Today we're going for a walk up Butser Hill. So Butser Hill is one of the highest points in
00:06
Hampshire and can be found just off the A3. If you park at the top of the hill like I did rather
00:11
than walk up from the bottom then you walk along this little path and you pass a cafe on your way
00:16
which is a great place to grab coffee ready for your walk. The area is very popular with dog walkers
00:23
but be aware there are some paths where you need to keep them on the lead because there are cattle
00:26
and horses which are grazing but there are plenty of open spaces where your dogs can be off the lead
00:31
as well. And right on cue here they are I love seeing these they really do make me smile.
00:39
There is an official path that you can follow which are marked by these red signs but be aware
00:44
that these take you into an area where dogs need to be kept on a lead and the terrain is just a little
00:49
less flat but if you don't want to follow that then you can stay across the top where the walk
00:53
rejoins that path anyway.
01:08
So on the northern side of Butser Hill there's a lovely little viewpoint which overlooks the South Downs
01:13
and things that you can see include to Petersfield, Ashford hangars as well as Harting Down.
01:29
To the east of Butser Hill is Queen Elizabeth Country Park which you can get to on foot thanks to a pathway
01:43
which goes underneath the A3 which connects the two things. Then on the southern side of Butser Hill
01:49
is another viewpoint and from here you can see across to Goodwood, Portsmouth and of course the Eyed of White.
01:53
As I've mentioned before there are lots of paths around Butser including this one which takes you
02:00
down the hill towards Queen Elizabeth Country Park though it is steep and it's not for the faint-hearted.
02:06
So we're just finishing our loop here and it takes you back to where we started. I hope you've enjoyed the walk.
