00:00Equities trading in Canada's largest centre continued their upward momentum on Tuesday,
00:09driven by gains in the energy and utility sectors.
00:12The Bank of Canada will provide its interest rate update on Wednesday.
00:16Meanwhile, U.S. markets rallied following reports that President Donald Trump
00:21and Chinese President Xi Jinping are expected to hold talks this week to address trade tensions.
00:27Shortly after, Trump accused China of breaching a deal to ease tariffs and trade barriers.
00:33The TSX was up 37 points, while the venture rose almost 10.
00:38On Wall Street, the Dow added 215 points and the Nasdaq gained 156.
00:48The highest-gaining TSX stocks of the day were Northcliffe Resources up 50%,
00:53Algoma Steel rose 28% and Avalon Advanced Materials was up 33%.
01:04As for the stock seeing the biggest drop, it was a tie for first.
01:07Extra Technologies and Appley Therapeutics both down 25%,
01:11followed by RTG Mining which gave up 12.5%.
