00:40all right two and five five nine two that's a great one you know i really i love final frantasy
00:46has that has that been uh did all the kids at school call you final frantasy no it's a little
00:54hey i love final frantasy i do too i thought it was great i played some final fantasy
00:59final fantasy 7 was massive i never played it but i know it was a thing oh man i think i was
01:07playing final fantasy 7 in like i don't know the off season 2002 or something sounds right that's
01:14like this is like football time that's hilarious uh but anyway uh that was the great game final
01:20fantasy that's right that's his nickname but i but i i think the newest ones i like i've sort of
01:26lost track the newest their newest one was recently released it's probably amazing do you know anything
01:32about the newest final frantasy fran didn't even deign to use his voice i appreciate it all right
01:42215-592-9494 coming up in a little bit i need some advice from richie and ria on a uh a kid issue
01:51coming up in a little bit plus uh your help as the audience if you could help me 215-592-9494 plus
01:58we're talking about a disastrous weekend for the phil's bryce harper the il with a wrist injury
02:02auto kemp called up exciting for the moment obviously did not have a great weekend i think i'm fair to put
02:08too much on auto going down i'm not gonna go crazy uh but it was nice to see auto kemp great name too
02:13by the way great name auto kemp a winner's name right there i agree uh but first down last yeah
02:18we know middle is his middle is probably what would that be like i i feel like it's probably i see fran
02:25typing furiously right now i'm gonna guess that he is looking it up as i bet it's like marshall or
02:31something strong severson oh that's what i'm talking about that family name that's a good name
02:37severson kemp in swedish something like that yeah yeah that name should be president just the name
02:45strong president yeah i i do think it gives him a leg up in life so auto severson kemp strong
02:52savvy kemp savvy i like savvy it's all right i don't know he's got it going on with that name not with
02:59the play just with the name 215-592-9494 your reaction to a dismal phillies weekend harper to
03:07the il and concerns long term with this team is this team good enough should they add do it at
03:12the trade deadline a lot going on let's go back to the phones and talk to jude in philadelphia what
03:16up jude how you doing fellas hi jude first off i should have said hey jude damn it damn it sorry i'm
03:24sure no one's done that i'm not a beagles guy you're not me either it's okay jude so does that
03:30mean your name is jude so it's time for yeah yeah no but i but i want to say i want to agree with fran
03:37that that uh french open was pretty insane that last match and uh yeah i mean i i see a lot of
03:45problems with the phillies right now i think the big problem is you see like they keep having babies
03:49and like that's a lot of time off and a lot of stuff that they're not focused on on baseball for
03:55the most part yeah you know what i mean oh look i i'm not going to kill them grabbing babies you know
04:00but i do want to they're not the ones having the baby i would like to point that out thank you yes
04:05and also your fourth baby for wheeler i feel like at a certain point you know the drill like
04:09shouldn't throw you off as much maybe you would hope you know yeah yeah but but for the most for
04:15for timeless i want to say uh i want to say elvis presley sure elvis presley that's a pretty
04:22good answer right there so so he's uh holding it against the guys that they're having babies
04:28yeah i think so i i had a i had a call uh i did leading off on saturday and i had a call with this
04:34and i've seen a few people be like oh how could wheeler leave for his kid's birth it's like stop
04:39shut up come on honestly like shut up i can't do that i'm not doing it zach wheeler has
04:44been there for this phillies team every single time they have asked him to be there for this team
04:50in big moments not big moments whatever like maze where people are it's crazy to me like yeah it's
04:56like i mean yeah 20 years ago we're all like well how could you know because if it was a playoff
05:01game maybe we have a discussion about about maybe you skip it because it's a playoff you know how
05:05many you know how many players wives have gotten induced oh i mean it's insane but this whole
05:11notion like i i see people go after the camera well it takes okay we all have vacation people
05:17okay there are vacation days we get to use them people have paternity they go and watch their kid
05:23being born i mean it's like really yeah we're human beings all of us now i don't want to give joe a
05:29pass i don't know but you know for every everyone else get to pass like people like complain about
05:35people you think he's never going to come back because he's had such a great time at his college
05:38union and he's just going to stay there forever for a corporation they give us a set amount of
05:42vacation days in general like yes okay yes people people work you you earn the time to take off you
05:49deserve whenever you want except during football yeah but pretend yeah it's true but particularly
05:53like look if you're having a kid i'm i you know it's i think we should allow them to have a kid
05:57and and be there for it i love that it's yeah for god bless and willer wheeler will be on the hill
06:02today he's back so wheeler abel lizardo will be the starters for this uh cub series so uh hopefully
06:08to richie's point earlier wheeler can kind of and is lizardo gonna be fascinating fascinating
06:14tipping pitches i i feel like it deal that's what they're saying it just is the only it's the most
06:20logical explanation absolutely like and and it was most recently it was four seam they were teeing
06:27off it was like toronto was coming yeah so is that easily correctable yeah if a tipping thing should
