00:00Today I'm going to show you how to create charts in Excel.
00:02I'm going to show you the most common way, so to speak,
00:05but I'll also show you how to create charts when you don't want to create a chart of all the data you have in the table,
00:11but only some parts.
00:12The first thing you need is to have your data in Excel.
00:16It doesn't really matter if you have it arranged like this or if you have the months up here and the products down here.
00:21You'll see why later.
00:24The fastest way is to select all your data, the ones you want to show in the chart,
00:28and in the Insert tab, click on the type of chart you want to insert.
00:34Just by placing your mouse over it, you'll see a preview of how the data looks in that type of chart.
00:40Let's see if it changes to another chart.
00:44You can even try a line chart, one of this type, or a pie chart.
00:50If you want to practice with this template, I'll send it to my mailing list on Sunday, March 23rd.
00:55If you're not on it, I'll leave the link to sign up in the video description.
00:59Don't ask me for it later because I won't send it.
01:00Depending on the data you want to display in the graph, you probably already have an idea of which graph might work best for you.
01:07I'm going to show the units sold per month for two devices and I want to see which device sold the most in each month.
01:12So, I can use a bar graph of this type, but for this case, a line graph with markers would be best.
01:22Now we just have to keep editing the options so that it looks the way we want.
01:26With the graph selected, the graph design and format options are enabled.
01:31These two tabs are where you can edit everything.
01:34One option you should know about is the one to change rows to columns.
01:37This changes the axes.
01:39In this case, it doesn't make much sense because the data is displayed correctly.
01:43You can quickly change it with this option to change rows to columns.
01:46In this case, it doesn't make sense.
01:48As you can see, it doesn't look right, but you should know about this option.
01:52We can also change the design styles.
01:54Expand it and choose the one that suits you best.
01:56As you can see, you can see how the graph is displayed by hovering over it.
02:01If one of these chart styles works exactly for what you want, just select it.
02:05You can change the colors by scrolling down from here.
02:10We'll see it in different shades, just choose the one that works best for you.
02:15And these quick design options can also help you display data in other ways.
02:21Both the design styles and the quick design options allow you to change the chart elements in general.
02:27But if you want to change one, you have to do it from here, from chart elements.
02:31And as you can see, here you can set whether you want to show the horizontal axis or not the vertical axis.
02:39Here are the options.
02:41If you want to show the axis titles or not, once they appear, just double-click to edit them.
02:47You can show the chart title or not.
02:50If you want to show it, here you have the display options or more options.
02:54And to edit it, just delete what already exists and replace it.
02:59You have the option to show data labels.
03:02By hovering the mouse, you can preview how they would look.
03:04This can then be edited.
03:06If you want to include a data table or not.
03:09We also had this option with the quick design, but you can customize it further from here.
03:14Error Bars
03:15If you want to see a legend, by clicking on the little arrow,
03:18you can preview it in each of the positions.
03:22Trend lines and ascending and descending bars.
03:27And if you want to customize the color of a line or a bar.
03:30For example, I want this green one to be orange.
03:33Right click in here and fill.
03:35Choose the color orange.
03:37You see that these markers have been changed to orange and then you also change the outline to orange
03:42and in this way you have customized the color of a single series.
03:45And what happens if you don't want to show all the data in a table?
03:47Imagine that we have the data like this.
03:49Well, we can also do it the following way.
03:51Without selecting any data, we are going to insert it.
03:55We select the type of graph.
03:57I am going to select the same one as before so that it remains the same.
04:02And once I have it here, we are going to select the data.
04:05We are going to add a series.
04:08The name of the series would be the iPhone.
04:11We accept.
04:13The data range would be this.
04:15And here I have the first series.
04:20So that the names of the months are not shown here, I edit it and select it from here.
04:26I accept and I would have the first series.
04:28If I want to add another one, well, again, select data.
04:33Let's add another series, the Samsung one.
04:36This is the name.
04:38We have the values here.
04:39I accept and it is not necessary to change the labels of the horizontal axis because it already
04:45takes those of the previous series.
04:47We accept.
04:48And here we have the graph.
04:49As you can see, it shows us the same colors as the last graph we created on the other sheet and
04:54the customization would be exactly the same.
04:56If you found it useful, give it a like and if you want to be up to date with everything,
04:59subscribe to my mailing list.
05:01I'll leave you the link here.
05:03See you in the next video.
