00:15but here are a few things to help keep you and your money safe.
00:18They claim to work abroad in the military, on an oil rig, or as a doctor.
00:29They express strong feelings for you after just a few conversations.
00:44They want to move to a different messaging app before you've met.
00:54They have lots of excuses for why they can't talk on the phone.
00:58Or can't video chat.
01:02Or can't meet you in person.
01:15They ask you for money or create stories where you might offer to send them money.
01:23They say they need gift cards. Common requests include Amazon, Apple and Steam.
01:36Never send money to someone you've met online and haven't met in person.
01:44Never buy gift cards for someone you've met online and haven't met in person.
01:52Speak to your friends and family, even if your match tells you not to.
02:00Use a reverse image search tool to check the person and the profile match.