06:35be correctable you know it's it's not like uh i was worried it could be an injury uh uh underlying
06:40dead arm but he was still hitting 97 so it doesn't make a ton of sense you worry is it a mechanical
06:45thing the tipping thing makes the most sense because they because they were so all over the
06:50like toronto to your point like it didn't look like the pitches themselves were bad it just looked
06:55like toronto was all over them you know exactly where they were going i thought they looked like
06:59good you're talking about like it was moving you know that yeah right and and the zone like you
07:06know what i'm talking about like the plus zone that you imagine inside the box they were sort of
07:11outside the the the plus zone i thought it was like kind of a nice job by the hitter
07:16on so many occasions so many that it was fishy that's what that's what makes me think like again
07:22we can't see the tipping pitches thing to our eyes you know that's something that that professionals see
07:27but it just it feels like that is by far the most likely explanation 215-592-9494 let's talk to our buddy
07:35ed in phoenixville what up eddie uh so i just have a few little moments that sort of underscore like
07:43how desperate this we are as a team um first of all yesterday i was out food shopping i sold this
07:50bar i was like i'll stop and watch a couple innings so i stop in sit down and look at the tv it's kind
07:56of dimly lit and i'm like how many pitches has paul keen's thrown through two innings 15 oh great
08:02then i just kind of lost one inning he threw all of five pitches yeah yeah and i was thinking like
08:10before i even watched the pitch i was like well we have to get to this guy early so we didn't do that
08:15um and now this may seem like kind of petty but i'm just i'm not really feeling too rational today so
08:23frustrated with the team um boy would have it have been nice to get that pound of flesh from
08:28spencer strider we knew that bryce harper yeah in hindsight right yeah at least you could have
08:33gotten something out of it if it was going to cause such a big issue you know our pacifism bites us in
08:39the ass yeah look either way it wouldn't have made harper any healthier sadly no and it ria said earlier
08:47like we have only one uh competent outfielder and oddly enough he's the guy who needs the day off the
08:54murrow the most yeah take one you know cal castellanos over there he throws the wicked sweeper um
09:01and for what it's worth um before i give my answer uh lizardo's sweeper was very flat the other day i
09:09mean it was kind of on like the same plane and that's not really where you want your sweeper to be
09:14unless you want it to get hit 450 feet so yeah that's the other thing and even if it's not a
09:20diminishing velocity i know ria pointed this out last week but you know lizardo because of injuries
09:25last year has already pitched more innings this year than he did last year that's a concern it is
09:29possible there's some you know loss of life in the arm like a dead arm even if the the velocity isn't
09:34down maybe there's less life to this stuff in the pitches that's a possibility as well yeah so anyway my
09:42my timeless thing is um you know my parents packed it for me for lunch when i was a kid and i made one
09:48when i got home it's a great answer you're going pb and j dude ed buddy that's a potential winner
09:53man that's exactly the that is a perfect answer my life it's timeless i had it over the weekend
09:59it's not the same though uh it's not the same no of course it is you know what it used to be great
10:04when i was like 10 better yeah i think that's a crazy answer because mine was on uh like nice
10:11sourdough bread when i was a little kid potato bread oh yeah that's great that's true that's true
10:17you can you can go you mix it up a little bit this sourdough bread really made it sourdough bread
10:22with some raspberry preserves i'm not sourdough bread in any situation i'm in on peter pan
10:27peanut butter so i'm a skip even but peter uh peter pan is the best peter pan peanut butter it would
10:34have been nice if my kid actually ate sandwiches growing up i had a torturous life until he went to
10:41high school literally packing him a lunch yeah so i it was a nightmare i don't have to do that
10:46zoe does or emily does it because you know i'm never there in the mornings and whatnot but uh
10:50uh zoe is very difficult when it comes oh no it's like literally comes home i go what did you eat
10:55it's still in there we've got like a list of five yeah and if it's on that list she now he's in high
10:59school and he eats lunch there you go there you go yeah that's great uh twitter poll question of
11:05the day sponsored by arm and chevrolet proud to again be pa's number one chevrolet ev dealer now in
11:11stock the equinox blazer and silverado's evs together let's drive arm and chevy.com who is

12:59ken in cinnamon sum it up ken good morning friends how are you today great ken well great so so
13:06troubled yeah okay great in other ways life is good if we you know outside yeah life is great other than
13:13this baseball team yeah i agree well that so that's the way to look at it right life life is great you
13:18woke up this morning so that's the best way to start every day um on the i keep that one question
13:23really quick on the promo do we really think that joe de camera is the pride of saint joe's preps
13:29i mean like they have a bunch of guys in the nfl yeah i feel like we could do better ken i did receive
13:35text messages on that promo last week going really and i go yeah i hear you on that i will say the
13:41bloomsburg baller though for fritz is a strong nickname it's great what a good nickname you can do a lot
13:48so i i'm gonna i'm gonna leave that one alone yeah um so i i think where we are this morning
13:54is kind of at the inflection point of realization with this team um look they're not a very good
14:02they're they're really a bad team without bryce harper in the lineup that's obvious they're they're
