00:00United States President Donald Trump's new travel ban took effect on Monday, targeting

00:05citizens from dozens of countries, mainly in Africa and the Middle East.

00:10Immigrant rights advocates in San Francisco, California, protested the measure.

00:14We will resist and we will protect our communities in the face of this brutal escalation.

00:24Protesters called the travel ban illegal and discriminatory.

00:27But San Francisco officials promised to fight back and to protect demonstrators.

00:31This isn't just talk.

00:34We're taking action.

00:36Tomorrow at the Board of Supervisors, my office will introduce legislation to fully support

00:41our right to protest because no one in San Francisco should have to face fear of expressing

00:53their First Amendment rights.

00:56Later this week, I will work in close partnership with the Public Defender's Office to expand
