00:22don't know if they should have asked Billy Donovan for an interview I think they've lowered their bar

00:27a little bit but I don't feel a sense of panic around this the Knicks next coach isn't going to

00:33be Rick Brunson and we're gonna be like wow they had no plan so they just gave it a Jalen's dad I

00:40I'll go to I'll go to you first Tom because then we'll get you know coaches a little more uh connected

00:46view on the situation but how do you feel about the the Knicks path through this coaching search

00:53so we talked about this last week uh you know right you know the news a little bit fresher but

00:58this doesn't surprise me I know the headlines of like oh they put in a request they were denied they

01:04put in a request they were denied again and again like this happens in literally every sport every

01:09NFL offseason it's like this team puts in a request for the OC it's like they were promptly denied the

01:13OC's not leaving you know where they put another request where they have the interview and then the OC

01:18just doesn't leave so this happens across sports all the time is it a little bit more

01:23eye-catching that it's the Knicks they fired a coach off an Eastern Conference Finals run

01:28and now they are promptly getting denied time and time again maybe it's just the optics of it but in

01:33reality it's actually not that bad I would say Malone and Jenkins no surprise are the favorites if we

01:41have that graphic I know uh one of them is or Mike Brown I think Mike Brown is the worst of that

01:46like that would be an objectively bad decision to get him I would much rather take a shot on

01:50Jenkins or Mike Malone and that's just me but to see them get denied from Jason Kidd, Eme, Doku, whoever

01:58might be that doesn't surprise me in any capacity I think when you look at it people forget that

02:04Tibbs was a Leon Rose guy and if I'm not mistaken the Knicks took I want to say three months to get

02:12the when they brought Tibbs in because remember they fired a coach in season and they went a while

02:16it was like three four months so the Knicks tried to swing and they swung for defenses they struck out

02:23four or five times now some of the guys they were chasing I'm like you know Eme, Doku, I absolutely

02:31get it Jason Kidd okay I kind of get it Quinn Snyder not so much but you pass you you cast a wide net

02:40to see who you can get as a coach and guys pull up that graphic for me real quick because there are

02:47some people as a Knicks fan I'm like oh god no no you can't uh James Marego Marego no absolutely not

02:56Rick Brunson I'd rather have Dice Yamamoto who you guys know is he says he was an assistant on the

03:01staff coach I'd rather have him than Rick to me what's starting to make sense a little bit

03:09is Taylor Jenkins number one he's won he had two back-to-back I do believe 50 win seasons

03:17with the Grizzlies number two he's supposed to be good at player development so when you look at the

03:22younger guys can he help a Huck Porti a Tyler Colick some of these guys ascend their game three go look

03:30at the fact that Dante DiVincenzo came out and was a big fan of Jenkins when he was an assistant

03:37to I believe Bud in Milwaukee all right and four Tom Thibodeau may have gotten run out of New York

03:44because he doesn't play his bench enough and people are arguing that Taylor Jenkins got run out of

03:50Memphis because he played his bench too much so there could be something there Mike Brown makes

03:56sense too you would think it would be Michael Malone but if if the Knicks players had anything

04:01to say about this and I don't care what anyone says they definitely did through their exit interviews

04:06right because supposedly the owner was in the exit interviews but maybe not Tibbs which is like

04:12that's kind of wild that the head coach isn't there for the end of season interview

04:15Michael Malone is Tibbs at a younger age so if Tibbs wasn't getting along with guys like

04:23Mikkel Bridges you think Michael Malone is no so to me players coach younger connects with the team

04:31that's why I think if anybody's probably gonna be a team it's the most important point on Jenkins

04:35he's not currently employed no one can deny them right right no one can buy them permission and

04:42listen and I and you know I think when Kevin I talked about like I was I don't think he should

04:48have been fired from Memphis I don't think it made sense I think that organization has a lot of issues

04:53in regards to their best player maybe couldn't get his best player in check but to me Taylor Jenkins

05:00is a pretty good coach is he a top 12 coach in the NBA yes but if you look at some of the top guys

05:09like Tom said they're employed so it's easier to go get a guy like a Taylor Jenkins than it would to be