14:07not a very good hitting team with bryce harper in the lineup and look i i i hate to be the voice of
14:14of reason but uh you know the the time it's it felt like the time to really start to make wholesale
14:20changes to the construction of this roster was after they lost to the mets last year and instead
14:26they decided to double down on it and well kind of they decided to like half double down they just made
14:31like no moves you know they kind of took the off season off really that's exactly what they did yeah
14:37and you know it's not that that the young guys that that have come through the system or or are you
14:43know kind of were expected to be cornerstones of this team it's not that they they're terrible
14:48it's just that they're not that good and they haven't gotten any better like bryce and stott's
14:53the same player he was when he came up worse same player he was when he came up and yeah bryce
14:59and stott's worse right yeah he's worse i mean right when he came up he sung but like once what he
15:03became in 2020 and like halfway through 2022 through 2023 that player it the player today is is a
15:11significantly worse hitter than that guy was i think for me the problem is that this hearty part
15:17is we've been watching this group of guys for so long that that we know what they are right so
15:23perfect example uh top of the ninth they're down by a run trey turner you know hits a one-out double
15:29they walk kyle schwarber to pitch to the four hitter okay so that tells you when they're walking
15:36somebody to pitch to the four hitter and when alec bohm came to the plate i said out loud to
15:40nobody in particular he's going to ground into i said it out loud to my wife i did the same exact
15:46thing i was like two on one out perfect spot for bohm to ground into a double play on the first pitch
15:51yeah on the first on the first pitch that's exactly what i said so it's the problem is that we know who
15:58these guys are we know what to expect and it's it's started it's just getting to the point now where
16:03we're it's disheartening because our our optimism about the season is starting to be replaced by the
16:09reality of it we we don't expect to see anything new and you know you just got to hope that that
16:16that this this notion that the stars that it's always been about that we need the high high paid
16:24stars to carry the team and almost like everybody else just needs to show up and fill out the lineup
16:29and that's not true you need everybody in the lineup to contribute and right now everybody on
16:34this roster is contributing to a team that doesn't drive the ball and uh i i think james i think you
16:40said it last week um everybody wanted small ball in the in the off season well this is what small
16:47ball looks like it looks like you know no extra base hits no ops uh no driving with the baseball and
16:53not a lot of scoring so i don't know how you fix this between now and and september i just there's
17:00just there's too many too many problems with the construction of the roster yeah i feel similarly
17:04like like look the only hope is obviously harper being healthy and coming back and mattering and
17:11them adding to the team and that's a tall order right now and then you're giving up pieces to add to
17:16a team that's a question mark to begin with ken you got an answer for us for something uh who or what's
17:20timeless uh how about blue eyes the chairman of the board itself that's a good answer there yeah
17:25blue eyes are time that's the kind of stuff pb and j blue eyes we're getting good answers that's the
17:29kind of stuff i'm looking for that is that is strong 215-592-9494 back to the phones in a sec i need
17:34richie and ria's help and the audience's help 215-592-9494 to chime in on this uh so zoe graduated
17:41kindergarten i don't know if graduates the right term but she finished kindergarten uh shout out to
17:45elizabeth rachel and katie her teachers who are amazing i love you guys you're the best but
17:50uh here's my point zoe's home for a week so nothing going on and uh after the show tomorrow
17:55uh because i probably should have done it by now but zoe is very kinetic and you know sometimes has
18:01trouble staying in the same place the same time for a long period of time you know she's me with
18:07the energy and the leg shaking and all that type of stuff but i am taking her to the movies for the
18:13first time tomorrow we're gonna go see lilo and stitch she's very excited wasn't sure she can make
18:18through a movie i'm not even sure she still can but we're gonna give it a shot and we're gonna find
18:21out what advice do you guys have for me you know like because it goes after the previews is that oh
18:26that's interesting okay good yeah that's good too so set expectations in in what way well you have to
18:31she has to understand that uh you know this is this is a big kid thing you know this is and it takes
18:40it takes some discipline on her part yes to be considerate of the other patrons in the cinema
18:48you know and and and that this is a big deal how how quiet can you be how considerate can you be
18:55even while you're eating you know it's like people might you're you're you're watching together and
19:01it's even more fun when you watch together because everyone's scared together and everyone's happy and
19:07sad at the same time and you can really bond over that communal experience sure yeah but you don't
19:13want to be rude to those in your cinematic community it's a kids movie this is great so
19:18right yes yes they're expecting it is a kids movie that is so i mean i just remember when taking clark
19:24but you know for the younger you know when he did you know how to train you they're a little bit
19:28louder because yeah yeah i'm hoping it's a little bit of it's not a romantic comedy that you're
19:34taking yes but go after the the previews okay so that's good advice yeah that is good advice
19:39okay all right because otherwise she'll be sitting there for way too long that no that that's and
