00:00Yeah, I'm going to call it.
00:03I'm going to retire.
00:05We've talked about it a lot.
00:06Ellen and I have talked about it a lot.
00:07Kitto's talked about it a lot.
00:09And I'm at peace with it.
00:10I think it's the right time.
00:12Yeah, I can't think of a better season to go out.
00:15And we still have a lot to accomplish, obviously,
00:17this month.
00:17And the last thing I want to do is be a distraction
00:20to anybody for accomplishing our ultimate goal,
00:24to win in the last game of the season.
00:25So we're going to get through this today.
00:28And then we're going to go win the rest of the games.
00:29And be good.
00:30We had talked about it basically all year.
00:34You know, Ellen and I just kind of going back and forth.
00:36And I think almost going into this season,
00:38we kind of knew that this was going to be it.
00:40Over the course of the season, just
00:42how grateful I am to have been healthy and be out on the mound
00:45and be able to pitch.
00:46And I think it just made it obvious
00:48that this was a good sending off point.
00:51And what's turned into a Clayton Kershaw appreciation
00:53weekend here at Dodger Stadium.
00:55You know, we don't know if he'll pitch again in a regular season
00:58game after tonight.
00:58He might.
00:59But what we do know, it is the last guaranteed regular season
01:03start that Clayton Kershaw will ever make
01:05in this hallowed ballpark.
01:06When I think of Clayton Kershaw,
01:07I think of one of the best competitors of all time.
01:10You can put him up there with Magic Johnson as far as his impact in the Los Angeles community,
01:20especially with the Dodgers.
01:21He has set the tone year after year as a captain and as a general, and he's a big game hunter.
01:26He's a big game hunter, so it's only fitting that he's going up against his arch rival who he's had a ton of success
01:30against tonight.
01:31And he's a walking statue, so I said, man, go home and take care of those kids, man.
01:36Hell of a career.
01:36In the National League West, the Dodgers are on top yet again, trying to win a division title for the 12th time in the last 13 years.
01:42They can clinch a playoff spot tonight with a victory or a Diamondbacks loss.
01:48The Giants need every win they can get between now and next Sunday.
01:52Clayton Kershaw takes the mound, and he's received by a sold-out stadium.
01:58Well, for Kershaw, the lone member of the Dodgers, his teammates said, nope, this is your night.
02:04They have yet to take the field.
02:06Now Kershaw looks over to the third-base dugout and says,
02:09come on, guys, we've got a ball game to play.
02:13Kershaw waves to the crowd.
02:15And for Clayton Kershaw, his first Major League start at Dodgers Stadium was back on Sunday, May 25, 2008.
02:24He struck out the very first batter that he faced.
02:26That was Skip Schumacher.
02:28A momentous occasion to see this man on this mound, possibly for the final time.
02:33Giants' leadoff hitter will be Elliott Ramos.
02:35Ramos cracks one out to left center field, and this one will spoil some of the party early on.
02:41A long home run from Elliott Ramos on an 0-2 pitch has given the Giants a 1-0 start in this finale for Kershaw at Dodgers Stadium.
02:51The Padres just lost to the White Sox.
02:53There's a swing and a miss.
02:55Adames is our first strikeout of the night for Kershaw.
02:59It comes on a slider.
03:00That was a good one.
03:01The home run ball was not on a good slider.
03:04Wilmer Flores.
03:07Kershaw stretching the pitch.
03:08Swing on him.
03:09Missed.
03:09Strike three.
03:10Got him with a curveball.
03:12That is the Cooperstown curveball from Kershaw.
03:15Devers at second.
03:16Chapman at first.
03:17Now face the right-handed hitting second baseman Casey Schmidt.
03:20It's a little bloop out toward right.
03:21It's Hernandez coming in.
03:23Making the catch.
03:24Two in the inning.
03:25The top of the first for Clayton Kershaw.
03:27He'll have a home run.
03:28He's settled in.
03:29And a couple of strikeouts in Kershaw's final regular season start here at Dodger Stadium.
03:35Robbie Ray's had a tough time lately.
03:36His ERA is above seven over his last five starts.
03:39He has not been going deep into games as much.
03:42Walks have been an issue for Ray.
03:44All the buzz about Kershaw.
03:45Well, Shohei's here too.
03:47Is this one in the air?
03:48And it's Gilbert, the center fielder, calling for it and grabbing it.
03:53Three and two pitch.
03:55Swing and a high pop-up.
03:57To the right of the plate coming over is Bailey.
03:59He's there and he makes a one-handed catch.
04:02Inning over.
04:03Strong first inning for Robbie Ray.
04:05The leadoff man for the Giants is aboard here in the second inning.
04:08Football's two strikes to count.
04:10Bailey touched it.
04:12Public enemy number one has been prime here tonight.
04:15Kershaw battling his command a bit.
04:17He's walked three in the first two innings.
04:19Two down.
04:20Here is Willie Adamas.
04:22He pops it up.
04:23So Kershaw gets two pop-ups to the same spot.
04:26Right when he needed him to get out of this inning.
04:28Wow, Rojas has that.
04:29And Clayton Kershaw gets through the second.
04:32Five up, five down for Robbie Ray.
04:34Trying to step up for this Giants ball club in a time of need for San Francisco.
04:38Rojas sends one out to left.
04:40It's deep.
04:41Back for Ramos and it's gone.
04:44Miguel Rojas cracks a game tying holder.
