00:00Enrique Tarrio, the former leader of the Proud Boys, is back in Washington.

00:05Convicted for his role in the 2021 attack on Capitol Hill,

00:10pardoned by President Donald Trump,

00:12he's now suing the U.S. government with four other militants.

00:17For four years, we fought to defend our innocence

00:20against a relentless assault on our constitutional rights.

00:24Today, we defend no more.

00:26Today, we go on the offense.

00:28The man convicted to 22 years in prison for orchestrating a violent plot

00:33to keep Donald Trump in office after his loss to Joe Biden in the 2020 election

00:39says that their rights were violated,

00:42that they were arrested with insufficient probable cause,

00:46and that government agents found fake incriminating evidence against them.

00:51They're asking for compensatory and punitive damages of more than $100 million.

00:56What I saw happen to the J6 people, and in particular to my clients,

01:02indicates to me that there's a lot of muck that needs to be raked

01:06out of the stables of the Department of Justice,

01:08and I hope that this lawsuit is the first step

01:12to bringing back an equal application of the law to all American citizens.

01:16Among those bringing the charges,

01:20there's the first man to have breached the Capitol on January 6th.

01:25Donald Trump pardoned them or commuted their sentence,

01:29along with roughly 1,500 other people who had stormed the Capitol.

01:34So this is January 6th.

01:36These are the hostages.

01:38A move that quickly led to their release.

01:41We hope they come out tonight, Frank.