19:43again i'm i'm worried she can make it the hour 48 or whatever the hell it is so you know so fingers
19:48don't get a lot of candy get popcorn that's good to know too not a lot of sugar okay popcorn okay this
19:54is good see this is the kind of stuff i need 215-592-9494 help me my daughter is intense she's the best i'm
20:00obsessed with her but she is a she likes to move around she likes action so we're getting through
20:05a movie it's happening i need some help 215-592-9494 are you going to smuggle uh lots of i'll probably end
20:13up buying some stuff at the theater but maybe you know we'll we'll see how that works out you know
20:17but but i'll do the whole experience we get the jug of popcorn and the soda and the whole thing it'll
20:21be always you just can't yeah you know how excited i am i mean if i could only have one thing that's
20:26always into in life would be movies because that's my thing so and sports obviously but
20:31so you know big deal for me so anything i love going to movies i can't wait anything anything i
20:36could do to make this better have you played up the uh the popcorn thing oh yeah just oh yeah she
20:42loves popcorn to begin with she's like a big like pop and pop like you know make it in the microwave
20:46and we've got like movie theater stuff this is the movie with the buttery popcorn work the popcorn
20:53is a big draw it's its own category yeah it's a big draw it's a big draw so anything else any other
20:58ideas to make it more fun or help me please 215-592-9494 let's go back to the phones and talk
21:06to bill hey bill hey good morning what's up bill all right so two i have a couple things right so on
21:13the eagles quinnon slightly better if you look he played against the best defenders i mean the best
21:20receivers always yep mitchell i mean cooper's great so and then on the phillies you want to
21:25make deals but you don't want to get paul coffee and dale howard chuck and adamos at the end of
21:30their careers i like doing nhl there yeah sure yeah young players and keep building you don't want to
21:36take a step back and then on the timeless as jeff lorry said we're the gold standard so gold it's
21:44forever that's an interesting answer gold is in a way timeless bill was ready he was just like boom
21:49boom boom i'll talk to you guys later yeah he had like efficient phone calls on the highway
21:54bullet point right billy bullet point i like that that's good yeah i nailed down he had it nailed down
22:01all right 215-592-9494 back to the phones in a sec but if you haven't heard this audio you need to
22:06hear it we're going to play bryce harper on saturday or i believe the audio is from uh either friday or
22:12saturday after the injury was announced harper talking to me about the injury and then the rob
22:16thompson's reaction to the injury as well richie has cited this already it's you can hear a toppers
22:21is concerned about this i think you know even with the sweep to the pirates and you know just a
22:27disastrous play the nine and ten the frustrations we see the issues we have on the field the harper
22:33injury is above it all i mean all the stuff we're talking about can they figure it out should they add
22:38all that stuff it's all moot if harper's done you know like none of it matters the whole discussion
22:43is over the harper injury the biggest news from the weekend even despite how bad they played
22:48uh here is what harper had to say asked about the injury after and like uh we're not going to
22:55sugarcoat it this is concerning it's been long enough um to where you know it got to the point
23:00where uh i can't really function on a baseball field or you know hit a baseball or anything like
23:06that so um just a good time for me to take some time and get it right how similar is this to what
23:13you experienced last year yeah same thing yeah yeah and it's gotten progressively worse you felt it
23:20earlier but just seems to be getting yeah i felt it early in season and um i tried to play through
23:25it as long as i could and um you know i think getting hit in the elbow uh has helped it you know
23:31just from the drainage of every old fluid coming down um but you know i think uh yeah just try to
23:39get through it the best i can and um it's going to take some time obviously um but hopefully get it
23:47done they don't need any type of i'll look on how long that could take or what the plan is for right
23:51now no not really um obviously just try to you know get through the treatment phase and see what i can
23:58do um but we gotta get you know just calm down and um get out there when i can man the whole thing's
24:07concerning but you just take that last like 10 to 15 seconds when he's like hopefully when he talked
24:12about we haven't even gotten to the treatment phase yet that whole thing it just he sounds john
24:19like somewhat resigned almost somewhat you know just accepting of the fact that that he doesn't know
24:27how this is going to play out like that's the way i took it it feels like there's uh you know it's
24:33discouraging when there are complications that you weren't expecting and it's your body that's sort of
24:39you just don't know you don't you haven't had this before like holy cow uh thought my elbow was
24:48finally better uh thought my wrist was manageable now hit in the elbow by a pitch by spencer strider
24:57and now that swelling is draining into wrist making previously problematic wrist even worse
25:05and previously surgered elbow still more problematic again so you know taking steps back in in two
25:14injuries that are already existing that's frustrating and you can hear that coming through
25:20in his voice i mean i'm sure i you know staring at those same fluorescent lights every day in the
25:26training room it's no fun and and when you're working 24 7 doing everything you humanly can to
25:32get back it's again exhausting and not fun you're not getting to play the game that you love you're
