01:25heard your first song golden child i was thinking you had a bit of a gwen stefani thing he's like
01:29and then sure enough you played just a girl and so there's there's probably a little bit of her in
01:33there anyway just because she was such a huge influence to me from when i mean she was the
01:38first female artist i ever saw perform live and i was just in awe of her i mean i was like okay
01:45she's this amazing singer and songwriter already knew that but now seeing her live like she's an
01:49entertainer and she has reinvented herself so many times successfully i just think she's the
01:56coolest i i agree it's funny the last time uh that we were hanging out with your husband we were
02:02doing ronnie dunn from brooks and dunn impressions together nice remember that yes yes i oh he can
02:08try to forget yeah mitchell can also he does a great luke bryan impression too he spent enough time
02:13on tour with him he can nail that pretty good too hey look hey it's uh we're here in uh nashville
02:19and uh and megan megan's great you know we got we got megan hanging out here and holly how you

02:45because i remember it was a in a church i believe in nashville it was a church belmont was that

03:01so that's why you're not thinking you're like i was not thinking of it you're like was i worshiping
03:06that day yes i mean yes always always of course yeah no it was very special like it was uh it was
03:11it was special hearing those songs in that building that was that was a really cool moment you know
03:16stained glass windows all that stuff um and you know you could just tell that it was like it was
03:22just something special with this thank you these group of songs that you were playing thank you well
03:26i poured out my whole heart and soul on this record it's my favorite thing i've ever made and
03:32it's definitely the most vulnerable and honest thing i've ever made and you know i think for me
03:38as i've grown as an artist i've i've felt more and more you know god didn't just give me this these
03:44gifts to make a career out of it but i think also to help other people i've had a lot of pain a lot of
03:49trauma and um but you know i persevered through it and i've written songs about it
03:55and writing those songs is cathartic and healing for me but it if it can also be healing for other
04:01people and inspire them and make them feel less alone you know that's a hell of a legacy that's a
04:07that's to me is using my gifts for good do you feel like there's any have you had anything that
04:13really stands out as far as fans go that they tell you like hey this song got me through this yeah
04:19oh yeah a lot um well you know on on the record obviously blood from a stone um a song that i wrote
04:26about my mom or really just our relationship or lack of relationship you know it's it's something
04:31that a lot of people don't talk about there's a lot of um it's kind of taboo and there's a lot of shame
04:36there i think especially for young women and and the daughter the older daughter that's like you're
04:42you're supposed to be the the tried and true keep showing up and people who you know god bless them
04:48and they grew up with really good relationships with their parents it's hard to even conceive of
04:53a situation where you'd have to set the kind of boundaries that i did um but for people who didn't
04:58grow up with that they get it and if that makes them feel less alone and validated in the decisions
05:05that they've made and the boundaries that they've set i think that's a really great powerful use of
05:11of my platform and my voice and you know we touched on my experience with domestic violence
05:18and the boy who cried drunk i've had multiple women reach out and say you know that song inspired me to
05:24to leave my abuser i picked up my kids in the night and like left i mean that's i can't think of anything
05:31more rewarding than to know that um something i created was able to to do that for somebody and uh so
05:38yeah it's you know i want to even songs like whether you love me or not you know learning how
05:43to love yourself after somebody really breaks your heart somebody that's supposed to protect you and
05:48be there for you unconditionally you know the only thing you can do is say you know what that's your
05:52loss i'm gonna love me whether you love me or not so um you know i had i actually had a girl who
05:58i'm pretty sure i triggered a divorce i needed divorce um but i would i'm pretty sure i yes
06:06was the reason i'm the divorce well she told me that so uh with on the last ep we i had a song
06:12called red roses and red flags and um when i had been teasing it on socials uh this woman had
06:17commented on it and she said you know i relate to this like my husband you know he'll he'll always
06:23bring me flowers and i know it's because he's been with his mistress and i was like girl you
06:29deserve better yeah and you deserve so much better and i hope that you can see your see your worth and
06:37go find better one of these days you know and my amazing manager had this great idea she said let's
06:42send her flowers and so she got her information and we sent her roses and i just did a little card
06:48that said you deserve to get flowers for the right reason well then like fast forward a few weeks later
06:53she drove like four and a half hours to this show i was playing in illinois somewhere and she came
06:59and had a sign that said i left my husband because of you it said megan patrick sent me flowers and
07:06she's like yeah i realized you know what it is that easy and i do deserve better and she she left
07:13her husband so men you better act right or i'm gonna get your wife to leave your ass i did not know that
07:19story but it's so funny because i do think that you are a badass and it's interesting to have but
07:23you're like vulnerable where you show all these like soft sides or like the maybe the side i don't
07:30know i think those are badass sides as well all of it i mean it takes more courage to be vulnerable
07:35than to be tough and i can say that as someone who's spent a lot of my life being trying to be
07:40tough and this impenetrable you know acting like i was always fine and i wasn't i was going through a lot
07:45i was in a lot of pain i had a lot of people really hurt me and really betray me through my life
07:50and you know so i built up a lot of armor and thought well i just need to present myself as this
07:55like force this impenetrable force and i am i am very tough as a result for a result of it but
08:03there i'm also a deeply emotional and sensitive person and i'm happy to be at a place in my life
08:11and have people in my life who've let me realize that i can be both yeah you're just a girl i'm
08:16just a girl i'm just a girl that's why that song is so important it is so important i mean those
08:21lyrics they mean just as much to me as they did when i was like 14 but they also mean different
08:27things to me now there's there's totally new added layers to that song that i understand on a different
08:33level now is like a grown woman who's seen some life and been in this industry for a long time
08:38and that's why i did that cover on the album because i it's such a timeless song and i felt
08:43like i just wanted to put my own spin on it i hope that gwen's funny hears it one day and like we
08:48become besties because i might sing it together i might faint i feel like that but i think it's
08:53probably i don't think it's that far-fetched listen i just keep saying it in interviews and one of
08:58these days it's gonna get around to her it'll make me so happy because we'll be able to play this
09:03clip with the clip after like yeah have you had any interaction with blake i have actually um so
09:09i used to be signed at warner in canada when i was first getting started and you know blake was over
09:14at warner and i i got to meet him one time we started talking about hunting and i was telling
09:18him about this property and this this big buck i was chasing and uh he goes you know we finished we
09:24hung out for a little bit and he's like well i hope next time i see you i hope you got a buck on the
09:29wall and and i was like so that and sure enough like it was over a year later and he actually
09:33remembered and he's like hey did you get that buck and i was like hell yeah i did and i showed up a
09:38pic i showed him a picture he goes okay can i cuss yeah because i'm gonna be quoting him yeah oh yeah
09:44obviously yeah yeah and uh he i showed him the picture and it was a nice it was a nice big 10 point
09:50he goes that's your first deer and i said yeah he goes fuck you
09:55in like the sweetest most charming blake way so i love blake and hopefully if i one of these days
10:06i'll run into him with his amazing wife and he can introduce me and hopefully i don't faint i might
10:10though he's got hunting on his property like he should invite you to hunt there i mean yeah i think
10:15that would be normal and obvious that's the obvious choice here rob has a good manifestation
10:22technique that he just like throws things out this has happened tell so many things have happened
10:29that we say i so we're manifesting it right right you're you're saying it a lot so that's like one
10:35thing is saying it a lot the next thing is write it down too yeah write it down and act like it
