In a tragic turn, RCB’s victory celebration in Bengaluru descended into chaos as a stampede broke out outside Chinnaswamy Stadium on June 3. More than 11 people, including women, lost their lives in the stampede, which sent shockwaves across the nation. The program was shortened and ended within 10 minutes due to the overwhelming crowd and the out-of-control situation. PM Modi expressed condolences over the stampede tragedy and prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured. In a post on ‘X’, PMO India wrote, “In this tragic hour, my thoughts are with all those who have lost their loved ones,” calling the mishap heartrending. The tragic event has cast a shadow over RCB’s celebrated IPL win against Punjab Kings (PBKS). RCB clinched their maiden IPL title with a six-run victory at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on June 2.
