00:01Baseball greetings from PNC Park in Pittsburgh. Today it's the Pirates and

00:06the San Francisco Giants here wrapping up this three game series and the Pirates

00:11looking for their first series win against the Giants here in Pittsburgh

00:16since 2019 and they could do that with a win here today and for the Pirates it'll

00:21be left-hander Andrew Heaney who is five and nine with a 489 ERA. The Pirates

00:25could use some innings because the bullpen has been taxed a little bit

00:29lately. The Giants haven't had a winning road trip since the first week of the

00:33season. The lead-off batter is Elliott Ramos. Elliott Ramos has an on-base

00:38streak of 19 consecutive games. It goes after the first pitch of the game and

00:43lines it into right field. One pitch and a lead-off single for Elliott and that

00:48immediately extends Ramos's on-base streak 20 straight games reaching base.

00:54Here's Rafi Devers batting left-handed. Man he had nowhere to go. A curveball that totally got

01:01away from Heaney and two on nobody out for the Giants.

01:04Adamas retire. That's the first out of the game but the Giants are set up with Chapman coming up a

01:09swing and a high pop-up shallow very shallow right field. Reynolds is coming in he'll make the catch

01:16tag and a stop and the throw comes in on two or three hops in toward the base and so no advance for

01:24Ramos two outs. Here is Casey Schmidt first and third for the Giants. One two is swung on hit high

01:30in the air to deep center but playable for Canario. Just shy of the track he'll make the catch of the

01:34inning ends. Giants couple the runners left will go to the bottom of the first Robbie Ray on the

01:39mound today. Robbie Ray who the big leaguer for 11 seasons now but not a lot of experience pitching

01:47against this Pirates team. Last time he pitched here at PNC Park was 2017. In that start back in 2017

01:54as a member of the Arizona Diamondbacks Robbie Ray threw a shutout the only shutout still of his big

02:00league career. So back-to-back walks issued by Ray who is looking a little agitated out there on the

02:07mound. Ball's not going where he wants it to. So here he is Brian Reynolds these two have known each

02:12other for a very long time growing up in Brentwood Tennessee together high school teammates pitching

02:17with some stress to start the game after the back-to-back walks on the ground to short Adamas

02:22will flip with the glove cost the nice turn double play and exactly what Robbie Ray was looking for

02:28it's two outs on one pitch with big arrow over the third to the Pirates second baseman today Nick

02:33Gonzalez one for seven in this series sacrifice fly on Monday hit to left base hit and guess what he

02:41hit and a hideaway change up just off the plate and he sacks in the run Pirates lead one nothing in

02:47the first. It looked like the same thing that happened to the Giants was going to happen to us but

02:51Gonzalez put an end to that with the base hit. Pirates lead one nothing now back to the top of their

02:55lineup and Peguero walked and scored in the first. Here is strike three called a slider knee high gets

03:03Peguero. Nice work there from Robbie Ray as he pitches around the one-out double. Brian Reynolds with the

03:09the man on nobody out six base runners against Ray in two plus innings of work he has spent a lot of

03:16time pitching out of the stretch here in the early innings got it with the change-up third strikeout

03:21for Robbie Ray here this afternoon. Nick Gonzalez two out single in the first check swing did he go yes

03:35Robbie Ray two outs for McCutcheon hit a ball hard up the middle for a base hit in his first at bat he

03:41goes first pitch swinging here to Chapman throws him out inning over side retired Giants offense

03:49sleepy start to this one bottom four Pirates have a one nothing lead and they'll come up with

03:55former giant Joey Bart got him fastball 95. Some of the best velocity of the day for Robbie Ray and he

04:02strikes out Joey Bart for a second time 60 pitches through four innings for Andrew Heaney who has

04:08retired the last 12 Giants batters Encarnacion starts the fifth Encarnacion lined out to right in his first

04:16at bat all right get a good one right here and let it rip Encarnacion drives one deep left field

