Despite their vital ecological roles, mangroves have experienced significant losses globally, with a 22% decline recorded between 1980 and 2020, primarily due to human activities. Southeast Asia holds the most essential proportion of global mangroves and the highest species richness; however, extensive deforestation poses a significant threat to these critical ecosystems.
