Aaron Rodgers is officially in Pittsburgh and could make up to 19.5M. #NFL
Scheim: "I cannot wait for the Steelers to just not be good."
Good move for Steelers?
Transcript
00:00Aaron Rodgers officially inked his deal that he gets a guaranteed 10 M's from, but it could be worth up to $19.5 million with the Pittsburgh Steelers, and I cannot wait for the Steelers to just not be good.
00:13This is going to be fun.
00:15I watched Rodgers last year.
00:17All of the numbers he accrued, which was decent in the back half of last year, were all just garbage numbers.
00:23He was just throwing to Devontae Adams every single time, and they were in games that didn't matter.
00:28And I just don't think he can move quite the same way he used to.
00:32He can still make some throws that are going to wow people because that's just the arm talent he is, but he doesn't move well anymore.
00:38He's not the same guy.
00:39I don't know if there's a full-on commitment there to football, and the Steelers continue to just kind of wade their way through this murky water of quarterback now
00:50between Russell Wilson and Justin Fields and Mason Rudolph and Duck Hodges and all these guys who have come post-Ben Roethlisberger.
00:59It's been kind of a mess, and it's going to continue that way, it looks like.
01:02Well, you were not here on Friday, but we were talking about how the relationship progresses between he and Mike Tomlin
01:09and how long that lasts in a positive way.
01:14What do you think about that?
01:15Yeah, I think if there's anybody equipped to handle it, it's Mike Tomlin.
01:18He's done it with crazier people like Antonio Brown and George Pickens and you name them.
01:24I think this is good for one person and one person only, and it's DK Metcalf.
01:29Because if Aaron Rodgers funnels the ball to DK Metcalf like he did with Devontae Adams last year,
01:33DK is going to have a ridiculously good season.
01:36Outside of that, that's about it.
01:37Pittsburgh's a better team than the Jets.
01:39I think it's going to work out pretty solid for the Steelers because they're a better team.
01:45Mike Tomlin, I don't think I know, gets a lot more respect from Aaron Rodgers than Robert Solid did.
01:52So I think that you'll see Rodgers obviously buying in.
01:55The team will be better.
01:57And if the team's better, maybe Rodgers is a little bit more like, hey, knowing this is probably his last go at it
02:02and kind of has a better attitude.
02:04I think you just got sighed.
02:06I mean, I just look at the team.
02:09The teams are better, and I know.
02:12He sucks.
02:12He sucks.
02:13And I'm not saying he's going to be great, but I know how we're talking about the New England Patriots this year
02:19with the addition of Mike Vrabel versus last year with Mayo.
02:24I look at how Aaron Rodgers is going into an environment that is much better,
02:29that's going to be much more stable, that the coach has a better understanding
02:34than what Rodgers was dealing with when he was with the Jets.
02:37I worry, though, that Robert Salo is probably a lot more scared of Aaron Rodgers than Mike Tomlin will ever be.
02:42Like, Mike Tomlin, if he's not liking how things are going, he's not going to mince words.
02:45He's a guy who will tell reporters.
02:47He's very outspoken with how things are going always,
02:50and that does garner a lot of respect from his players.
02:53But at the same time, Aaron Rodgers is just not respectful to anybody he works with.
