00:04There's so many great 90's country songs that

00:08use so many different paint brushes to paint

00:12but they wrote stuff back then that nobody's writing now. There's a great song

00:16by Mark Chestnut called Bubba Shot the Jute Box. Not only is it just

00:20hilarious and funny but it's so well written. I'd also say not only

00:24is one of the songs that makes me laugh, it's also one of the songs that makes me just super appreciate

00:28Nashville songwriting because for these guys to come in

00:32to work one day to write a song and some guy goes, I got an idea for a song

00:36it's called Bubba Shot the Jute Box last night and these guys go, yeah I love it

00:40let's write it and just to write it so well in a way that's so funny

00:44but also such a great story from beginning to end

00:48not only is it a funny song, it's a perfect example of some of the best

00:52songwriting in Nashville looks like. One song I wish I'd written

00:56whenever I hear Miranda Lambert's The House That Built Me

01:04and a song I never could write because it's just so well written

01:10it's a beautiful song, I think so many people

01:14having a dog buried under the tree and

01:16going back by that house

01:18that someone else is living in now

01:20or sadly enough my house that I grew up in

01:22and replaced with something else

01:24took my kids to go see my childhood house one time

01:26there's just a big dirt

01:28strip of brown dirt

01:30nothing left

01:32and then they built some huge house on it

01:34but yeah I just think that song is so well written

01:36and I wish I'd written The House That Built Me

01:38by Miranda Lambert. You know, growing up in Arizona

01:40my dad loved country music, we drove around the car

01:42just listening to it, just listening to radio

01:44Rainy Travis was, you know, someone who was

01:46big on the radio back then and

01:48one of his songs on the other hand

01:50just a great Rainy Travis song

01:52great country song, you know

01:54wow

01:56about, you know, on the one hand we could be hanging out

01:58but on the other hand there's a golden band

02:00you know, being married

02:02just

02:04straight up great country music by

02:06one of the greatest country singers of all time

02:08it reminds me of driving around with my dad in Arizona

02:10growing up. What song do I sing in the car when nobody's listening?

02:12you know, my car

02:14now, you know, I grew up, my dad

02:16had control of the radio

02:18now my kids have control of the radio

02:20so, it's whatever they're playing

02:22if I'm around with my daughter, I'll probably sing along

02:24top of my lungs to a Noah Kahn song

02:26it's my son Knox

02:28it's probably some rap song

02:30it might be an NF song

02:32when we're listening to the clean rap

02:34and it's my song, my daughter Jordan

02:36I have a, on my XM radio

02:38I have the Broadway station

02:40so, I might be singing along

02:42the top of my lungs to a D. Irvin Hanson song