25:39doing the rehab to try to get back out there and then you gotta start winning to love the game even
25:45more uh to win the game in a way that you know really brings that enthusiasm back so got several steps
25:53need to take place here for this team to get back on track and bryce is a huge part what are we one
25:58and seven this year without bryce correct we need bryce healthy to be even one of our best version
26:04yeah uh but it's you know we've won one game yeah in his absence uh he does make a difference
26:10in many ways that we that are you know site that you can talk about you can't talk about he is
26:17he means a lot to this team i know kyle swarber does too kyle swarber uh can't do it all and when
26:24kyle swarber goes a little cold you know what happens well and it goes even further than that
26:30it said the short returner have been good it's that you know if harper's out it's no one else
26:36is contributing i mean cassianos has been fine but everyone else has been a zero when you go around
26:42the diamond the jt romuto alec bohm bryson stott the center field position max kepler that's five
26:48of your nine lineup spots have been bad to really bad you know kepler and and the center field spot
26:55have been absolutely abysmal offensively stott for a month has been pretty abysmal offensively
27:01so this is an uh like a lineup that didn't have much room for her to begin with you lose bryce harper
27:07i mean it really is the kind of thing that that could be a uh you know a killing blow so to speak
27:13for for this team's chances i just wonder about the disharmony that we know that alec bohm has been
27:19perturbed version of alec bohm for quite a while and this goes back to last season he got benched
27:27last year for it i mean when do you say this year hey i i don't like your attitude it needs to be
27:34different or else you can sit again i i don't know is is that pervasive is his dissatisfaction with
27:42whatever spreading i know that that has a tendency to happen in a locker room you know misery loves
27:49company especially when you're losing complain complain complain it's you know you sit there in
27:53the the cold tub nothing better to do it you you do it without thinking and then everyone's doing it
27:59and then you're talking yourself into being even worse it happens to the best of teams but you don't
28:05want to encourage it we knew it was we knew alec bohm had issues we we knew there was something awry
28:15we knew yeah they tried to trade him he was yeah yeah testy and this was hey let's let's see if it
28:22works this season i mean certainly i i guess i know i talked myself into hey i love the way this
28:29guy can put the bat on the ball and and i love the way this guy worked and made himself a better third
28:34baseman to where now i really do depend on him i i know he'll make the play i but still the attitude
28:43when he swings at the first pitch in a critical situation like we saw yesterday it's just it's off
28:51it's hard for a team that needs every little thing to kind of get you know let's straighten
28:59things out and get get back on the right track we don't need pushes in the wrong direction yeah he's
29:04not a foxhole guy i certainly don't feel like you know what i mean like he's so not and and yesterday's
29:09about a perfect example i mean this team is at that time had lost eight to nine they're on the verge of
29:13getting swept by one of the worst teams in baseball and you go up there and hack at the first pitch
29:17who knows at this point he goes to the plate like i i i don't i don't think so like i don't know but
29:24you you know you would think that the amount of times you've said yeah on the bases i they probably
29:30should i doubt they do and and somebody should let brayson stott know that the pitchers are aware
29:36he doesn't swing at the yeah it just offensively that's what i'm wondering like who's talking to
29:41these guys yeah no it hasn't gotten better yeah and the kevin long was brought up our first car
29:44saying fine kevin fire kevin long sure you know i'm i'm fine with that i don't know if it changes
29:49anything or not but uh speaking of kevin long topper did comment on the harper injury similarly
29:55to bryce's comments i don't think this is going to make you feel much better about it but here's
29:59what rob thompson had to say this is right wrist it's a little sore it's been sore for a while he's
30:03been fighting through it um we're just having trouble swinging and so if it's affecting the swing
30:09we're gonna pull him off and get it right have you noticed it affecting the swing last couple days
30:14not really but i think i mean anytime i've said it many times feet and hands it scares me i think
30:21it affects guy swings whether they believe that or admit to it or not i think it does you know when
30:27he did it uh it's been a while so i'm not sure exactly which day it was but he's been he's been
30:34grinding on it and that makes sense i mean harper hasn't looked right all year long we've talked
30:38about it both the the way he's kind of acted off the field on the bench but also just just
30:44offensively hasn't had the same power he hasn't had that same kind of how long have they let him
30:47play yeah yeah and look how much has he forced it and what does it mean long term does this is this
30:52surgery i mean it feels like it feels like we're heading towards the the you know uh the phillies
30:58announcing bryce harper need surgery or something right like it does feel like it's heading in that
31:02direction harper you know using terms like hopefully you know rest now and we'll see what
31:06the treatment is it just feels very undefined and concerning and without harper you know it's a real
31:14real problem 215-592-9494 to chime in again plus your chance you can come to a phillies game with us
31:21even if the team is not playing well we always have a blast at these games uh it is super fun hang out
31:26chat with everyone meet listeners meet the whole show the whole thing so your chance give us who or what
