00:0025 days ago, I left my homeland, Goonijamara Country, at a place recently named Portland,
00:09with a small group of companions. I had the sea at one side and country on the other,
00:16both Aboriginal land and Aboriginal water. The first step was taken with the weight of history
00:26pressing through the soles of my shoes, and the voices of my people whispering, urging,
00:35steadying me forward. We began at the place where the first wounds were struck into the earth,
00:43where footsteps came ashore, not as visitors, but as claimants. Where the smoke of fires,
00:53long burning was ignored, and where our presence was declared absence.
