:35Called strike three. And Classe does it again. So do the Guardians.

07:41As they defeat the Giants tonight by a final score of 4-2.

07:47And go figure Tom Candiotti. Allen against Verlander. The pitching matchup.

07:52And the kid outpitched the veteran.

07:54He certainly did. He looked outstanding out there.

07:56And he got a little help from his buddies coming out of the bullpen.

08:00And did a good job. Each guy that came in.

08:03And just did just as well as the guy before him.

08:06So it was a nice pitching night for the Guardians.
