Man arrested after car driven through Melbourne's Northland Shopping Centre

Police say they have arrested a man and seized an electronic key reprogramming tool after a stolen car was driven through a Melbourne shopping centre yesterday.

00:00I'm at Northland Shopping Centre where this is one of the largest shopping centres here in Melbourne.

00:10Thousands of people come here to shop every single day.

00:14Now I can tell you that police have made an arrest this morning at 8.30am of a 27 year old man from East Melbourne.

00:23Now what police allege is that the man was intercepted here at the shopping centre in a white stolen Land Cruiser SUV.

00:32The driver has rammed the police car twice before making his way through the shopping centre.

00:39Now witnesses described running for their lives, there was screaming, there was banging.

00:45People were fearful for their lives taking shelter inside of shops.
