00:00Come with me to hear my voice at the Sainsbury's Chills.

00:22Someone is coming to help you. Please continue.
00:24So, since the Dutch lady who does the voiceover impressions has done an impression of me doing the Sainsbury's Self Checkout Tills,
00:32I've had quite a few questions about the process of getting the job, how we recorded, things like that.
00:38So, I'm just going to go through it now with you.
00:40So, I actually got this job through a modelling agent, not a voiceover agent.
00:46She basically looks after Argos, Habitat, Sainsbury's. It all comes under the same umbrella.
00:53So, I've actually done a few voiceover jobs for Argos in the past.
00:57So, when she asked me if I wanted to be put forward for the Sainsbury's Self Checkout Tills,
01:01I thought, this might be good because I know that they like my voice. They've used it before.
01:06So, I sent my self-tape off at the beginning of January 2023.
01:10I then was told I was shortlisted in February 2023, but I didn't actually record anything until April 2023.
01:16This was because there was lots of other artists in the mix that were shortlisted
01:21and they did a lot of, kind of, trials with the voices in store itself,
01:27just to see which voices people preferred, which voices they found the least annoying,
01:33and eventually, after two months, they decided that they wanted to go forward with me.
01:38So, I was sent through the script. It was around 20 lines.
01:40Obviously, I did lots of different versions of each line, sent it across,
01:44and I actually did three extra re-record days where they weren't happy with things
01:50or they wanted to just slightly change the line or they just wanted more options,
01:53and I actually recorded it at home in my own, kind of, setup that I've got here.
01:59I've got a professional microphone. I didn't go into a proper studio.
02:01So, it was all done at my home.
02:04Eventually, everything got signed off in July and was live in July 2023.
02:08I signed a contract for five years.
02:12So, yeah, until 2028 will be my voice in the Sainsbury's Tills.
02:16I'm not sure everyone's happy about that, but there it is.
02:19And I've had lots of other questions about how the pay works,
02:24how I get other jobs, that kind of thing.
02:26So, if there's any other questions about it, then, yeah, let me know.
02:30So, one of the main questions I get asked when people find out I'm the voice of the Sainsbury's
02:34self-checkout Tills is how much I get paid.
02:37Do I get paid for every time someone uses the TILL?
02:41I wish. Absolutely not.
02:43How it works is we get paid a day rate for every day that we're filming.
02:48For that particular job, I did two days of records and then three extra days of re-records.
02:55So, five days in total.
02:57So, five days worth of work, which is a separate fee per day,
03:00and then also a buyout fee depending on how long they want to use it.
03:05In this case, Sainsbury's want to use my voice for five years.
03:08So, I recorded in July 2023 and it will be my voice until July 2028.
03:14So, let's make sure you중nerize.
03:30If you want to look at some of my work's characters,
03:32so if you want to look at some of my best friends,
03:36I'll see you next time.
