The bus driver who was involved in an accident that claimed the lives of 15 students of Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) in Gerik, last Monday (June 9), has been arrested by the police.

00:00Police have arrested the driver of the bus involved in an accident that claimed the lives
00:06of 15 university pendidikan Sultan Idris students in Garik last Monday.
00:12Perak Police Chief Datuk Noor Hisamnordin confirmed that the 39-year-old man was arrested
00:18around 5.45pm on Thursday after being discharged from the hospital.
00:24The suspect will be brought to the Garik District Police Headquarters to assist in the investigation
00:29under Section 41, Subsection 1 of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by reckless
00:37or dangerous driving. Police are awaiting further instructions from the State Prosecution Director
00:42to determine whether the driver will be charged in court on Friday.
00:47The suspect, a local man, had been receiving treatment at Taiping Hospital after injuring
00:53his hand during the incident. The fatal crash occurred on the morning of June 9th
00:59at Kilometer 53 of the Garik Jeli East-West Highway near Tasik Banding.