04:22gone game tied and on one swing the Giants tie the game one to one here in the fifth 442 111 off the bat home

04:34runs in back-to-back games for Gerrard Encarnacion and how about this with Ramos coming up the Pirates are

04:40going to their bullpen in the fifth Andrew Heaney's pitched well but he's coming out of the game opposite field

04:46single for Kiner Falefa see if Peguero isn't asked to bunt they are not expecting it there goes the runner

04:52swing and a miss throw tag safe it is a strike out but also a stolen base Kiner Falefa over to third a

05:00wild pitch Tommy Pham has walked and gotten the base hit today swinging a fly ball right to the right fielder

05:08Encarnacion he'll make the catch throw coming in and it's late hook slide by Kiner Falefa he's in there

05:15and the Pirates retake the lead two to one on the sack fly by Tommy Pham that wild pitch has cost him the lead

05:21base hit Nick Gonzalez has a pair of hits today boy he's having a nice August as it's shaping up

05:28he's hitting 440 this month Andrew McCutcheon the runner at first and nobody out McCutcheon foul tips

05:34it into the mid strike three picks up his seventh strikeout of the afternoon struck him out with the

05:41hard slider and that's the third strikeout for Joey Bart from Robbie Ray it's back-to-back strikeouts

05:47now for Ray two gone in the inning scenario swings it's a little bloop shallow right going out his

05:53cost and on the run he'll reach up with two hands to make the catch Robbie Ray gives up the lead off hit

05:59but then a couple of strikeouts followed by a pop out Ray completes six innings here this afternoon

06:06Girard Encarnacion will lead it off he had a four hundred forty two foot home run his last time

06:12a ground ball up the middle stabbed at by Gonzalez throws and got him terrific play by Nick Gonzalez of

06:20the Pirates and Encarnacion is hurt just grabbed the back of his right leg and he's coming out of the game

06:27tough year for Encarnacion the health department Jose Buteau 36 overall appearances between the

06:34Mets and two times on the mound in his new uniform Giants orange and black on the ground and a tough

06:41backhand long throw Chapman got him what a play great play all the way around Chapman just incredible arm

06:51strength and he needed every bit of it there Giants have two on with one out

06:57Billy Adamas is coming up next Adamas just a little bloop out into shallow right center and it's going to fall

07:04that hit by Adamas has filled the bases Mattson is done for the day and it's a two one game and

07:10the Pirates are going to bring in their fireman Dennis Santana is coming on to work trying to protect

07:14that one run cushion and now Matt Chapman's going to bat with the bases loaded only one out

07:19an opportunity here for the Giants at least to tie the game Chapman hits one to left

07:25Tommy Pham going back and he will catch it on the run tagging is Bailey and he'll come in to score to

07:33tie the game Santana's retired all three batters that he's faced here's Jung-Hoo Lee pulls that one

07:39into right field base hit and that one's going to go to the wall and he's got himself a stand up

07:45one out double they'll use another pinch hitter this time it's Dominic Smith who has collected a

07:5110 game hitting streak Smith pulls one down the right field line it's a fair ball Lee around third

07:57he'll score another one for Dom Smith he's into second and the Giants take a 3-2 lead now still

08:05threat lurking Patrick Bailey batting left Bailey pulls one into right that's another hit

08:11Matt Williams gives a go sign here comes Smith around third on his way home and he'll score

08:18without a throw Patrick Bailey is two for two off the bench today and an RBI single gives the Giants an

08:26add-on run it's now 4-2 well bounce back opportunity here for Randy Rodriguez who

08:32could not get the job done on Monday night and now he's in to try to finish off a Giants win here

08:38on Wednesday afternoon two down and it's all up to Isaiah Kiner-Falefa trying to get on on the ground

08:45diving stab from his knees Rodriguez got there and what a way to end it a brilliant play by Dom Smith

08:56the Giants win the game and win the series the go-ahead hit in the top half and then the play

09:02at first that ends the game as the Giants get it done in come from behind fashion here in Pittsburgh
