The acclaimed narrative-driving adventure Heading Out is coming to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, with ports developed and published by Crunching Koalas. In addition, a new Steam update is live on PC. This update introduces interface improvements, increased game stability, performance boost, and numerous bugfixes ensuring a smooth and immersive experience on PC and Steam Deck.
Heading Out is a narrative-focused driving game that blends high-octane chases with introspective storytelling, inspired by classic American road movies. Set in a mythologized version of the United States, players step into the shoes of a mysterious fugitive on the run—part outlaw, part folk hero—racing against fear itself across a stylized, black-and-white landscape.
Every playthrough unfolds as a unique journey, shaped by player choices, procedurally generated encounters, and a dynamic radio system that delivers commentary, news, and music tailored to the player’s actions. With branching narratives, resource management, and high-speed pursuits, Heading Out invites players to write their own legend on the open road.
Developed by Serious Sim, the game launched on Steam in May 2024 to critical acclaim for its distinctive visual style and emotionally resonant themes.
