Amazon has created a new team within its consumer product division to focus on agentic artificial intelligence, the company announced Wednesday. According to CNBC, the team will operate out of Lab126, Amazon's Silicon Valley R&D unit known for developing devices like the Kindle and Echo. Companies are increasingly developing AI agents to perform complex, multistep tasks, advancing beyond traditional chatbots and content generators. The new team will develop an agentic AI framework for Amazon’s robotics operations, a field known as physical AI. Amazon has launched multiple agentic AI initiatives, including a browser-based agent, a cloud-based AI group, and Alexa+, which is expected to feature agentic capabilities.
