01:05now i think and the disappointing thing was that they qualified so easily out of their group i think
01:10they were the first team actually to qualify for the world cup but since they've qualified their form
01:15has been disappointing and i would think that's a little bit worrying for the greek manager that
01:20um in their warm-up games they really haven't impressed anybody i'm just looking at the number
01:25nine there uh maklos nikos maklos he was a player that impressed me at wembley 21 years of age and
01:31in greek football they think that he really does have an immense talent in front of him and it'd be
01:36interesting to see how he does on the world stage in these qualifying games here off we go into the
01:42start of the game and the last four games i've been at watching argentina and i mean the competitive
01:48games not the pre-world cup friendlies they played with a very rigid system they've left only batistuta
01:54up front kenigui of course was suspended for drug offenses for a year he hasn't been playing with them
02:00until recently now they're going to be playing kenigui with batistuta and as batistuta almost won
02:06the copa america single-handedly with marvelous breakaways i think they're immensely strengthened

03:59stop the ball and that is just the start that argentina wanted and uh now hopefully all fear will go from
04:06them and they'll really turn on the football but we all know that they're capable of but the greeks i just
04:12don't know how they left themselves so exposed so early in the game i just wonder if the goalkeeper
04:16thought because of the kind of pace he had driving into the penalty area he had miscued it uh and it
04:23deceived him that way and i think as rey said that will be a great stimulus for argentina
04:28as far as a footballing spectacle goes i hope the argentinians don't simply uh ration the way they're
04:41going to play going forward now and just be a little bit more cautious i think if we had seen
04:48a goal at the other end that would have pulled the argentinians out they do become over cautious when
04:53they get in the lead we know that from the past
04:59batastuda coming back and picking up balls on the right can he get was lying just behind him
05:09that's kenny gear just uh on the left of the penalty that was picked up by chamot

08:44goalkeeper or finish up in the back of the nest but the other thing that great strikers have they
08:48have a very very short back lift because defenders close them down so quickly they have to have that
08:54short back lift to get shots on target where they go again not surely or no he held back on it

09:05well it's um a typical argentinian performance they start off almost like as if they were wishing to
09:12produce a fireworks display and then they cam everything down they water everything down
09:17they go into the shell allow a team to come at them and then the explosion they light the fuse again
09:24yes it must be really demoralizing for the greeks now they lost the goal really early in the game
09:29and then just when it appears they're building their game together batistuto comes up with a goal like
09:34offside no doubt about that and there's nothing more demoralizing for a side than to lose a goal
09:42just before half time well we were speaking about um several players in this tournament
09:50before this game ray of course and i did mention to you better stutter and canigia you know likening
09:56them and their combination to uh bebeto and romario yes but i mean having said that i haven't seen
10:03a lot of canigia there this evening whereas certainly but it's due to has been impressive in
10:10everything he's done so far now they open it out again

10:49being asked about how much fitness there he is there and actually how much fitness he's actually got
10:54back and uh we'll see as this tournament goes on whether he is as fit as he actually should be
11:00well they're two nothing up but there's a little thing to ponder because if you consider both he
11:05maradona and canigia for different reasons probably not as fully prepared for the world cup
11:13as ideally they would like and yet the two nothing up they might get fitter this little

15:53couple of goals the thing that worries me a little bit now for the greek team is that if they react in
15:59the way that they did against england at wembley a game i saw a couple of months ago is that really
16:05the argentinians can probably score another three or four here because uh the greeks certainly in that
16:12game when we lost hearts all together and uh i hope they don't do that here this evening i hope they
16:18keep fighting on you hope to grab something from somewhere but there is a real chance for argentina
16:23to turn it on now and it looks as though they're trying to do that well i think it verifies what
16:27you were saying about these little touches i mean that wasn't a little touch that was a little explosion
16:32but it was in the area you were talking about now here he goes again little chip forward he's in his
16:38element he's enjoying it now unfortunately it hasn't come off but at least he has had a real go at it
16:48and for me he's been the most impressive player on the group side by maradona slipping that through
16:54again balbo right now to canigia aiming for a short at goal there's a little one two and he gets through