04:47We've been talking most of the season for Miguel Rojas.
04:50He has one of the lower swing and missed percentages on his Dodger ball club.
04:54It was important for you to be here for your childhood friend Clayton Kershaw who you grew up with.
04:59Why was it important for you to be here, Matthew?
05:00I got to see this guy at the beginning and being able to see him do it now for so many years here in L.A. has been incredible.
05:06I didn't want to miss this.
05:07I'm just so happy it fell on a night that I could be here.
05:09He'll be in the class of 2031.
05:12And there have really been a handful of first ballot Hall of Fame single team starting pitchers ever.
05:18The last was Jim Palmer.
05:20He was inducted in 1990.
05:22Swing and a miss.
05:22He comes back to strikeout Devers.
05:25Second strikeout on the slider is fourth punch out of the ball game.
05:30The Giants are runner in scoring position.
05:31And here is Wilmer Flores now.
05:33Flores lines one up the middle and that's a base hit.
05:36Chapman heads for the plate.
05:37He'll score the second run for the Giants.
05:39And San Francisco's back in front on a base hit by Wilmer Flores.
05:44Here is Encarnacion with runners on first and second.
05:46Here's a bouncing ball to short.
05:48Clayton Kershaw has done it all in Dr. Blue.
05:50And he's through three innings time in his Dodger Stadium regular season finale.
05:55He struck him out and he came right back to where he started.
05:59Beautiful execution from Robbie Ray.
06:01Gets the tag.
06:02Shutdown inning.
06:03A window of seeing Clayton Kershaw here at Dodger Stadium closes with each delivery that comes home.
06:0918 years wearing that uniform and having nothing but success.
06:14Here is Adamas.
06:15Teacher pitch.
06:16Swung on and missed.
06:17Strike three.
06:19Five strikeouts in the game for Clayton Kershaw as he once again leads to a standing ovation.
06:26Here's Freeman who struck out his first time.
06:28Swing and miss.
06:29Good pitch by Robbie Ray to get the strikeout.
06:31Yeah.
06:31That's what the velocity does.
06:33That's what the force he does.
06:35It makes rush as a hitter.
06:36Two to one Giants.
06:38Two down.
06:38The pitch.
06:39A fly ball to right field and waiting for it.
06:41Encarnacion.
06:43He's got it.
06:44Hardly had to move on that one.
06:46And we're heading to the fifth.
06:47Devers coming up.
06:49Riquez is up in the Dodger bullpen.
06:51Two right-handed batters next.
06:53See how Dave Roberts plays this here in the fifth inning.
06:55He'll likely be the last batter for Kershaw here at Dodger Stadium.
06:59First batter Kershaw ever faced here at Dodger Stadium was Skip Schumacher and he struck him out.
07:04He's on May 25th, 2008.
07:07Tonight, September 19th, 2025.
07:10Kershaw still a Dodger on the mound at Dodger Stadium.
07:13And he strikes out Rafael Devers.
07:16Now fitting.
07:17Then it ends with a strikeout.
07:19Just like it started back in May of 2008.
07:22Kershaw punches out Devers.
07:24And Dodger Stadium erupts one last time for a coat.
07:27Hiking the signal, hugging his fan, throwing the kiss now, doping his cap for the entire crowd.
07:34Giants leading now 2-1.
07:36The Dodgers have always passed the baton from one great player to the next.
07:40As Clayton Kershaw says goodbye, Shohei Ohtani saying hello for the last couple of years in a historic way.
07:46Ohtani with the fly ball to the left and well.
07:49Back forward, Ramos at the wall.
07:51It's gone!
07:51Oh, it is showtime in front of a sold-out house at Dodger Stadium.
07:58The Dodgers now win this ballgame 4-2.
08:02And now Mookie Betts out to left center.
08:04It's Gilbert at the wall.
08:06It's gone!
08:07The Dodgers have exploded for four runs.
08:10It's a three-run homer by Ohtani and a solo shot as a follow-up for Mookie Betts.
08:17And they chase the Giants starter, Robbie Ray, out of the game.
08:20Double for Miguel Rojas.
08:22Now here is Pajas.
08:24Line drive left center.
08:25That's going to get down to base.
08:26Hit.
08:27It bounces to the wall.
08:28It's back-to-back doubles.
08:30Rojas and Pajas.
08:32An insurance run for the Dodgers.
08:33It's 6-2.
08:34Matt Chapman, another guy who hasn't been hoping will get it going.
08:39And he hit a double hit very hard.
08:41Chapman lines one to right center field.
08:43That gets down for a hit.
08:44Adamas comes home.
08:45Chapman has driven in a run.
08:47The Giants get closer at 6-3.
08:49Chapman doing an excellent job fighting off a tough pitch to handle.
08:54Run to the scoring position, showing the ability to cash in.
08:57And this game is flopping over.
08:58Kirby Yates, veteran right-hander, with the great splitter.
09:02Bailey slaps one toward the left field line.
09:04It's a sliding catch by Andy Pajas, who's had a great night.
09:08Tanner Scott has a .472 ERA.
09:11He has nine blown saves this year.
09:13The tying run comes to the plate.
09:15Chapman can tie it up with one swing as well.
09:17Two outs.
09:18And Chapman with a pop-up.
09:21Mookie Betts waits for it.
09:23On Kershaw's night, the Dodgers win.
09:26They'll clinch a postseason berth.
09:28And they beat their rival, the Giants, 6-3.
