03:10It's just over three quarters of an acre on the bottom bit and then it goes right the

03:16And how long have you guys lived here?
03:18Over 40 odd years.
03:20And were you into gardening before you moved here?
03:23No.
03:25So was this always your plot from the start or did you kind of extend it?
03:28Yeah.
03:28It was always with ours, yeah.
03:30So it just kind of, I'll stick an odd plant in and you got carried away.

03:36It's beautiful though, isn't it?
03:38Yeah.
03:38So you'll be opening it to the throngs of the public.
03:40When's that happening?
03:41On Saturday, the 21st of June from 12 o'clock until four.
03:45And it's a bit of an annual tradition, isn't it?
03:47You've been doing that for a few years now.
03:48Quite a few years now we've been doing that, yeah.
03:51And it's, I mean, it's, you've got to, you know, you've got to get it tip top, haven't
03:56you, when the public are coming.
03:57So is the pressure on, is it, kind of, at the minute?
03:59Yeah, it's got to be right.

04:01And we were walking around your garden, it's looking fantastic.
04:04I mean, it's the right time of the year to have it open, isn't it?
04:08The roses look great.
04:09You were saying it seems to have been a particularly good year.
04:11I think it has been.
04:11I, I, my personal choice, I think it has been a really good year for, for roses.

04:18It's been really wet.
04:19Yeah.
04:19So it hasn't been too dry for them, so they've quite enjoyed it.
04:22So people can, as well as look, beautiful gardens and plants, there's, there's chickens.
04:28There's chickens, there's a polytunnel, there's greenhouse, there's fish pond.
04:33Some big fish in there, isn't there?
04:36What's, um, how old's that biggie that we were, we were taking a look at?
04:39Oh, gracious, he's got to be, he's got to be open.

04:42I've been a lot of years old.

04:44Well, you must be doing something right then.
04:45He's obviously fairly happy there.

04:48So how many hours a week would you say you kind of, is a typical week for you spending,
04:54you know, working in the, we're in the garden every day.
04:56Yeah.
04:56If you're not eating or sleeping, you're in the, we live outside pretty much.

05:02And, uh, does it keep you fit and healthy or is it, is it knackered you?
05:05It knackered us up now.
05:07I think we're open age now.
05:08We're thinking, oh my God, this is hard work.
05:10Yeah.
05:10Because there's only me and Kev.

05:12We don't have a garden, we don't have no help.
05:14Yeah, yeah.

05:16So, but it's nice.
05:17If the weather's nice, you can come out and enjoy it.

05:21So you do get the odd bit of time to make the most of this summer house and sit and have
05:24a brew.

05:28There's me getting you posing around the garden, just look like you're relaxing in it
05:31and you're thinking, I haven't sat and relaxed in this garden.
05:34But, um, it is, it is stunning though.
05:37It must be quite nice to be amongst the public and as they walk around, you know, even going

05:41Because a lot of people, they think, oh, it's just a terrace garden behind a Victorian cottage.
05:46Yeah, yeah.
05:46And then when they walk all the way around, they come up and they say, well, a lot of
05:50people ask, which bit is ours?
05:52Yeah.
05:53I said, all of it.
05:54Yeah, yeah.
05:55And then they'll say, is it communal garden?
05:57I said, no, it's ours.
05:58Yeah.
05:59Do you have a gardener?
06:00No, it's just us.
06:01So, you know.
06:02Well, thank you for letting the shop she's star in and be open, as the lady said, Saturday
