00:00Right, if you'd like to introduce yourself and tell us where we are today.
00:03My name is Fiona Gray, I'm the Director of Place at Wellborn and today we're at the Wellborn Welcome Centre.
00:09So tell us about Wellborn, what is going to be here?
00:12So Wellborn is going to be an entirely new place made up of homes, green space, employment, cafes, pubs,
00:24all the social infrastructure as well that a community really needs to thrive.
00:28And we've spent a lot of time and thought in the design of the place as well so that it looks beautiful
00:34and it sits really well in the Hampshire countryside.
00:38So how many homes are going to be built here?
00:40There will be up to 6,000 homes supported by three primary schools, one secondary school,
00:4750% of the entire area is green space so we've got some beautiful woodlands, formal parks, playgrounds, sports facilities.
00:55It's going to be a really important part of this integration of sort of built environment with that green space.
01:02It's going to be really important to the community.
01:04And what about health care facilities?
01:07Yes, yeah, the first phase we've got our village centre coming forward and part of that will include GP surgery and also pharmacy.
01:16And in time, as Wellborn grows and the community gets bigger, then there'll be a more significant health facility in the district centre in later phases.
01:26And how long will it take to be completed?
01:29Around about 20, 25 years.
01:32You have to remember we are building an entire new community and new place and that does take time.
01:40There's a lot of moving parts and a lot of thought that's gone through to develop what we think will be a very special place.
01:48Anne, can you just tell me a little bit about what is happening at Junction 10 to facilitate all of this?
01:52Junction 10 is well underway and a lot of people will be able to see that from their journey as they go up and down the M27.
01:59That's well on track.
02:00Hampshire County Council are delivering that element of the works with their contractor, Volker Fitzpatrick.
02:05The works are well underway and is expected to be finished in 2026.
02:12And how's that going to look different to how Junction 10 currently looks?
02:16The key thing there is at the moment you can only exit in one direction.
02:21So the design of the junction is intended to enable people to enter and exit the motorway both east and west.
02:28And it will link into Wellborn and it will carry traffic intended for Wellborn through our street design and into all the facilities of Wellborn.