31:30is timeless at the end of your call let's go back to the phones and talk to our buddy chuck and
31:34cherry hill what up chuck hey good morning gang how you doing happy monday and congratulations on your
31:40daughter's uh graduation thanks thanks man yeah to do that every year we would pile the uh guys in the
31:48car and we would do a marathon we would do the uh bowling uh movies ponzios and then mini
31:55uh love that and that developed into it was as many kids as we could put i think remember the old
32:01ford excursion oh those were huge yeah obnoxiously large yeah yeah the teachers would freak out watch
32:08me put that many kids it's like a clown car they get out and just keep running yeah that's great
32:12their own seat belts were good here but uh it was a blast and we pretty we did it pretty much every
32:18year with the same guys were those excursions diesel no no no no no uh i think it was an excursion
32:26it was when ford made that real yeah no that was the excursion was that huge one yeah it was the
32:31expedition then the excursion was even my dad sold fords and i used to beg him my i i would beg him you
32:38know that he'd get a demonstrator off the lot he could choose a demonstrator to drive and you know he'd
32:44put the dealer plate on it and i would beg him dad explore explore because they were the new thing
32:51you know this is the mid 80s and of course i had a mercury mountaineer once upon a time like the same
32:55very cool and then i'm begging him excursion excursion excursion and all he would get were aero stars
33:03aero stars i was the only kid why do you need an aero star
33:09i don't know why i did that anyway priceless priceless time james go quick uh here's something
33:17that's mind-boggling to dovetail to kenny's point uh when you talk about the run production and power
33:24uh we ended last year with 12 guys that were ops over 700 up right so that's a list of 12 guys harper
33:37you know all the way down 12 this year right now you've got four wow that's unbelievable chuck
33:46that's unbelievable it can't happen it did you wow nine times that's unbelievable i showed to my
33:52wife i said i am reading this right you know just wow 12 and four that doesn't seem but neither does
33:58so it's sure it's the four we did schwerber turner harper and cassiano's have to be the four right
34:03you got it man river harper turner catch that you got it you got that right and last in defense
34:08but there's so many horrible teams when you look at the white socks and rockies and mark you can't
34:15be last in defense when you got those four teams in major league baseball you're right think about
34:20it but you're watching the games now they're still well pitched and you're watching that one
34:24key play that's not made in the outfield that turns into a loss and that's why they have drs and
34:32it's also backed up by stat cast so there's three measurements actually with d war they all say the
34:38exact same thing you know that's our bottom three in defense hard to fix very hard yeah well and it's
34:45one thing when you're bottom you know three five whatever in defense but you rake you know and i think
34:50look that 2022 phillies team had reese hoskins at first base and kyle schwerber in left field
34:55and they made it the further of any of these teams because they they hit they would hit home
35:00runs they raked in the playoffs like so you can't you can't have you can't be a bad lineup and this
35:07bad a defense that's a real problem would you have a guy like marsh right now who's i'll go slower he's
35:12a minus 0.5 so you just take that one third of the season extrapolate it out if he ends up a minus
35:201.5 he is he's taking runs from the game i mean he's back he's a triple a player right now yeah i
35:29know he is you're right that's what he is i mean their center field position is triple a the left
35:34fielder has been a triple a production i mean offensively the catcher is triple a production
35:39it's been it's been really really bad offensively chuck chuck you got an answer for her what's timeless
35:45for us yeah i've used this quite a bit i'll go again with uh i watch it every sunday night at
35:5012 o'clock the honeymooners i love it all the way out sure there you go you probably have a better
35:55chance of joe are here to vote for the honeymooners i think even on principle i don't think i would vote
36:00for a show like that i've never seen i've seen like episodes in the past when i was a kid here and
36:06there never really grabbed me scenes scenes yeah they go to the moon alice exactly you know but
36:13i don't know if that's aged great the to the moon alice part 215-592 yeah you've seen that but
36:18that's pretty much you know yeah i've seen a grainy like split second in commercials or something yeah
36:25that's about it it's definitely one that is even before the time where we start to you know
36:30actually remember these shows it's really old but i guess you know people still talk about it so in a
36:35way it's timeless and the reason people are giving us who or what is timeless you can come to a
36:39philly's game with us wednesday against the cubs massive series against the cubs you can come to
36:45the game with us on wednesday hang out with the entire show it's always a blast we have the best
36:48time at these games getting to know everyone listeners get to meet each other uh you know
36:53everyone will be down there the whole show uh in addition you know i'm sure uh assuming he's not
36:58at his son's game ben davis will swing by ruby morrow whoever is down at the game uh it's always an
37:04awesome awesome time so really a great prize to win uh and you can win it by giving us who or what is
37:09timeless in addition to your phillies point as again a a absolute disaster of a weekend john as
37:16the phills get swept by a pirates team that you know even after the weekend is i think 26 and 40
37:21after sweeping the phillies i mean so they came into a 23 and 40 to start the series i doesn't feel
