00:00Cementing their bromance. The Prime Minister, no stranger to WA, this trip is...
00:0935th. Who's counting? Roger is.
00:14The PM, back a week after Federal Environment Minister Murray Watt chose to approve an extension of Woodside's Northwest Shelf Gas Project on the Burrup Peninsula until 2070 under strict conditions.
00:27Despite repeatedly calling for the extension to be approved, the Premier didn't see it that way.
00:32Well, I didn't get my way. What we did was advocated for an important project, a project which will ultimately see global emissions be reduced.
00:41So I understand that this great state isn't just about Perth. It's about the jobs and economic activity.
00:48And one of the things that I want to talk with these two fine people behind me, the Premier and Deputy Premier, about regional growth as well.
00:58With one hurdle cleared, the Premier is now putting pressure on Federal Cabinet to prioritise the rewrite of its environmental conservation reforms.
01:06That's something we all want to see, whether you're in business or you're in the conservation movement.
01:11And what I asked Minister Watt to do as part of his early days in that portfolio is to consult.
01:19Our message is that we need to get on with these projects, not only for the benefit of reliable, affordable energy,
01:27but also for the benefits that they bring in supporting our state and our nation.
01:33As the Prime Minister flies out, rallies will be held around the country tomorrow
01:38in what's being called a snap National Day of Action to condemn the Federal Government's decision
01:44to extend the life of the North West Shelf Project.
