Walsall councillor Ram Kishan Mehmi is to receive the MBE.

00:00Okay, Councillor Memmi, you're the councillor for PLEC, aren't you?

00:04Yes, I am.

00:05And you've found out, you've discovered that you've been awarded the MBA?

00:08Yes, that is right.

00:09How does that feel?

00:11Well, I'm very much delighted and feel very humbled and proud of my Ruvudasia community

00:17and Interfaith group, which I've been working for a long, long time.

00:22And it just actually, I enjoy the job.

00:26Yes.

00:26And I feel very much happy to do the job and trying to solve the people's problem.

00:32Yes.

00:32And I've been doing that for many, many years, like social work, and maybe it'll be my destiny.

00:39So I will, I've always done that.

00:41I will be doing, I'll be doing in the future as well.

00:44Yes.

00:45You know, and I love the job, because if you can help the people, help those people who

00:51are living with poverty, vulnerable people, within the borough of Warsaw, in the UK, and

00:58I get a lot of, actually, happiness out of that, I actually, you know, say, look, I've done something to be proud of.

01:06That's right.

01:07Yeah, yeah.

01:07Yeah, wonderful.

01:08And what have your family said about it?

01:10How do they feel?

01:11Well, my wife and my daughter, they are all over the moon.

01:14Wonderful.

01:14And they are really, really happy.

01:17And my daughter, they said, dad.

01:19And rightly so.

01:20It's a fantastic achievement.

01:21They said, dad, you know, it's a legacy you're leaving behind.

01:24Yes, that's true.

01:25And so I'm very much proud of my family, and they cooperate with me all the time, especially

01:29my wife, Mrs. Sheila Ranimemi.

01:33She always cooperated with me, you know, whatever I do, normally, you know, what it's like in

01:38the house, you know.

01:39Yeah.

01:40But she never stopped me.

01:41Sometimes she did say that, you are born for the people.

01:46And I said, yes, I'm born for the people to work for them.

01:48Wonderful.

01:49Well, congratulations, anyway.

02:13Because I've been on the TV before many, many times, and I've been speaking to journalists

02:20So I just enjoy the job, you know.