37:26like every time we play the marlins it's like alcantara's on the mound every but they handle him
37:32pretty well they do against him yeah schemes it feels like the same it's only this year just the two
37:37times they face him they had never faced him prior to the season but yes it does feel like
37:41a lot of schemes in a short period of time and we're good we're good on the schemes yeah he is a
37:47monster and that is that's disheartening that guy just intimidating from the mount top he really
37:54he looks yeah he looks yeah he does what was their excuse on saturday yeah exactly and then on friday
38:01get schemes i could live with yeah being held to a run by and look on friday the the we go in with
38:07the bullpen game after that lizardo two inning performance you go in with a beat up bullpen
38:13and they still only give up five runs like it's not like you know unbelievable but it's a game you
38:18should have had it and they were in it they had a chance to win it and those at bats that at the end
38:22of the game on friday and saturday like some of those at bats and and look we saw with boom yesterday
38:27the first pitch double play like they are not going up but we had this whole thing with the
38:32offseason now they changed their approach and it looked like oh you know they're they're kind of
38:36doing that a bit they're walking more they're spraying the ball around a bit and it feels like
38:40they've reverted back to the the team they were you know it's it's going up and just hacking and
38:46no approach no thought to the moment in the game and what's going on and just kind of going up and
38:50swinging and quick outs and the moment in that game didn't appear to be too big for the manager
38:56who's been there all of what about five minutes i was shocked when he took skeins out yeah and then
39:01the fans worked out yeah they're booing and it's like you know worked out perfectly yeah it worked
39:06out so you know 215-592-9494 where you at with the phil's i mean if you call me we've had people
39:13calling in pretty panicked this morning and i can't talk them off the ledge like i think it is fair to be
39:19very concerned about the phil's 215-592-9494 you're listening to 94 wip hd1 philadelphia
39:26broadcasting from the tasty cake studios let's go back to the phones and talk to bishop and
39:31lansdale what up bishop hey how you guys doing how's your weekends great bishop good minus the
39:36philies well i want to come from the opposite side here i'm not worried oh explain buddy why
39:42this is why the baseball is a season of peaks and valleys is it not it is it absolutely is and right
39:51now the philies are in the valleys now i get it you know harper being out and now with that we are
39:57now coming back the starting pitching has been great and that is what gives me optimism that this
40:02team is going to bounce back you have good starting pitching you can beat almost anybody yeah but you
40:07need to score runs and you need to hold leads i generally agree with you but when you're bad
40:12offensively defensively and your bullpen isn't good it's hard for it no matter who you're starting
40:18pitching is it's hard for you to win games consistently well i'm glad you brought that up
40:23the weather's year has not been great and when this weather gets warm i believe the team's going
40:30to start hitting oh i can't do that in season thing come on but bishop that means other teams will
40:37start hitting better teams it hasn't been in the 40s and 50s yeah i i don't think this is just uh it'll
40:43get warm and they'll hit i mean what you think it's going to get warm and all of a sudden jt
40:47romido is going to get five years younger like no i'm not i'm not talking about you know guys like
40:52jt if i'm about like i don't know like schwerber can't hit much better turner can't hit much better
40:58i mean those guys have been awesome like the point is is is max kepler good no i don't think so we know
41:04that marsh and roas aren't good we know what alec bohm is sadly it's starting to look like we might
41:10know what bryson stott is and it's not what we want him to be like i bishop i like just saying it's
41:15going to get warm out and all of a sudden these guys are going to do something they haven't done
41:18i'm not saying all of them like cassianos with it with more power when it gets a little warmer
41:23his numbers have always been that way and i believe they're going to add at the deadline i was
41:29not saying they're going to add all stars or and they don't have to they don't need to upgrade what
41:34they have i man i bishop i think they might need to do a lot like i think they need a bullpen piece i
41:39think they need a bat minimum like that's minimum of of right-handed bats out there yeah they
41:46desperately need a right i mean it's ridiculous very left-handed heavy but again i i don't know
41:52what's going to be available what what it's going to cost i mean just to get a bullpen arm last year
41:56it costs a lot so i i don't share your it'll be fine optimism bishop i know not many people do but i've
42:04seen a lot of baseball teams over the years go through the same look i was just talking to john
42:09earlier i mean that's the texas rangers in 2023 won the world series they lost 10 games in a row
42:15in august it can happen that it can happen but it does feel like when we watch this team and and
42:21you know day in day out we've seen oh yeah it feels it feels it feels more flawed than weekend was
42:28not but not great it was not great at all it has not been great for this team but i just i've seen
42:34baseball a lot of times a lot of a lot of teams have gone through stuff like this maybe not quite as
42:39bad but this team is filled with veterans who have been there and done that i think they're gonna
42:44bounce back i hope you're right bishop i do i hope so bishop you got an answer for us
42:50for uh time no i don't no no all right all right bishop just coming in to talk phil is bringing
