Nigel Farage has called for military action in the English Channel, arguing that the government "should declare a national security emergency" to tackle the migrant crisis. The comments come after the Prime Minister admitted at the G7 summit in Canada that the Channel situation is "deteriorating", as new figures revealed more than 40,000 migrants have crossed since Labour took office in July.A Downing Street readout from his meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron confirmed both leaders agreed the situation was deteriorating and that "migration should be a key focus".Speaking on GB News, Nigel Farage said: "He doesn't know what he's doing on this. Does he? He's completely lost on this. This has got to get a grip, and this is really going to get a grip. It's not just the situation deteriorating his performance on this is deteriorating."

00:00Maurice Glasman, you've just seen that clip for the first time.
00:02What the hell is going on?
00:04Yeah, well, maybe it's the jet lag I'm going to give away.
00:06Oh, get away. Oh, come on, for good.
00:08You're not getting away with that.
00:09He doesn't know what he's doing on this, does he?
00:11No.
00:11He is completely lost on this.
00:14This has got to get a grip, and this is really...
00:18Got to get a grip.
00:19It's not just the situation deteriorating.
00:21His performance on this is deteriorating.
00:23Yeah, and I've argued for many years
00:27that we've got to put the Royal Navy in the English Channel.
00:29We've got to really...
00:31Why is it the case that there's any legitimate claim
00:36of leaving France to come to England?
00:39This is what I don't get at any level.
00:42I mean, France is a country...
00:44France's in the ECHR.
00:46There's no threat to the migrants in France.
00:49What is the...
00:49Well, all Denmark, who, of course,
00:51have now got a very tough policy on illegal and legal...
00:54And this is a Social Democrat government.
00:56I mean, Katie, we'll come...
00:58I mean, this damaged the Conservatives massively,
01:01and you know that jolly well.
01:03But that was pretty abject, wasn't it?
01:05We have been across the British political establishment,
01:09both Labour and Conservatives, in my opinion,
01:13shockingly naive about what bringing people to this country
01:17is going to do to our culture, to our safety.
01:20I've done a lot talking about crime statistics
01:24and migrant crime statistics.
01:25Lots of people think that this is immoral even to mention it.
01:27But how are we supposed to make our rules?
01:29How are we supposed to make our policies
01:30if we don't know what the people who come here are doing
01:33when they arrive?
01:34You know, you're talking about the crime that's happening
01:36in the migrant camps across the Channel.
01:39Darren Jones says just the other day,
01:41it's majority women and children and babies.
01:44It's totally untrue.
01:45You've got Darren Jones, you've got Starmer,
01:47they don't know what they're doing.
01:48They're in big trouble on this.
01:49They're in very, very big trouble on this.
01:51Much bigger trouble, I think,
01:52than perhaps even they understand themselves.
01:54But it's incredibly dangerous for the British people
01:57to connect it to the last thing that we were talking about.
02:00Casey mentions it in the context of the grooming gangs review.
02:03Absolutely.
02:03We know that Afghans are 22 times as likely as Brits
02:06to commit sexual crime.
02:07We know that Eritreans are 20 times as likely as Brits
02:09to commit sexual crime.
02:11We've got to be honest about this.
02:12Well, I've tried, Maurice.
02:14My last two parliamentary questions,
02:17Prime Minister's questions,
02:18I've asked the same question, and I'll do it again.
02:20Is it not time to declare a national security emergency
02:23in the Channel?
02:24Because if you do that,
02:25you can exempt yourself from those treaties and difficulties.
02:28Well, this is exactly what I'm saying, Nigel.
02:29This has got to be treated as...
02:30So do you think it's an emergency?
02:32Yeah.
02:33I think it's been an emergency for quite a while.
02:36Yeah, that's true.
02:36I've been on here before with you,
02:38calling for the Royal Navy.
02:39Also, I was mentioning to you in the break,
02:42there's drones now that can intercept the boats.
02:45This can be done.
02:47It can all be done with the will.
02:48Only if it's understood
02:49as a military national security emergency.
02:52Now, this is the strange thing.
02:54The Prime Minister said
02:55this is a national security issue.
02:57He's said that several times.
02:58But where's the logic?
02:59We've got to push it.
03:00So what I say to you is this.
03:03Vilified on the grooming gangs,
03:04vindicated on the grooming gangs.
03:06Vilified on the boats,
03:08will be vindicated on the boats
03:10because it is a national security
03:12and the people of this country
03:13are not going to take it anymore.
03:15The gene is out of the bottle.
03:16They've had enough.
03:17No, I agree with you.
03:18I agree with you.
03:18So, the military, I mean,
03:19it sounds odd, but, you know,
03:21if the French can't control their border,
03:23we have to do it.
03:24I mean...
03:24How do we control France's border?
03:26Well, let's invade Calais, you know.
03:28Oh, there we go.
03:28We're going to invade Calais.
03:30God, some of these Labour politicians
03:31are so right-wing.
03:32I'm not sure we should be mixing
03:35with people like this.
03:36No, don't cancel me.
03:38Cancel me.
03:39Well, the joy of that statement, folks,
03:41is that Morris said it on live television.
03:42He can't withdraw it.
