Marcos: No mandatory repatriation yet for Filipinos in Israel, Iran

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on June 18, 2025 says the Philippine government will 'not yet' order a mandatory repatriation of Filipinos in Israel and Iran amid the ongoing conflict between the two countries. 'We have already contacted all our nationals and asked them if they want to be evacuated,' he said Marcos said during a chance interview in Quezon City. The President also assured affected Filipinos that the government would be providing fuel subsidies to sectors directly affected by the price hikes.

00:00Well, I don't know what Tel Aviv is burning, but it's being bombed by Iran because of the Israeli movement.
00:08We, of course, are watching our nationals both in Israel and in Iran.
00:15And as a matter of fact, we have already contacted all our nationals and asked them if they want to be evacuated.
00:23Some have asked to be evacuated out of Israel. Some now, nung una, sa Iran, ayaw nila muna umalis.
But we have been able to do that.
00:51And the first patch, in fact, Secretary Dak Dak Dak is already on his way to Israel, to Jordan, actually to Jordan, para ma-coordinate niya both the evacuees from Israel and the evacuees from Iran.
01:12Do you raise the alert level 3, of course?
01:14To?
01:15Alert level 3 or 4, mandatory, repatriation?
01:17No, not yet. We generally leave it to each individual or each family to decide for themselves whether or not they feel safe or whether or not they would like to be evacuated.
01:32Sir, the expected impact is higher oil prices here. How are we bracing for that, sir?
01:37Well, again, we are starting already with the assumption that the oil prices will in fact go up. And I cannot see how it will not. Because the streets of Hormuz will then be blocked if it escalates.
01:50The oil cannot come out of its sources. So the prices will certainly be affected. So the subsidies that we have always given, fuel subsidies, that we gave to, if you remember, during the pandemic,
02:07the oil prices, and the oil prices, and the oil prices, and the oil prices, we gave to, if you remember, the oil prices, and the oil prices, and the oil prices.
02:14Now we will have to do the same for those who are severely affected stakeholders by any instability in the price of oil.
02:25We will have to do the same for those who are severely affected by any instability in the price of oil.
02:31We will have to do the same for those who are severely affected by any instability in this honest time.
02:36We will see you next time.
02:52You