42:55positivity i can't get there i can't get there and look to his point uh you know it is it was
43:03an interesting weekend for this bob nightingale article to come out and this is reading directly
43:08from the article here's what bob nightingale said i believe this came on saturday was that right ria
43:12uh either late saturday or early sunday so it was definitely they had already you know
43:16been in the midst of struggles so so it is you know notable uh this is directly from bob
43:22nightingale's column over the weekend uh usa today nightingale said the philadelphia phillies
43:28seattle mariners chicago cubs and san diego padres are expected to be the most aggressive teams at
43:33the deadline he said the phillies will be looking for a center fielder and bullpen help i mean great
43:39they need that but as that article comes out and they're in the midst of losing the first two and
43:44then we go on to lose the last one i mean my first thought when i saw that article john
43:48because you know you would think all right great exciting whatever my first thought was was
43:53but should they be aggressive like is this is like do i want to give up any of my prospects who i'm
44:00excited about for this group right now do i think they're just a trade or two away like i don't know
44:06i am i i i get it and i understand this group is where they are from a window perspective and a
44:12you know organizationally talking about i get it but at the same time is it smart is it
44:17smart to add to this team or do they have to step back and say you know what to sunk cost they're
44:21not good enough this team is built to win now over the next two three years so yeah it's time to go
44:30for it it's time to buy it's time to what my question when when uh the bullpen comes up we need
44:38to add a center fielder and bullpen help how much help is bullpen help how many arms i mean i don't
44:43trust anyone like we have three guys that we kind of trust right strom kirkring and romano we could
44:49say like to varying degrees of trust i i wouldn't trust any of them to get a big out with with the
44:55season on the line like none of them zero much less the guys below them who i don't trust at all
45:00like squat ta it's a it's a really bad bullpen right now and this is coming off a year john let's
45:06not forget where we had a bullpen that we thought was one of the best we had seen we had two middle
45:11relievers make the all-star game and deserve it in strom and hoffman and then we get to the
45:15playoffs and they fall apart so it's you know and that and we're talking about guys who had had great
45:20years like think about going in the place with this bullpen we have right now think about playoff
45:24innings where it's like oh i wonder topper's gonna go to oh joe ross is coming in in a huge spot cool
45:29that that should go well it's just they are a flawed team right now john so how many how many
45:37bullpen arms how many bullpen arms can we use right realistically i mean i mean two three whatever
45:42i mean you know i realistically no i know i think the most they would trade for is two okay and
45:48realistically if i had to bet i bet they only trade for one but two is is you know they need to add a
45:53couple arms they need to add one guy who you like they need a real dude we can count on they go say
45:58alvarado is the only guy this season who i've felt any confidence in when they come into a game
46:02thanks jose yeah yeah tell me about it so yeah it's a it's a real problem 215-592-9494 let's go back
46:10to the phones and talk to jim in collingdale hey jim yeah good morning everyone uh thank you for taking
46:16my call you bet yeah uh with this team uh i think they've been even though they have a winning right
46:22they uh have been so predictable all season there's no emotion and there's no accountability
46:30they seem to you know they're in the close games and then they lose it and it's almost like oh well
46:35like nobody steps up i wish one player would step up and just say hey listen right now we stink but
46:42we're going to try to correct this and you know moving forward but i think the other problem is too
46:47if i was the owner i would um really push the panic button like i would get even though they can't
46:55right now but i would get rid of uh gm the the uh the moves or lack of moves he's made in the last
47:02couple years haven't really helped the team at all and uh i think the peak with this team believe it
47:08or not was the 2022 you know might be it might end up being you know right right and then since that
47:16if you look at it each year yeah it's gotten worse yeah they have a great you know record during
47:21the regular season no no we get it they've finished they've finished in a worse round each of the
47:25years i felt like exactly i felt like we made it a priority to get more athletic and more uh capable
47:31defensively each year and it uh backfired in the offense department you know like once upon a time
47:40uh reese hoskins was out there uh playing well left field first base uh and we were
47:50good shwerber out there in left field reese at first base was the offense when we were most potent
47:58and man we were so frustrated every every series you know you could count on some flubs here and
48:06there from both guys defensively but we were good and we could hit when and we could hit when it
48:13mattered we we got hot when it mattered then correct and i guess and they were and and unfortunately
48:20i think especially 2022 and it may be even 2023 they were living off the long ball yeah yeah which
48:26is usually how teams win these days you know uh jim you got an answer for us for who or what's timeless
48:31i would say blue jeans yeah no you're not wrong honestly it's a pretty good answer you said it like
48:39jokingly but actually it's pretty great answer yeah they are and have been for a long time all right
48:44215-592-9494 your last chance to win phillies tickets with us to come to a phillies game on
48:52wednesday against the cubs
48:54you
